Contracted Keystone for repairs to a structure in an estate. Looked at multiple vendors and suppliers and educated myself both on line and through questioning the suppliers. This project was a bit unusual for carbon fiber, but Keystone worked through my concerns and supplied a letter from the P.E. at the manufacturer specific to my questions. What was supposed to be an interior French Drain installation resulted in my entire basement being gutted and Keystone leaving a huge mess for me to clean up! Their "crew" which was a subcontractor, arrived at the established time scheduled by the company the day before. I remember feeling optimistic that morning that I had made the right choice. My confidence quickly deteriorated as the day progressed. My walls were ripped open and the studs behind the drywall cut. One of my outlet wires were cut but the reciprocating saw that was used which caused a huge arc and my breaker tripping. After the worker repaired his damage with a piece of electrical tape they began destroying the grid for my drop ceiling. Instead of removing the sections, they were bent and ripped out! When I asked why they were damaging the ceiling, the reply was they don't take the time to disassemble and if that's what I wanted I would have to pay an addition 10 labor hours at $150.00 per hour! They said that they just gut the area in question. Apparently, the almost $10,000 I SPENT WAS NOT ENOUGH. When they opened up my ceramic tile floor in the bathroom, the trench that was dug did not turn the corner. This was explained was necessary because corners typically leak first. The net result of this blunder was my bathroom floor covered in water after the next storm. Almost a month later their "service" crew came out and repaired the poor job done by the first crew. At lunchtime, I purchased a few pizzas for the guys because I hoped that my gesture would somehow persuade the guys to show more care in my home. That gesture was met with cement mixing done in my lawn (as well as the cleaning of their mixing troughs) which turned my lawn cement gray in sections! The icing on the cake for me was the dumpster bag this company offers as a service. They charge $350.00 for something that Home Depot charges $30.00 for! Waste Management charges an additional $150.00 to retrieve. So they basically double the cost to make the phone call on your behalf. BEWARE! Pictures don't lie. In conclusion, I have subsequently found a myriad of other companies out there at half the cost. Keystone preaches quality but it was not my experience. The project coordinator Josh was an arrogant and ignorant individual, quick to argue and make excuses for why I was wrong. He obviously does not understand that the customer is always right. At one point I simply just came to the realization that I was dealing with a petulant child and reasoning with him was not going to work. My final criticism of this companies "crew" would be the scattered Marlboro cigarette butts scattered all over my driveway. The crew leader was a benighted chain-smoking and energy guzzling individual. In conclusion, the methodology and ethics of this company are CONGRUENT with that of a far less sophisticated operation. It amazes me that their inspector was so knowledgeable and sincere and the net result was smoke and mirrors. read more

We thought had water coming in by the back wall in the basement. Brian came out to meet with my husband the day after we requested a consult. He was so honest and showed him that it was just a problem around the door rather than a problem with the foundation. He also showed my husband an easy fix he could do himself. The initial install, using a sub-contractor had issues but was ultimately completed OK. The system recently seems to have quit working although the pumps are fine. When I called to get someone to come out and check the system I got the run around for weeks and finally gave up. A simple request for service for which i was totally willing to pay. There have to be better options out there. I'm off to find one. read more

I actually had two jobs done -- waterproofing and finishing. Though expensive, the waterproofing was done quickly, efficiently and well. The problem is they cover the walls with a sheet of heavy plastic that only goes part way up, hangs loosely and is ugly. So, I decided I needed to cover it with drywall. Thinking I would get the same efficiency and quality as I did with the waterproofing, I accepted the extra cost and contracted with Keystone to do the finishing. I as wrong. It was a disaster. They didn't even get started on the project until four months after I signed the contract, and then they only assigned one person to the job and he was apparently working on a couple of other jobs at the same time, so that his hours actually working on my basement were unpredictable at best. As a result, the project drug out for three weeks (instead of the one that they told me) and the costs (it was a time and material contract - watch out for that!) kept adding on. When the job was still not done after three weeks and a few thousand extra dollars, I terminated the contract. So even after all that, it's still not done, and I have to figure out how to finish it myself. This is absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. The project took way too long, cost way too much and is still not done, solely due to the inefficiency of the company. What's worse, they don't seem to care. read more

