I went through 2 court cases this summer and I hunted around for process servers that were reasonable, but more importantly, creative. In both situations, I was dealing with individuals who had weird schedules and I wasn't sure what location was the best to reach either of them at. In addition, one of them was a pretty shady character, so I was also worried he might dodge the process server. If you've used process servers before, then you know they generally charge by the location and person, not by the papers. They also factor in distance, number of attempts, and the length of time it takes. So, if I wanted them to try different addresses, they were going to charge me for each location or end up charging another fee if they couldn't deliver them at the single address within their time frame. I turned to Yelp, which I am coming to rely on, and found Gabriel. Not only was he extremely professional and courteous on the phone, he was also very personable and listened to my concerns. He took down the extra details about how to reach the individuals in different places and then turned around and succeeded in serving both parties on that very day without extra charges!! He filed all the papers for me, made sure to provide confirmation to me, and was knowledgeable about some of the extra steps I might have to go through. I also found it convenient he takes Paypal. I think Gabriel did an awesome job and I would hire him again (only I hope I don't have to go through any more court dates)! Today is 30 days before my court date, and half way across the state I am now stressing that my case will be pushed back. I am having a friend stop by the neighborhood again in hopes that SHE will be able to serve who I am looking for! Not too happy, give him a shot and JUST MAYBE he'll follow through for you. They just did a terrific job for me on a rush assignment dealing with a particularly difficult Sheriff's Office. They moved heaven and earth to get something done in one day. This is the second time they basically dropped everything and got something done for me that was pretty difficult. They have also finessed a few things in the San Mateo Sheriff's Office. (Frank knows the local Sheriffs and is careful to follow the procedures in each office -- this one needs a declaration re electronic writ even after the change in the SER forms etc...) If you have work in Nor Cal, I can't recommend them highly enough. (I should also mention that they just opened an office right across from CT Corporation in Glendale)
