Omg I wish I would have seen these reviews prior to moving into my recent home. I feel like I am experiencing everything that has been mentioned to lack of communication, lack of getting things done on time, feeling retaliation, I feel home was not properly cleaned prior to moving in, floating turds in the toilet on day one. I would have never subjected my kids to what I feel is a chaotic unsafe environment had I seen these reviews. I have multiple special needs children who I feel can't adjust to what I feel is an unsafe environment. Wow, truly disappointed. Only gave one star because I couldn't give any less on here. We had previously been with a different realty company in the Elk Grove area and had been happy with them until our landlord decided that they wanted to change companies. WORST. IDEA. EVER. When we called to set up our online payment portal to pay our rent, they were less than helpful. We were forced to come into the office to be able to give them rent payment (mid-lease) because we HAD to come into the office to set up our online portal when it's something that should of been transferred over from the previous realty company. So, I called to see when a good time would be to come in and I was given a time and when we showed up within that time, the person I spoke to was NOWHERE to be found. We called him and he said "Oh, I did say I would be there at that time, huh? Could you maybe wait 20 minutes and I will be there?" We would submit MULTIPLE maintenance requests and they would never respond. Rod Luman, (the owner, I assume) is the most condescending person that I have ever spoken to in my entire life. He's short on the telephone and is unable to give straight forward answers to simple questions that he is asked. I HIGHLY recommend that you take business elsewhere. I wouldn't be renting from them if it were my choice to begin with. I've spoken to him on multiple occasions and I have NEVER had a positive experience. Steer very clear, if you can. STAY AWAY! Rod makes a living of scamming people. Everything was fine until the end of my lease. Upon move out, I left the house in better condition then before I moved in. They tried to charge me over 2k for cleaning fees plus my deposit, another $1,600. Not to mention me and my 6 year old son had a vegetable garden in the backyard and they assumed I was growing pot. Then they tried to use pictures of trash in a yard from an entirely different property to frame me and justify the $3,600 charge. Fought it and beat the charge. Rod is an unhappy man that spend his time glorifying Trump on his social accounts. Don't be his next victim. read more

We applied for one of their properties, left several messages by phone and email, paid $90 for the application fee and never even received a phone call. My card was charged twice and when I called on a Saturday and spoke with Rod he said, "we aren't open you'll have to call on Monday." What real estate office is closed on Saturday, that's usually the best day for realtors. They should have at least had the courtesy to pick up the phone and let us know we weren't getting the property. When I called about the double charge, Rod acted as if I was bothering him on a Saturday. Needing a new place to live is hard enough, getting treated like crap by the realtor makes a difficult situation worse. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. It's a 2-3 person center so my opinion they are bias with no support. If RON the realtor isn't a perfect mach he will pass you up, take your money and run. I am a very well qualified tenant with a 813 credit rating. They said my application was approved and I was first in line for a house. But when I asked if the owner could move some things out of the garage he said he was moving onto the next app. He never responded and Just dropped me off their ability to rent. The absolute WORST property management! Rod and his new little accomplice will FIND ANYTHING TO CHARGE YOU WITH. BE CAREFUL. First, to anyone reading this who is looking to rent, be sure to list EVERYthing that you find wrong during your inspection.. everything big and small. Prior to us moving in, we had the carpets cleaned (money out of our own pockets) as it did not look like they were cleaned after the last tenants moved out. I can confidently say that my husband and are I extremely clean people & we know how to take care of our home. I know we took care of this house better than any tenant before us & I know this because of the condition the house was in when they gave us the keys. We replaced almost every set of blinds in the house because they were either broken or uncleanable (money out of our own pockets). We scrubbed the mold out of both bathrooms and around every window, scrubbed the toilets to remove the stains, cleaned the fish smell out of the refrigerator, pulled weeds and added grass to the backyard.. the list is endless. While living there, we complained about the missing screens on ALL of the windows in which were never replaced in the 3 (long) years we lived there. It took nearly 2 years to finally get a recycle bin, it took months to fix the floors that started bubbling/ lifting, the garage openers only worked half of the time, there was a smell in the bathroom cabinets I could never get rid of, no matter how hard I tried, eventually took it as a loss and just never put anything in them. The storms took out the fences on every side of the backyard and were NEVER fixed despite several attempts to have them repaired. Our neighbors hate them just as much as we do. The dishwasher hose is being held together by tape, the cabinets and drawers are literally stapled on the inside to keep the bottom together. I can go on forever.. Now, when we moved out we didn't have a lot to clean as we are already really clean people. We cleaned up after ourselves and called it a day, leaving it in even better condition than before. A month later we get the invoice. (Insert all caps) $240! For a sink stopper. A sink stopper that costs $11 on Amazon. A stink stopper that wasn't even there to begin with! I've never had my blood boil like that after seeing that email. I know for a fact that they looked and looked for something to charge us with.. probably to use the money to fix the 3 fences in the back. What they did to us is not right. It is the principle of the matter & I honestly hope they eventually get sued from either the mold exposure or the cabinets falling on someone. I hope this helps you all out there! Rodney and his staff, Dina, has been managing our rental property for over two years now and they're definitely people we can trust to manage our property. We came to Key Realty because our prior management company decided to drop us due to communication issues with our existing tenants. We also had issues with our tenants not paying rent and utilities on time, which had cost us fees and a trip to the County's Office to get our lien released. Long story short, Rod was confident that he could help us manage our property when we first presented our issues with him two years ago. Our tenants are now paying rent and utilities more on time and we haven't received any notices from the utilities anymore about delinquent payments. Having said all that, since no one is perfect, we did come across issues with Key Realty in the past. AVOID THIS BUSINESS!!!! I applied for one of their available properties via their online website and they required a credit check with a $35 payment. Of course, I applied and made a payment. I did not hear from Key Realty for several days and of course they took the payment, but have yet to receive notice of a appointment or even when I can look at this available property. My expectation is that if a property is listed as available you would schedule and contact all interested parties as you receive applications, not when you feel that you have collected enough applicants to line your checkbook knowing only one family will get the home. Considering that I have not heard from them I began searching for other places since my family and I are currently homeless after relocating from San Diego and have found a place. I contacted Key spoke to Rod and ask to cancel my application and was told that the $35 is non-refundable and that I am basically out of luck even though they have not contacted me, schedule any appointments, and cannot tell me the status of my application. I am not in home rental industry and am just a regular everyday person, but I know when you are hustling people out of money running a "credit check" for $35 and not providing them a service in return. In my opinion this is a horrible business practice and is scamming people out of their money. I will not be doing business with this company in the future. My advice, avoid Key Realty and my boy Rod's shady company. They are taking your money and leave you in a bind. Enjoy my $35 and hope your company fails. read more