you say we hired YOUR guy on the side...NO, we used YOUR guy to install an elbow on the plumbing for the stack pipe (AKA-plumbing work). I was told they had to stop there if I was to get my own plumber, or he could do it. When you are put between a rock and hard spot, you have to make a decision. The customer is the one screwed. If I got a different plumber, then what? My entire floor was dug up. How the hell can you expect me to make any other decision other than to use your guy. Had I known then that you were going to be like this, of course, I would use a company that has it's OWN workers and not subcontractors. It's funny how you pick and choose when he is YOUR guy or a subcontractor. Regardless, your customer service is horrible! Your company should have came out to look at the problem we were having. Their was raw sewage in our basement HOURS after YOUR workers completed the job. Regardless if you think it's someone else's fault or not, YOUR company's customer service is poor at best. I will say that the guys (NOT YOUR EMPLOYEES) did a good job. When your salesman came to my house and called you...I Should have known right then and there to stop the entire meeting. You were rude then. I am in sales. If I treated customer the way you did, I would be out of a job. YOUR company was supposed to come back and install the sink that THEY moved. I had to pay another person to do that. Whatever the reason my drains were clogged, and it happened hours after your workers finished. The plumber said your drains were clean. I find it VERY hard to believe that one has nothing to do with the other. I also find it even harder to believe that anyone looking at this situation would find you NOT at some fault. The same person that installed the drain line installed the elbow, but it's not your problem. It's funny how you pick and choose what issues falls on your company. I learned a very valuable lesson in this whole thing. When you have little integrity, and immediately place blame on your workers/ subcontractors (NOT YOUR WORKER) instead of trying to help the customer resolve the issue is EXACLTY the type of company I don't want to do business with. I take fault in this as well. I apologize to your receptionist for being irate, but again, there was raw sewage (actual SHIT floating in my basement). Hanging up on me didn't help, but hey, not everyone can handle a call like that, and you should train your people how to do so. Hanging up on a customer that just spent 6500.00 isn't the smartest thing to do. Also, as the owner, YOU, should have called us immediately. Again, having an issue is somewhat understandable when you are getting a job done. How it's handled is what matters. Unfortunately, we, as customers, weren't important enough to send someone from your team out to access the situation on Saturday, Sunday or Monday! You just told us it was our problem, and left us high and dry. I have 2 kids and animals that were breathing in those toxic vapors while we were trying to figure out what the hell was wrong- with 0 help from your company. We, as customers, weren't important enough for YOU to contact us. We, as customers, didn't even get a courtesy call to say no one would be showing up today to install the sink that the workers moved. I took off work to be there today. But that doesn't matter to you...because none of this is your fault...right? The end result of this...we will go our separate ways... but know this...I will NEVER refer your company to anyone. As I told you in the beginning., I deal with customers EVERYDAY. I treat them with respect. If they have a problem... my fault or not, I still show compassion and try to help. We are human and make mistakes everyday, but it's how you handle it that matters. I wish your company could have cared enough to help us figure out what the issue was instead of immediately being on the defense. You threw your own worker under the bus. You should have protected him. He should NOT lose his job over this. He is the only one that did contact my husband and say that he was sorry for all of this, and if the plumber finds he did something wrong, he would own it. I appreciated that. All we wanted was help. We aren't plumbers and we didn't know what to do! Having a back up issue days after a French drain install, and a sewer pipe repair....what would you do?? Call the company that did it? Yes, anyone In our situation would have done the exact same thing. I can't believe you think that your work had no barring on this "coincidental" back up issue. read more

We've been in our home in Mt. Lebanon for about a year and have a two-car detached garage. Our hillside slopes down into one of the walls of the garage, which, long story short, was slowly but surely pushing the wall of the garage inward, causing the cinder blocks to sheer. We weren't in the position to replace the entire garage, so Keystone came up with an IBeam solution. They came out to our house (and were early :)) to access the situation before starting work. They were interested in helping us out and also worked with us on pricing so that we would be comfortable with the amount. They felt our project was semi-urgent, so they started work about six days after we agreed on the work to be done. When they arrived to do start the job, all three guys were friendly and seemed ready to work. They started around 9 a.m. and were here until the job was done around 4:00 p.m. Our garage looks great (for getting four Ibeams!) and we're happy with the work done. One big thing about Keystone is that they offer a lifetime warranty (which is also transferrable to another owner if you decide to sell your home) and also sign a contract that promises that they will come back every five years to check things out and make sure everything is still to satisfaction and functioning properly. Overall we had a good experience and felt everyone was experienced and knowledgeable in the job they were performing! read more

