When we were able to do it, it was just a few days before out trip it Europe. I told him I wanted to be able to walk through Germany. He assured me I could. He was flat out wrong. When I got back he said I could have fracture another disk. He then proceeded to say " Once you osteoporosis your bones are like Swiss cheese. Never did he tell me I had osteoporosis. If he knew that before I left for Europe maybe he should have given me some meds for it. I was then told you cannot see osteoporosis from and MBI the only was you can see it is from a bone scan, which he did not due. I then went to my rheumatology and he did a bone scan and said it do not have osteoporosis. I will never go back to this quack and cannot recommend him to anyone.

I tried to call to schedule an appointment and could not reach the office. They asked me a bunch of questions and was on the phone for 20 minutes only for them to transferred me to the nurse station. There is no way to even call the office without now going through Sentara. When I finally got through with the nurse they send me to the ER. My doctor would have never send me to the ER for just and UTI. They do not care about the "Personal" interaction any more. I hate this office now. I miss my doctor a lot and the small office not some robotic agency. Dr. John was a great doctor and was very personal in the past. I'm guessing the change to be Sentara was a business decision that relieves Dr. John and his previous staff of day to day issues but it's a horrible change!!! Now we can't even talk to the office. I am a volunteer for several pain management advocacy groups, as well as a patient myself. I am…read moregrateful for the excellent job this office does. They do not pass out any medication indiscriminately. They do pill counts, drug testing and keep up with current research. The American Medical Association has recently come out in support of pain management at a time when this is a difficult area of medicine to practice. There are many medical conditions that do not respond to alternative pain treatments and sometimes opioid medication becomes necessary for optimal functioning. The current body of research now clearly shows, without any doubt, that pain medication prescription rates and overdose rates have no statistical relationship. None. Zero. Zip. Overdoses resulting in death are almost always a result of illicit opioids like heroin & illegal fentanyl, polysubstance use and occasionally diversion of prescription medication used by someone it was not prescribed to. This is typically a result of poverty, hopelessness, lack of employment opportunities, etc. If we hope to combat overdose rates in our state, we need to start fixing the problem rather than hurting patients in need. Alcohol & tobacco also kill significant numbers of people and our country largely ignores that. We need to protect the sanctity of the doctor patient relationship.