Saw rental and nowhere on description it showed criteria for renting. Paid $80 for my husband and I amd got declined cause they said I had a BK within 3 years and low score. Texted Rod and I said if I had known I wouldn't have wasted $80 and applied. I felt misled and they rip people off. He doesn't even care, like they collect fees just to make money.They should put that in the ad if they have those criterias. Absolutely the worst. I enquired about a property to Ron that was listed on Saturday. I contacted him on Sunday at 1 pm regarding my application for the property. I desperately need to move to another property as ive sold my house. He would not pick up his phone. I called about 5 times and he finally picked up and yelled at me for calling him and I should call him during normal business hours that are on Monday! There's no business hours listed on their website! I called on Monday at 9 am and he's now blocked my phone! This guy Rod and his little sidekick Dina. Played dirty towards the end of us living in a property he was in charge of. Our property was ran by another realty company at the beginning. Then Key Realty took over. It was ok for the first few years. We lived their almost 8 years. First off real quick, after taking over he raised our rent. No one elses. We let it go it was not much. Then towards the end it was letters after letters of warnings do this, remove this, you can not park here... Then it came the beginning of this year he raises our rent again this time by $200 extra a month. Again just us at the time. We have lived there for almost 8 years we were close and friendly with enough of our neighbors. To find out we were the only ones for the 2nd time. After that we were like this is crazy. So we finally put in work requests of things that should have been fixed before we moved in. Then we looked into paying our water company directly. We paid on time and everytime. 3 months right before the rent hike. Dina so sweet not. Calls to tell us we are 3 months behind we ended up double paying water because they say that is not their deal. We are supposed to pay them and they pay water. Each month the water amount was different and when we started paying the water company. We realized he was over charging us. I could go on and on. I will just say do not trust these people or this company. I will never recommend KEY REALTY or use them again. read more

After the upgrades, we listed on the high side of available comps. The second family to look at the house gave us a very good offer, but with a few contingencies we weren't comfortable with. Negative experience having Rod Luman, the owner, as a property manager. Lack of oversight, over promising, little attention to detail. Some items agreed upon have been ignored altogether or didn't get done without any reminders. Selectively charged 10% fees on contractor invoices. Arranged their preferred cleaning contractor ;-) ;-) to clean the carpet in the same home twice within a week: First recommending People's Home Services in Sacramento to the tenant, who hired them to clean the entire carpet, then hiring People's Home Services again a few days later. The tenant, of course, didn't agree to being charged twice. Frustrating to sort it out. read more
