What a big mistake!The old man assisting us seemed ok at first, he was even cracking jokes, but then I noticed he was getting annoyed when I asked him for different colors and styles. And when I asked him for a shirt his answer was "a shirt is a shirt " as he rolled his eyes. Then he told my son he was going to have to imagine the vest on. I thought he was joking and laughed but then I realized he wasn't , and said no, he would like to try it on please. He yelled at me from across the room " Come on, come on !". I kept my cool ( thinking wow! what a grumpy, rude old man). However, I told my son to just change because we were going somewhere else. Then the old man came back with a vest and with an attitude he said "here!" and handed my son the vest. While we were there, there was only one other person in the store who walked in to pick up his prom tuxedo. So I guess he was overwhelmed with "two" customers. Just because he was old an we all know how old people sometimes become grumpy, I didn't want to be disrespectful so I told him my son will come back with his girlfriend to make sure the tuxedo and accessories match her dresses, since they have 2 proms. The man's answer was to make sure he knows what he wants because he can't try everything on because everything he tried on had to be dry cleaned according to covid regulations.... O.....k. That is not my problem, tuxedo rentals are expensive. So I finally told him not to worry about him because my son was not going back. I told him, calmly, that he needed to have patience with his customers, we can't just go and get an outfit for a very special day without trying it on and making sure that it's what we want and that it fits nicely. He said he's been in the business for over 50 years, he got in my face trying to intimidate me and said I was rude. To be honest, I really felt like pushing him but Instead I took a step back and told him he was the rude one, and maybe that was the problem, he's been doing it for too long and it was time for him to retire. I walked out as he was yelling I don't know what. By then my blood pressure was trough the roof. Wow! what a bad experience. The good news is that right after I left that shit hole, I went to a store in Rutherford and got everything my son needs for his 2 proms. What a difference! Thank goodness for that. So, since I can't give 0 stars I'm giving it 1. I just read other reviews, I wish I would've done it before walking into that nightmare.

Christina accommodated many appointments and stayed late when the appointment ran late. I'm giving three stars SOLELY because of my experience with alternations. I was told before I bought my dress that altering the sleeves would be no problem. So I said yes to the dress because I was told the sleeves could be changed and was super excited. During my first fitting I was told by the seamstress that the sleeves couldn't be altered the way I was told they could. And if I wanted them like that I wouldn't be able to move my arms. If this was explained to be before buying the dress, I probably would've thought twice about that particular dress. (I would've undoubtedly bought my dress from Sister's Bridal because the service and selection was great). The alterations were very stressful and took 4, maybe 5, fittings to get the sleeves to look semi like what I was originally told (I live an hour+ away, and had to leave work early for many of these appointments). And the seamstress seemed VERY bothered by my alteration request. One my wedding day it was a disappointment with the way the custom alterations looked. The sleeves were uneven. One side held higher on my shoulder and the other wouldn't hold on my shoulder, it was lower on my arm. I can see this in every single forward facing picture from my wedding day. I can't even explain how disappointing that is. It wasn't how I was wearing it either. One side was altered differently and when I tried to move the other side down, material folded awkwardly. When I tried to move the lower side up, it pulled too much and wouldn't stay. Trust me, I tried! So, my advice is buy a dress you love 100% as is and IF you want custom alternations, have the actual seamstress there to say it can be done before buying the dress.

I even got my bridesmaid dresses from her and every bridesmaid has raved about their service at the boutique. When the time came for my fittings, the seamstress worked hard to make sure that the dress fit just the way that I wanted it to. Everyone was so patient and extremely helpful. We drop off at the front desk, they pick up on specific days and bring it back on specific days. Pricing-wise, they are much more affordable than most. I wish there was an app where one could easily let them know what needs to be done, or tell them if you need something hemmed or fixed, but that is wishful thinking I guess. Their cleaning is pretty good, not the best I have seen, but certainly the best for their price point. I will be using them moving forward.

They legitimately turned a Medium size, corset gown into a small. Altered a simple blue dress last minute( I mean, hours before my flight) and accommodated my mothers needs for her gown. I was shocked. I had a blazer that needed dry cleaning, I use the jacket daily and there was beginning to have an body odor on the jacket. I dropped it off with no problem. I picked up and went home. I was running late and just pulled the plastic off and went to work. Once at the subway, I looked down at the cuff and there was a stain on the cuff and the body odor scent was still apparent. I got to work and removed the jacket for the rest of the day. I returned the next day and told the woman about the stain and the smell. She rolled her eyes and says why don't you have it on the hanger and plastic? I explained the situation and said, I'd like you to clean it again, free of charge, as the smell and stain was never cleaned. I get a " tisk tisk and a few words in Korean to the husband. I said what difference does it make if it was still on the hanger and plastic, the jacket wasn't cleaned? She reluctantly grabs the jacket and hands me the ticket. No apology. I walked out and then back in and told her, how I have been coming her for years with no issue and always paid their prices ( which once the value of the homes went up, so did the prices) Carroll Gardens was not always a rich enclave. I said the least you could have done, was say , Oh, I'm sorry, we will take care of it. I could see if I came back a week later and said, oh, this is not clean. But it was less than 24 hours. She and the husband just ignored me, no words. just walked away, Wow. Really. 20 years of going to your shop and this is the way you treat someone. I have been coming here for less than a year. I kept on getting broken buttons on my shirts, so I…read moreasked the lady to check them every time for broken buttons before returning them. She probably did it couple of times. My shirts are not cheap, and I got tired of wearing them with buttons that don't exactly match. Also tired of planning an attire, and at 6 in the morning finding out buttons were missing. I collected 6-7 shirts over 4 weeks with broken buttons and brought them in. The lady first said it's a problem with Hugo Boss shirts. I found that hard to believe. Then she called up the guy from the back, who I think is the owner along with the lady. He straight out said the buttons didn't break there. All I do is put on the shirt. I don't wash them, I don't iron them. I got accused of doing my laundry somewhere else. They looked at my record and said you were here last in April 6. So, what does that mean? I have enough shirts to take me through 4 weeks, so I collected the ones I found with broken buttons and brought them in. In the end, I left dissatisfied because I didn't want to argue with them. They offered to fix one. I don't know what else to say. I liked this lady and she was always nice. But, now I have to find someone else to fix the shirts that they have made useless. Even after all of this, I would say if you come here maybe you will have a different experience. I'm for sure am not coming back.

My girlfriend bought me a pair of dress shoes for Christmas and I haven't really worn them because not only were the soles extremely slippery but they seemed to scuff easily. I spoke to a coworker that said that this shop was able to add a thin layer of traction material to the bottom of shoes - think 1/6th of an inch. These additions have a pattern that creates grip and also protects the soles so that they don't get scuffed up. I brought my pair of shoes in and he was able to have them back to me in 2 days. I was even able to wear them out after our recent storm - with the black ice all over the city and it was still okay. I told my gf to take her Christian Louboutins there to see what he can do about adding the addition sole to her shoes too. She just dropped them off today but she said he was able to match the exact red of the soles."

Advice to this shoe repair shop: Be nice to customers and you'll build loyalty, which means repeat business. People remember how you make them feel.
