I had my hair and makeup done by Krisalyn. She is amazing and I highly recommend her!! Makeup: I do not wear makeup and so there was a little mishap where she thought I had normal skin when I actually had dry skin. The foundation wasn't applying properly and she took her time to take it off and reapply a new foundation that worked better with my skin type. I really appreciated this because I know many would just try to bandaid the situation with more makeup and move on. She put on an orange shade of lipstick and when I asked to switch it she had absolutely no problem with starting my lips over with a different shade. She was so sweet to take the time to fix it. My eyes were watering every once in a while and she was kind and gave my eyes a break and would work on other parts of my face. I loved that workflow and appreciated that she considered my comfort throughout the whole process. I think the makeup turned out beautifully!! Since I don't wear makeup I don't have a reference point, but by the end of the day my makeup was starting to look a little crazy. It was starting to clump together. From a distance I still looked great, but up close it looked weird. I don't have any reference to how makeup normally looks over time. So I'm not knocking a star down for that. Hair: omg she did AMAZING! She nailed the look. I didn't have extensions and she made my thin hair look thick and full. I LOVE it! And it definitely held up well throughout the day. Makeup station: this is where things get a little weird. So the location is a one room office space. I was in the room and it had great natural lighting and a ring light so she was able to perfectly get my makeup done. There is also a station in the lobby of the office space. The lobby is very dim with no natural lighting and no ring light. If my makeup had been done over there, it may have turned out differently. Another client came after and was worked on in the lobby. It was dim and with no ring light and I can't imagine how they would properly color match her foundation. She was unhappy with her service and left early. That is the reason for the minus one star. I don't know if all of their work is quality as the makeup stations are not created equal. I think this is definitely remedied if they would update their makeup stations to have the proper set up and lighting. Artist experience: so you don't really know who's doing your makeup until literally minutes before your appointment. That was concerning. Luckily mine turned out well. It also seems that all the makeup artists have different training by different people. I'm not sure if they have much quality control so i can't say that all the makeup artists are great. I can only say ask for Krisalyn because she's amazing. Location: it's located in a small business plaza off a busy street. The plaza itself is a little sketchy. Lots of homeless people sleeping in the corners. The suite has 2 locks. A locked gate and the lock to the entrance of the suite. Though I appreciate the safety of the extra locks. I felt that it wasn't the best place for a makeup studio. It wasn't really even labeled from the outside. Inside of the suite is a little run down. Doesn't look very professional. It looks more like a bunch of thrifted furniture that they put together to make cohesive. One makeup station didn't match the other. The lobby makeup station didn't even have a mirror. read more
