When I saw a new halal shop I had to give it a try! All the meat halal and all animals are killed humanely. They have an array of products from American but style meats to kabobs and middle eastern patty's. I also get my eggs there now; which are directly from Hamadan's farm. Can't say enough positive things about this place. Lastly, the prices are what you'd expect at Costco but you get top tier meats! Highly recommend giving this place a try, you wont be disappointed.

Even though the store is a little hidden off of Arden Way, it is bright and clean. The owner is so welcoming and friendly. He was very open about where they get their meat, and he butchers it himself . We went fairly late in the evening, so there wasn't that much meat in the display, but what was there looked fresh. I impulsively bought some ground lamb They have such a wide array of meat including bison, goat, and rabbit. No pork of course, it is a halal butcher. They also offer meat packs that give you a nice discount, and they are open to switching out meats in the pack. I appreciate that, it is not always an option. The prices are very fair. They also have a nice range of spices. We are having a big family barbecue in a few weeks, and I will be going back with the grill master to pick up meat. I look forward to supporting this family business in our neighborhood!

I decided to cook all of the sausage the next day. If I meal prep and make the patties and cook all at once there is less waste. I initially sniffed the meat and it seemed off but I cooked all of the patties anyway. During breakfast my mom and I grabbed a patty and it was awful. The bite that I ate left me sick most of the day. Later that evening my mom went for a slice of the head cheese and it was old, hard, and dry, well past the expiration date. I will notify Sacramento county vector control, because I suspect a good portion of the meat in the case is past the expiration. On the plus side, the employee behind the counter was very polite to my mom and I.

It smells like meat. The meat counter smells like meat. The chicken and beef have flavor. What you buy in the grocery store has almost no flavor and has no smell. I think people who review butcheries poorly have never been in an actual butchery and don't know what meat smells like. They have the most flavorful chicken I've ever purchased. Yes it's an old store. It looks like a mom & pop store from the 1960's. It might not be your vibe. They have always done us right.

I first visited after seeing a social media post recommending this place, and I'm so glad I did. It's always nice to try something new and walk away with such a great experience. This is a small, local meat and grocery market that truly delivers quality and service. Inside it looks like traditional Mexican markets with a variety of things to see and smell. I noticed they also serve food, but this time I came just to shop for Mexican grocery essentials--and they have a little bit of everything. The butcher was excellent: friendly, skilled, and professional. I really like that they don't sell pre-marinated meat; instead, they marinate it fresh on the spot upon request. The prices are fair for a small local business, and honestly, I'd rather spend my money here than at big chain stores that don't appreciate their customers the same way. When checking out, a kind gentleman (possibly the owner) greeted us warmly and even offered a free pint of salsa as a thank-you gift. That small gesture of kindness really stood out--it makes you want to return, not for the free stuff, but for the genuine appreciation and great service they provide. The salsa tasted amazing!! I highly recommend giving this place a try. On my next visit, I plan to check out their "pan" (Mexican pastries) and the restaurant side, which also looked amazing!

Hello to the fresh sturgeon steaks that called my name. My favorite fish is very hard to find and super expensive. These steaks per pound seemed way cheaper than any other meat or fish since this economy jumped into the handbasket. The sturgeon was delicious grilled and seasoned with a little duck fat oil amd lemon. I also got some enormous thick loin lamb chops and some veal stew to make my mother's fabulous veal saute (on the stove as we speak) recipe. They had real almond macaroons and an amazing assortment of Ukrainian, Russian, and Armenian delicacies and staples. Staff was friendly and answered my nosy questions; check out was easy and uncrowded. Worth a trip.

When I came in for my interview, the owner flat out, asked whether I was married. I found that question odd and said I was married. After that, the interview felt over, he didn't ask any more questions about my experience or anything at all in fact. He took a phone call, paced around while talking, didn't tell me to wait, and then opened the door as if I should leave. I tried to hand him my résumé; he only nodded and didn't take it, so I left it on his desk and walked away. He never called me back, which didn't surprise me. My friend later said that once he found out she was engaged he would make passive aggressive jokes about her fiancé, questions like "Who is this fiancé you keep talking about?" or "When's the wedding? It's been a while." She often felt uncomfortable around him. About a month ago I went in to buy a cake. I'm not familiar with Slavic cakes, so I asked to try a piece. The worker let me taste it, and I asked them to cut it in half so I could buy one piece. At other Slavic stores (including this one), unless a cake is sold boxed, they'll cut to size. When she cut it, she then insisted I had to buy both half. I told her I only wanted one; she got irritated and said she'd get in trouble because the leftover half was small. If it's sold only whole, that should have been stated up front when I ask to cut them. I ended up spending about $50, which felt excessive. My aunt was upset too and said the worker had lied and forced me to buy the other half. The store itself is okay. Don't buy the potatoes, they're often rotten or moldy. They always have beets and dill, which is great. I love the hot food staff; they're always sweet, friendly, and patient!
