I had high hopes of finding a new threading location for eyebrow maintenance. I was exceptionally disappointed with my experience here, beginning from when I entered the salon. Upon entering, the woman at the front desk asked me what I was in for, I said upper lip and side of face. She assigned me a seat and advised I would be waiting my turn. Okay, no problem, I sat down and waited a few minutes. Shortly after, another woman appeared speaking 10000 miles an hour (clearly in a rush to get it over with), asking what I wanted to be done, I said upper lip and side of face. She spent no more than 3 minutes threading when she said, "ok, all done" eager to get me out of the chair so she could work her way to the next. I looked at my face, she had done a good job with the upper lip but had failed to complete the side of my face, leaving it 3/4 done. At this point, I was so over being rushed into my seat, and out, that I just got up to check out and leave. It gets better, I go to pay, and the girl asks for my card, not advising how much the services were - a bit suspicious --- I had to ask and she said $30, I found this a bit steep considering what little work was actually done and adding up the math from their "provided charger" and all in under 5 minutes! After receiving my copy I saw they charged me "$30 full face" --- ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Will not be going back here, for having someone "thread" me for 5 minutes and then proceed to rush me as I attempt to request the full job be completed...and then charge me for something I did not receive! No wonder the girl did not want to tell me how much it cost! They were charging for a service I did not even receive! Horrible, cannot trust places where they rob you blindly and cut corners to earn a couple extra bucks. Place has a sweatshop vibe to it too. You have been warned. read more

Be careful, these people cheated me out of money. This was my first time at this salon. I wanted full face threading but Ruby said I didn't need to do it. So she charged each separately which actually cost more plus I found out later they charged extra $5, I have no idea what it was for. I didn't see the point of arguing, being Indian myself i know how annoying and difficult it is to fight. Definitely not returning. It's Sunnyvale, not Palo Alto. Way overpriced. Staff has a lot of potential, but they are held back by an owner who does *not* care about clients. Running a business is a delicate balance between caring about clients and caring about your bottom line. There is no balance here. Staff constantly complaining about ridiculous rules. One such rule is that clients not allowed to give holiday presents to their stylists (apparently owner is "worried the stylists will go out of their way to provide good service"). In general, place is clean and big. Staff is polite. Owner is crass and crude. If you're willing to spend more than you need to in the South Bay, go. Else, find another place. P.S.: desk receptionist: there are two. One is good, can communicate, is respectful of clients. The other one is a little clueless. read more

Finding a place to trust with your eyebrows is always a challenge. I love this place! I always go for eyebrows and upper lip. They do a great job shaping my brows and somehow, they are the least painful threading salon I've been to! Prices are great - $10 for brows, $5 for lip. This place is a revolving door for wannabe beauticians and hair dressers. Imagine clueless noobs trying to cut your hair or shape your eyebrows, it's scary. I have been here a few times for eyebrow threading. For what they charge, the service is not reliable at all. The folks at the front desk are extremely uncultured and tasteless in how they try to woo customers. I have been coming to this salon or the past 2.5years now, which is why it saddens me to give such a poor review. This review is entirely for the owners & management of this salon and not the staff, who are absolutely excellent at what they do! I will be taking this up with the Better Biz Bureau as well. Last weekend, after a hectic Christmas week with the family, I decided to pamper my sis who was to fly back to NYC the following day with a hot oil head massage, something she had heard me rave about for years! We made an appointment with my favorite ladies to do the massage and arrived on time. Issue 1: We were told we'd be getting alternate people to tend to us as one of the ladies hadn't arrived yet and the other had to watch the front desk in the absence of the lazy owner who hadn't bothered to show up yet either (we call this Indian standard time). I was sad, but didn't want to fuss so said okay. Issue 2: although the massage was okay, they were done in less than ten minutes, whereas my normal massage goes on for almost 20-30mins! Didn't fuss...my mistake. Issue 3: we were asked if we'd like our hair washed, which doesn't happen normally so we assumed there'd be an extra charge. We were told it was part of the service, so we said - sure! After washing our hair with ice cold water (hot water was out) we were asked to sit under those hot air steamers until they figured out what to do next (we were the first suckers to have said yes to this EXTRA service)!! Being an extra cold day, my sis wanted to blow dry her own hair and asked if she could borrow the hairdryer. She was told they'd blow dry our hair for us for an extra $5. Again, not wanting to seem cheap I said - sure! Issue 4: my sis went to the owner to pay, she had finally shown up and was puppeteering the show from afar (shouting at the salon ladies for styling my hair instead of blow drying it normally and threatening to charge extra), she was charged $125. My sis not knowing any better paid in shock and came back looking distressed. Her hair was still oily and damp!!! I asked the owner politely why she had charged double the price when I normally pay $30 for the same service (which in the past has been better)! She shrugged and asked her employee to explain the pricing... Supposedly we'd been given the 'Special' head massage (not having asked for it) + head wash = $50 per person. Plus the $5 for blow drying and an extra $15 for tips!!!!! Talk about daylight robbery. I was in complete shock...how do you argue after the fact when clearly we can't prove the massage was nothing special!? I'm terrible at complaining at the best of times, but I stood my ground because this was meant to be a treat for my sis! But the owner did nothing, she just shrugged and said - "sorry you feel that way, maybe next time it'll be better". I would give it less if possible. As a long time eyebrow threading fan (I don't do my eyebrows any other way), I love the high an eyebrow well done can give you. I've had a couple of botched jobs over the years but they were always willing to correct it. The reason Khoobsurat gets such a low mark is cos of the attitude they gave me after botching up my eyebrows. It was my first time threading in the bay area and I was trying to be happy with whatever I got. But I came out with really uneven eyebrows. (My left was so much thinner than my right) When my mom saw that and requested that something be done to even it out, the girl who provided the service was so rude. She claimed that my eyebrows were uneven to begin with (I've never had this complaint from anyone else) and that she did the best she could do. My mother said please just try and make the right one thinner. and the girl says she will not do it because she didn't want it on her hands if it gets worse. I had to resort to going home and plucking my right eyebrow to shape it to match. At least it was correctable. Such bad service doesn't even deserve a star. read more

