This staton was a great station. It went through so many phases when it existed but it was nice to know it was there.

This review is for a certain wanna be DJ, calling himself DJ AMEN. I think he thinks of himself more as a PRODUCER. He doesn't even know how to mix a song in. He starts off his set with introducing himself:AMEN...then YOUNG CALIFORNIA. What the hell does that mean anyway? After his intro, he fucks up every single song with, sirens, horns, and other stupid ass sound affect! And he does that to every single song!!! It sounds like shit!!! And then he keeps repeating his stupid ass name (AMEN) over and over and over and over and over again!! And it doesn't matter what song or beat of the song is, he keeps doing the stupid sound affects sirens and horns!! It's fucken annoying! Also, today they did a tribute to nippsy hustle, (rest in piece) and instead of showing respect and just letting his music play, he had to fuck it all up with his stupid ass name AMEN, YOUNG CALIFORNIA! No respect! This guy is terrible. So anyone reading this, tune into his set weekday afternoons, and you'll see what I'm talking about. This guy is wack!!! read more

As of 2/6/2015, Hot 92.3 is no more. Hot 92.3, the station that played old school R&B and hosted Art Laboe has now switched formats to mainstream rap and is now called "The Real 92.3." Something that I will never understand is why Los Angeles now has ANOTHER rap station! Isn't Power 106 enough? What about Q 104.7? KJLH? Is there really a need for another one? The main reason why I listened to Hot 92.3 was because of Art Laboe. Without Art Laboe, that station is nothing and now that Art Laboe is gone, I see no need to ever even listen to that station. The only radio stations I ever listen to these days are "Old School 95.9" in Ventura and "947 The Wave." Otherwise, I listen to music on my phone and with all these good radio stations disappearing, I have found myself using the phone more and more. I take that back, I have given up on FM completely and now use the phone 100% of the time. UPDATE 10/23/2015: I have been listening to music on my phone 100% of the time since February and I don't miss FM radio one bit! Don't miss the ads, don't miss the songs being cut off, and I most certainly don't miss listening to obnoxious DJ's who love to hear themselves talk. Overall, the station changing format was the best thing that could've happened to me. read more

I can't believe no one reviewed this station yet. This is a great radio station if you're into oldies and old school r&b type of music. I listened to a couple of songs and even recognized them as original samples for newer songs today. Then again I'm a little bit of a music buff. Surprisingly for a clear channel station, they didn't play the same song each hour, but then again they were doing some top 300 song list today. read more

I used to listen to the station non stop when it was announced big boy was moving to this new station. At first it was really fun to listen to the station. The personalities were great up until Ayyde showed up. Seriously this chicks so freaking rude and ghetto. Always calling out Louie G by bashing on him because he's short. Not a very friendly girl in the business office. I called to make sure I had the right place for the radio station and asked for a phone number for contests. She told me to listen and they give the phone number when it's time to call in. I told her I've been listening and haven't heard a number yet. I was away from L.A. for a few months and returned recently this weekend and I turned the dial to 92.3 thinking to play music instead I'm listening to garbage "Hood Rat sagg'n pants" crap music...hmmm sorry Rap music!! We have ENOUGH of the same stuff playing on all the other hip-hop stations. Just another standard lame radio station for LA. The music has degraded over the years. In the past, it was Ok (when Rick Dees was the morning host), but then gradually their once-decent tunes turned into outdated stuff, and now they keep playing retarded R&B and Hip-Hop more often than ever. Oh, and yes: I have to agree with the other commenters: 92.3 plays same stuff all over again, like a broken record! Thanks, but no thanks! 92.3 will continue to lose listeners, unless they entirely change the format, and make it into a more family-friendly station, without their crappy R&B or Hip-Hop stuff. The format change on 92.3 FM was a big mistake! You hear hip hop music just about everywhere but not your old school R&B.
