I have a boiler/radiator heat system in my 1929 Home and it dates back to the 1960's. I needed a service to relight the pilot light. I was referred to Key Stone and they came the next day. Steve was sent and to my surprise he was a young man who loved old boilers and was able to enthusiastically get it working. Steve lit the pilot light, check to make sure everything was working and bled all the radiators in the home. My mother-in-law had an old air conditioning unit that was installed by her late husband. It was a complicated installation, but lasted a long time. However, now it cannot be repaired. We contacted Keystone and they came out on short notice to check the unit. They determined that it was completely out of freon (the old type) and we decided that it was time to completely replace the unit. They worked with me (I am the son-in-law) on options for installation (the old unit was in the basement) to make this more standard. They provided a quote and a date for installation. We returned to Racine in time for the installation and the Keystone folks actually arrived a few minutes early. I quickly showed them the breaker panel, the unit in the basement, and the location where the outside (evaporator) unit should probably be placed. I answered questions about the original installation (it was complicated). They started work immediately, they worked very hard, and the Keystone technicians all worked very well together. They answered my questions as needed. I was very impressed with their professionalism and quality of work. They completed the job, cleaned up after the job, and were ready to leave within about four (4) hours. I would highly recommend this firm for heating and cooling needs in the Racine area. read more

Mike was our tech. I had them just come do a service on our A/C unit. I'm so glad that I did as they found that I needed a new capacitor which was of course replaced. He discovered that my unit is losing refrigerant and that I'll have to call to have them come check my system for a leak. I'm really glad I called. Mike was just awesome. my wife & I just bought a furnace and air conditioner from Dave and I have to commend them for a fantastic job. we have lived in Racine for close to 40 years and stuck with keystone thru snowstorm and bone chilling weather. I called Keystone because they were recommended by 2 family friends and my furnace wasn't working properly. They gave me a time frame of 1-3 and Jeremy made it exactly at 1pm. My furnace was installed in 1999 so I was prepared for bad news. Within 30 min the work was complete and my furnace was operating better than before. I was charged $150 total for the service call and maintenance. Jeremy also explained that sometime soon the inducer assembly may go and gave me a quote to have that replaced in the event that it does. He did not attempt to sell that service to me immediately nor did he try to go thru a list of other suggestions. I'm grateful that I found a company that provides quick, efficient, and honest work. I recently contracted with Dave Katt of Keystone Heating and AC to upgrade the HVAC systems in our 20 year old home. I have used Keystone's maintenance for many years to keep the old systems running clean and efficiently. They have always done a terrific job for us. After my initial call to Keystone, Dave promptly came out and walked me through my options and pricing for furnace, a/c, air filtration, humidity control and a smart thermostat. I also asked them if they would install a new water heater. Although they are not in the water heater install business Dave quickly arranged for a trusted local plumbing contractor to put one in on the same day that the new HVAC system was installed. Less than a week after I gave Dave the go ahead Frank, Steve and Tom, Keystone's professional installation team, showed up on time and went right to work putting down tarps to keep my home clean, removed the old system and began installing the new. They even moved the new thermostat location to a much better one for more efficient operation. Once installed they cleaned up the work site and then walked me through the operation and maintenance of the systems. They explained how the new smart thermostat works and then helped the plumber load the old water heater out and the new one in. What a team!! Louis from Affordable Plumbing did the water heater install and he was just as impressive as Dave's crew. The whole job started at 7:30am and everyone was finished and out by 3:00pm. I contacted Keystone for an issue I had with my furnace. They stated that there is a service call fee to come to the house. However with the service call fee, if they come out anytime in the next three months there will not be a service call fee. So we paid the service call fee and them to change the fuse that was blown. We are selling our house and the inspector stated that the A/C temperature differential was off. So since we paid the service call fee and we had no complaints we called them back out. When they came out he went down to the thermostat and then by the furnace. Now I don't know how the furnace system works and how to check the A/C temperature differential...I just let them do their job. I was then asked questions about it and they were checking the differential for the furnace not the A/C. Then he told me that he couldn't check the A/C due to the temperature outside. I asked him what to do about the inspection report and that I was supposed to fix this problem. Then he decided he would check it and said it was fine. He gave me a slip with nothing written in the charge and assuming because there was nothing done...really...and I previously paid for the service call that there would be no charge. Well, a few days later I received a bill in the mail for an A/C tune up...when all they did was check the temperature differential...nothing else. I called and questioned the bill and the 1st person we talked to said it looks like a mistake and she was going to talk to someone else. However when we called back asking about it they said nothing was going to happen. So an average A/C tune-up should cost $75-$100 at the very most and they are charging me...just to check the temperature differential $115! read more