I've been to this place too many times in the past couple of years and got many services done. I would have given it 1.5 if yelp allowed me, but lemme tell you why it gets 3 stars: 1. Overpriced: The amount you pay for facials is ridiculous especially when the facial rooms are no where like the other nice fancy spas, but the price is just about the same. And they play only one sound track which is Fur Elise. Probably they think that is the only song that is soothing haha... 2. Owner: Who is extremely obnoxious. She is there just to squeeze out the gals who there and the customers. She wont tell you if there is an on-going deal unless you spot it on their paper banners in the salon. And she tries to be all sugar and spice and everything nice , but you can see through it, pretty fake Not a very nice person, I heard many people (including the ones that work there) say that. Seems like her daughter will soon take her spot. 3. Noise: the gals keep yapping away to glory in one of their Indian languages (Punjabi I suppose) and they are pretty loud and sometimes irritating. 4. Eyebrows/Waxing/Haircuts/Mani -pedicures: These are pretty decent. Most gals are good with eyebrows and waxing. The Iranian women are good with hair. There are other better places for nails. Bottom line: Dont expect any loyalty programs from this place. If you are ready to shell out money, and dont care for ppls attitude, or are time bound, visit this place. Okay, I used to like going here when it was in the back of the saree shop... ever since they moved to their own salon I've felt kind of awkward going in. I get weird looks and their prices have gone up SO HIGH. I don't usually stick to a specific threader but I have never really had an EXTREMELY botched job... The reason I am giving it one star is because over the years the friendliness has slowly vanished and the quality of their services has gone down while their prices continue to skyrocket. I used to pay $8, then $10, then $12, the last time I was there (3/2/2013) I went to the cash register and the owner said $15... yes, FIFTEEN. In shock I handed her a $20 and she handed me $5 not saying thank you but "BYE BYE" in a very rude tone. No tip that time. My experience the last time I visited was so weird that I have to give them 1 star. Never going back again, now that threading has become more popular I'm sure to find a good studio somewhere else. read more