Overpriced and Dishonest. Before you believe other reviews know that they offered us a discount if we gave a good review. I assume that they did this for others. We got a quote to fix a bowed and leaky cellar wall. The original quote was for $35,000 and included a complete set of drains that they later admitted weren't necessary. We finally got them to agree to put a 3 foot deep trench on the outside to relieve pressure and drain off water, install I-beams and patch the inside of the walls for $22,000, which I think is pretty steep. But they guarantee their work, so we went with it. We signed the contract without exact details but they promised that they would send these. They never did, even after repeated requests. In fact, all requests to meet or followup on problems or questions were very late or ignored. When the crew arrived we were told that the city inspector wouldn't allow the trench. We got 3 or 4 different excuses but it looked to me like they simply didn't want to break up a slab that was in the way and manually dig a 3 foot trench. They deducted only $1,000 for that but without a detailed contract we didn't have much basis to argue. The work on the wall was done as explained and the crew very professional. I have no complaints about them. But the next day we got a lot more leakage that we had to begin with. The existing leaks were almost all fixed but the repaired wall now has leaks that weren't there before. We got a bunch of different excuses, even a comment that "basements are supposed to leak" and "our concrete isn't waterproof, you have to expect this". They won't fix the problem and when we suggested that they do the trench as originally agreed upon, they say that they never said they were going to install a drain and it wouldn't work anyway. When we asked for a 6 foot deep trench and drain they quoted us an additional $30,000 to $40,000 bill! They haven't offered any help or even contacted us again as requested. STAY AWAY! THERE ARE HONEST PEOPLE WHO WILL DO THE JOB FOR CHEAPER AND STAND BY THEIR WORK! read more

Do NOT use this company if you want to fix a water or mold problem in your basement. We researched a number of solutions for the water issues in our basement. It wasn't flooding, but there was noticeable water after a bad rain and in many areas mold was growing. They installed an internal French drain under the wall with the worst damage. The workers were OK but I wasn't told about the large plastic piece that extends a few inches out of the floor next to the wall. However, I was fine with this. No issues the first few months and the pump reported that it drained about 30 gallons of water in total. Then, nothing more for the next 7 months. This was a concern because there were heavy rains several times but it was not pumping water out. Then, I notice several new mold stains at the same problem areas before the drain was installed. Initially, these had gone away but were now back. I'm glad we held off on finishing the basement as I would have never noticed these as they would have been hidden behind a plaster wall. The mold is enough to cause concern and was the reason why we had the procedure done. I spoke several times with their service person "Rene." I was told they will not come out to check on this and to just buy a dehumidifier. I was explicitly told that the drain would solve my problem and if it didn't "just give us a call and we will take care of it." They would not even come out to look at the problem! Save your money and just buy a dehumidifier, after spending thousands to "fix" the problem they will just tell you to buy one anyway. read more

I contacted Keystone Basement Systems with concerns of water intrusion into my basement. An inspector from the company came out and looked around and told me I did not have a problem. I previously had another company inspect the property and was told a doom and gloom story about mold growth and water in my basement. They said they did engineering report, which they never showed me. Never emailed me photos of work being done during each phase. Showed me photos on cracked cell phone which i couldnt see very well. Then after rain storm the basement leaked after water proofing new basement wall they replaced/waterprooofed. Huge puddles of water everywhere. Installed french drain outside house which they tied into old downspout pipe, which foreman of construction said might be clogged, thus making the french drain un- usable. Left debri dumped in backyard. Did not afix the basement window metal window well to house, took one of my basement metal house jacks made of steel which cost 106 dollars, which about 5 phone calls later i got back after threatening to make police report. They want to charge me 18,000 i dont even know if the french drain is at a correct angle. Also the outlet, if it works would be pouring water onto my back patio against the back of house. The original pipe goes out to the back yard grass, which they did not extend to and they only have to removed some small pavers and dig small trench. Its not like they are jackhammering cement, its only moving some small 12 inch cement pavers. read more

He had great communication skills and was readily available on his cell phone. He is very knowledgable and detail oriented, and takes his time explaining what is going on. Keystone installed i-beams in an area under the garage to support the garage floor and painted with rust-proofing. Company was very responsive and helpful. Subcontractor for lighting was excellent. Only three relatively small complaints: they were not 100% clear that they would be drilling in the basement; final quality was a bit off but fixed immediately when I asked; and cleanup was a little spotty. I'm reviewing several years after installation, and the job has held up very well. Would definitely recommend. read more

I was relieved to find the cost so reasonable and warranty transferable within 60 days upon sale of the house. Keystone really does a great job of laying out their waterproofing concept without all the elaborate slide presentations and slick customer brochures. Jeff M. was pleasant, patient and honest which convinced me that I could trust Keystone Basement Systems to do the job right and they did! Dewey, Job Foreman, was great in seeing that his "crew of two" - Devin and J.T. worked expertly to get my French Drain, sump pump and outside water management systems installed timely and correctly. These guys rocked and got the job done in about 2 1/2 days! Many thanks to Dewey, Devin and J.T. who worked diligently and kept me informed of their progress. When the job was finished they left the basement and my yard very clean. I love the technology this company uses. The PumpSky Pumping Station is slick with remote monitoring via Wi-Fi. To be able to check the sump pump from my iPhone PumpSky App is awesome and adds to my peace of mind. What an innovative set up to monitor a sump pump! Whoever thinks this stuff up at Keystone makes sure it works and notifies you if it doesn't. What I love the most is having a dry basement. Hallelujah!
