I recently received pain management treatment from Dr. Shanbhag for a severe thoracic pain issue,…read moreand the experience was exceptional from start to finish. I arrived in extreme discomfort, and Dr. Shanbhag took the time to thoroughly understand my symptoms and recommend a thoughtful, targeted treatment plan. I underwent a combination of trigger point injections, prolotherapy, and PRP therapy. Although Dr. Shanbhag initially anticipated that I might need three to four PRP sessions, the results were incredible--after just one PRP treatment, my pain completely disappeared. The effectiveness of the treatment exceeded all expectations and made a life-changing difference. The office staff is equally impressive: consistently friendly, professional, and efficient. They help create a calm, welcoming environment that makes every visit smooth and stress-free. I highly recommend Dr. Shanbhag for anyone seeking knowledgeable, and truly effective pain management care. The entire team is outstanding.

Cannot leave a message for a particular provider nor can you check on your appointment. I've been going there for over 20 years. It is a disaster since Sentara took over. I tried to call to schedule an appointment and could not reach the office. They asked me a bunch of questions and was on the phone for 20 minutes only for them to transferred me to the nurse station. There is no way to even call the office without now going through Sentara. When I finally got through with the nurse they send me to the ER. My doctor would have never send me to the ER for just and UTI. They do not care about the "Personal" interaction any more. I hate this office now. I miss my doctor a lot and the small office not some robotic agency. Dr. John was a great doctor and was very personal in the past. I'm guessing the change to be Sentara was a business decision that relieves Dr. John and his previous staff of day to day issues but it's a horrible change!!! Now we can't even talk to the office. If this is now the new normal with the change to Sentara it's definitely not patient oriented or in anyone's best interest. Actively looking for another doctor.

If I think of the top doctors who have helped me the most, Dr Greene is in the top two. His understanding of pain's relationship to a body is years ahead his peers. Aside from his professional acumen, he is a great person and Patriot. I live in another state but would drive 10 hours, without reservations or hesitation, for Dr Greene's medical care. They do not pass out any medication indiscriminately. They do pill counts, drug testing and keep up with current research. The American Medical Association has recently come out in support of pain management at a time when this is a difficult area of medicine to practice. There are many medical conditions that do not respond to alternative pain treatments and sometimes opioid medication becomes necessary for optimal functioning. The current body of research now clearly shows, without any doubt, that pain medication prescription rates and overdose rates have no statistical relationship. None. Zero. Zip. Overdoses resulting in death are almost always a result of illicit opioids like heroin & illegal fentanyl, polysubstance use and occasionally diversion of prescription medication used by someone it was not prescribed to. This is typically a result of poverty, hopelessness, lack of employment opportunities, etc. If we hope to combat overdose rates in our state, we need to start fixing the problem rather than hurting patients in need. I am happy to cite the research for all my claims. I can be reached at rebecca0874@gmail.com It is important to note that over the counter Tylenol kills more people each year than opioids but it's still sold without a prescription. Alcohol & tobacco also kill significant numbers of people and our country largely ignores that. It is important that we support good doctors who are doing their best to help patients with a real medical needs. Comfort and Wellness Center does their job well in a difficult time. We need to protect the sanctity of the doctor patient relationship.