I am thoroughly disappointed! So much so, that I am writing this review on my drive back home. First of all, it is unprofessional to be talking to someone WHILE doing my eyebrows. That was the first minus. Second, there was no shaping done on my eyebrows. Yes, the excess hair was removed. But I can do that myself- I paid $10+ tip for the shaping, which they are supposed to be trained to do. The second minus. Finally, they are overpriced for their sub-par services. As nice as the place looks, it is a disappointment. They used to do a better job back when they were a small little boutique inside the clothing shop, but I think the success has gone to their heads. I am going to go home and fix my eyebrows, so save yourself the misery of having unshaped eyebrows and go to Sumi Beauty in Mountain View- she actually does what she advertises to do. I do not like this place at all. I have never been to such a horrible place. I am used to the threading in Artesia. $5 - $6 threading. Service: The boss seems mean and rude. You can not pay with credit card under a certain amount so they sell you a $30 gift card. So I have been here twice because I had to use the other half of the gift card. The thread is cheap so you often feel the thread breaking. IT HURTS! I started to tear up when she threaded and I've never done that before. They are not gentle at all. They do realize this is a woman's face right? You need to be gentle! Have some FINESSE!!!! Cost: It is really pricey for eyebrows and upper lip. It is $10 out here for just eyebrows. I know it is more expensive out here not very competitive pricing. I would give it zero if I could. If the boss lady was nicer, it would be completely different. I thought the next update review I'd leave this place would be higher marked than the previous one I had left a few years ago. Unfortunately, after several attempts and giving them the benefit of the doubt, I'm going to leave a last review with a one star. This place is definitely a hit or miss when it comes to quality of threading. Depending on who you get, you can either have great eyebrows or really near to non existent ones. The last visit I paid them, I had walked in and seated a good 5 minutes after. I had told the woman 3 things: to keep them full despite how sparce my eyebrows are, not too highly arched, and not thin. What happened? She did the complete opposite. I've never wanted to cry over my eyebrows as much as I did right then and there. I was sitting in the chair, thinking, "Why does it feel like she's taking off so much hair?" Next thing you know, she puts the mirror above me to take a look at her work and I almost cried. My stress and anxiety sky rocketed because she had completely wiped out 90% of my eyebrows, making it nothing but a line. I might as well have asked for round, thin, sharpie looking eyebrows. I was mortified and voiced out how much I wasn't pleased. The lady didn't seem to understand and kept insisting that she was just following the natural arch of my eyebrows. BUT DID YOU HAVE TO TAKE EVERYTHING OUT? She even called out for another lady to look at my eyebrows to attempt to explain what she did, which was exactly the opposite of what I wanted to be done to my eyebrows in the first place. My eyebrows are really sparce, so I actually fill them in. A line of an eyebrow is definitely something i DO NOT want or ever want again. I will not be coming here anymore, nor would I recommend it for friends nearby. I didn't even get an apology. This was months ago though, maybe they've gotten better. They've left such a bad impression on me from that last visit though, that I do not dare walk back in ever again! CUSTOMER SERVICE: hit or miss. Love this threading place, I have been going here for years, clean environment & they also have a promotion, do a Manicure and Pedicure you get a complimentry threading... Not a bad deal. I've had their facials... They use Shanaaz Huessin facial products, it makes your skin glow.. I have super sentisitve skin & it woks well for my face... no breakout causing nothing.. I really like the job they do on my eyebrows, but I wish they were a bit more professional. Stop gossiping among each other and stop speaking in Hindi or Punjabi or stop charging your customers so much for threading and be like those typical Asian owned places. What also is super irritating is when they have 2 customers and 5 estheticians, and they hover over you speaking in Punjabi/Hindi to coordinate. God forbid I stand up, the little girl runs out at you from behind the counter and throws her hands up in the air and says "we're working on getting you seated, just a few more mins of wait time". If it's absolutely necessary do it behind the scenes not at the front desk. I don't care just don't do it in front of me or run at me with your arms in the air. It's only my eyebrows for crying out loud not an air strike you're coordinating. Decent place overall, clean.....just needs to polish up their etiquette in order charge $10 for eyebrow threading alone. Getting your eyebrows pruned every 3 weeks aint fun! Ow!!! Only if we still lived in caves and covered with layers of hair! ;-) Since we live in a modern world and keeping our pretty faces pretty is a necessity, I like the fact that I can choose threading over waxing. I recently discovered this threading salon after the lady at the previous place I used to go to reduced her hours. I tried it out once and I've been going there since. While they do offer other services like facials and waxing, I have only tried threading of brows and upper lips here. 4 stars for hygiene 4 stars for well designed salon. 4 stars for having a few good threading specialists. My fave is Raman. I am very very very -insert a 100 verys here - that's how picky I am- when it comes to letting someone even touch my brows. Raman is very good at threading. She does a great job, keeping the pain level to a minimum. I have also at a couple of occasions gotten my brows done from Shefali when it was urgent and Raman wasn't there. Shefali is quite good too. It really helps when the salon has more than one talented threading specialist! They take only cash. Slightly more expensive than your other Indian threading salons, but they do a good job! and cheaper than your modern waxing salons! read more

My eyebrow threading experience here was fine. My manicure/pedicure experience was not. It took an abnormally long time compared to other places, they were very rough on my toes and it actually sort of hurt, and I had to ask for a second coat of polish! One of the two girls working on me was new I think so I'll cut her some slack, and the other woman who worked on me was very nice, but still only two stars due to the poor quality. read more

I have been going to Khoobsurat for quite a long time, in fact since the time they were located inside the Sari Shop. The main reason I continue going there is because of Raman. Though the process is very painful, she is quick about it. She shapes my eyebrows divinely.Sometimes she hands me off to the other aestheticians if she is busy but I always insist on her doing the eyebrow area. I have also received facials out here. I have had oxy-facials, gold facials, pearl facials, and the honey facial out there. They are always trying to push the oxy-facial at Khoobsurat but since that seems to make my skin dry, I opt for the gold or honey facials. I have had facials from different aestheticians but I personally found Monica to be the best for this job in Khoobsurat. I only wish that there was more attention paid to the privacy aspect. Though the rooms themselves are private, people keep coming in and going out, which leaves you feeling awkward. I have also done a full body waxing here and they do a thorough job of it. My other gripe with this place is the gossip that goes around there. Most of the aestheticians speak in Punjabi and assume the customers do not understand what they are saying, but ladies we do. A relaxing atmosphere is always appreciated, especially when you are going through a painful process and all the gossip does not help. read more

Azeen is the best. I always ask for her. I have sensitive skin and I usually get cut when others do my eyebrows and upper lips. Today I got a full face threading from Azeen and not a single cut. Awesome. The salon itself is ok. The staff can be loud. They just renovated the place and though the renovation doesn't look expensive or tasteful, really spruced up the place. I have had facial here before. While the facial was decent enough, the loud continuous ticking of the timer was so disturbing. I could hardly enjoy my facial. Never came back. They also try to sell you services ( at the counter or while getting serviced). The most common is the herbal bleach. I have just gotten used to it and politely refuse. read more
