RUDE is an understatement. Made an appt as a first time client. There is no reservation system so I called to confirm day of. I plugged Khuan's Hair Design in my GPS. When GPS said I had arrived I didn't see the Salon and took a few minutes to look for it. By that time I was 5 minutes late. I called and the salon owner said I was at his old address. Khuan is very Talented....I have been there 5 times for my cut and 3 times for my 2 year old daughter.... he will always ask me if i want him to use scissors or the blade before we start and he will try and get as much information from me on what I want done... I moved to Smyrna pretty recently and needed to find a hair salon close to home. It is hard to find hair stylists who are comfortable with cutting really long hair and the way I like it cut. I have Asian straight, waist length hair. I usually like it in a deep v shape with layers from my chin down and thinned out so it doesn't have so much weight. I called a few days ahead and made an appointment with Khuan for Saturday at 12. I had no problem finding the location and we started at my appointment time. DON'T EVER WALK INTO THIS PLACE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HAIR...REPUTATION, OR YOURSELF IN GENERAL. I saw all the WONDERFUL reviews this place got on Yelp and i was desperate for a new haircut so i said "hey why not, it SOUNDS like a good place and not too expensive..." Man.... was I wrong. Walked into this place... the lady that works there says "can i help you" and i said "yes... i just need my haircut, just a trim i think" and she said "thats all!?" FIRST sign of somethin' weird happening... THEN i said "well i actually really need a new hairstyle cuz i kinda just let this one grow out to.. BLAH.. i dont even have bangs anymore.. but i don't know what i want!" (even though i had a remote idea and a pic saved on my ipod for the general look) so she told me it would be 15 mins and i can look in the books and get some ideas... sounds innocent enough... so i sit down... on the seats.. covered with suspicious white hair.. and look at the books they had... ALL from the 80's.... MAYBE... some 90's... I've known Khuan for many years, I went to a barbar shop one day in Cobb, the hair stylist was Khuan, I was very impressed with scissors skills and did a great job, so kept going back to him for hair cuts, he had quit that job and had moved Sandy springs, I guess I found him through word of mouth and got my hair cut there, he was telling me he is going to start his own store in Smyrna soon... Several Years ago he opened his own store in Smyrna across from Rite Aid next to a package store. I've seen one day, a lady came crying, she went to a hair stylist elsewhere and they messed it all up... she asked Khuan to see if he can fix it. after 30 min or so her hair looked amazing, she left with a big smile, Khuan is very talented. Khuan is awesome. I ended up getting my hair cut here out of pure chance. I was getting ready to go out of town and really wanted to update my haircut. A male coworker was always raving about his great stylist that was located about 5 minutes from the office, so I asked him to see if he could get me an appointment that day. He did, Khuan worked wonders on my hair, and the rest is history. The shop is located in a strip center off of Spring Road, nestled between a liquor store and a farmers market, and the mirrors on the wall scream 1986, but don't let this deter you. Khuan listens to what you want and gives you a great haircut/color that doesn't leave you bankrupt. These days I am all about keeping expenses to a minimum, and this way I don't have to feel guilty about keeping up with my hair. Seriously, I get my hair cut, leave a tip, and still walk away having spent less than $30. I think you can understand why I've been a loyal client since discovering him about a year and a half ago. I got my hair cut here sometime last year. I called and made an appointment the day before; I guess Khuan's no super busy on fall weekends. I didn't have to wait long when I got there a few minutes early, and Khuan was all business. I wasn't sure about how much hair I wanted cut (it was going to be either way short, or left long), and Khuan advised me to keep it long because I'm young. So, I opted to keep it long. I liked the haircut initially, because it was different from what I had before. But, it was honestly kind of bland. I wanted something more interesting than the cut he gave me with a couple of long layers. It's grown out to be incredibly boring--I'm used to haircuts that still look interesting once they've grown out. During the cut itself, Khuan was really quiet. I think I prefer a little more small talk, to be honest. The haircut was cheap (less than $25), but I think I'm going to pay a little more and keep going to Salon Lotus from now on. My last haircut from there was $42, which isn't breaking my bank by any means. read more

Went to this salon based on the positive reviews I saw here on YELP! Khuan truly lives up to his online reputation. I got a relaxing shampoo, simple cut, and blowdry style for $20! That is an unheard of price in any reputable salon :) One criticism I have for Khuan, please hire a receptionist, if only part time. I was a little put off that Khuan kept answering his cordless phone (business line) during my service. If you're that busy, a receptionist would be a great investment for you. Also, the salon is quite dated, a modern remodel would really compliment your fierce skills! A new paint job and more contemporary art peices would do the trick! Khuan is the man! When you find a barber you like this much, hang on to him. It took me a few tries and bad haircuts before I found Khuan on yelp and decided to drive all the way out to Smyrna to give him a try. His shop is nestled in between the Cobb Farmers Market and a liquor store, but be brave. It's well worth it. Khuan listens and takes directions very well, and is as courteous and professional as you could want. I guess I should have know better than to go into a place with "Hair Design" in the title for a hair cut as a walk-in.. I walked in wearing a baseball cap while a couple of other gents were getting their hair highlighted. The owner, Kahn, took one look at me and said "I'm over booked, so....." and left it at that. I felt that he was being condescending and that I was pretty unwelcome. Maybe he was overbooked, although I only saw two others, I any case he could have been polite about it; I will never step foot in this place again. read more

I saw this salon one day passing by, I thought I'd give him a try...walked in and saw Khuan doing a lady's hair, asked when his next afternoon appointment is available...made one for 2 days later. I had him shampoo my hair, then sat down for a consult..I told him I wanted a clipper cut on the bottom and to leave it long on top. He put a guard on his clippers and went around my head on the bottom, and then said he's finished. Got home and looked in the mirror at the back. He didn't bother to blend the newly clippered bottom with the upper sides and top. Didn't finish my haircut... I will never be back. Google and yelp info says this salon is closed on sunday, however it's not. So be aware, if you call him and i think he has a mood to take an appointment he will. I again called and confirmed he said yes, he will take the appointment. Now, i call the salon before 10 and ask whether i can come later.
