This place is a hidden gem for realll. We have been coming here for over 4 years now and were never let down. Their Shawarma tastes exactly like what I had in Syria I always get the chicken plate and my man gets the beef plate and it hits every single time what we do is order first, then go look around the store and honestly impossible to leave empty handed. I found a really good brand of Makdous (i was lowkey praying it tastes good bc i would hate to be disappointed) and it tastes exactly like what I have had before, i was so happy AND my man loved it too the cheese is also pretty good super soft, I finished both with my pita bread in 3 days. We came in with friends and met a few more, this is a neighborhood market and restaurant with casual patio seating and a wide selection of approachable dishes that maybe you've never heard of, or maybe they're all the dishes of home you miss. I got the lamb shank meal, this was pretty good! Some parts of the meat was juicy and some parts were a bit dry. It was slightly over cooked in my opinion but I know that's how usually the meat is for Arabic food. The rice was flavorful and went well with the lamb, I love the herbs they used. They also gave a side of diced cucumbers, tomatoes and olive salad which isn't pictured. This was very filing and lasted me a couple meals! They have a small seating area right outside the shop. Ordered some spinach pies and Arabic pizzas (sfiha) for a family event. The order was ready on time and they offered a discount if you ordered 40 or more individual items. The spinach pies were some of the best I have tasted and were rich and savory. The sfihas were very good, almost as good as my families homemade version. The staff were helpful when placing an order. You always find great food, in the least places to look..... I was thinking to find something different. I saw this place I said what the hell. I've had a lamb, shank and fish and chips. So I decided to get them a try. I took the order via Uber eats, and it arrived very quickly all still very hot. I was leery about. The fish and chips they always arrive usually soggy so I asked for it to be extra crispy. Well lo and behold it did it was crispy and still hot on the middle without it being burnt. It was not like the fish and chips the English style, but it was pretty good. They only gave me mayonnaise. They did not have Tartar sauce. And they gave me only 1 ounce of coleslaw. The colewas really good. I was surprised next time I order here I will have to get a larger portion. But overall it was excellent. The other item was a lamb shank on a bed of rice. Big and meaty and very tasty though and unusual flavor for me. It is a little bit more of cinnamon than anything else. But I am always up to try something new. .. They gave me a small portion of what seemed you like to be a salad. It had very slice of small cucumbers, olives & other vegetable and I know you're oil. I only wish they gave me more. It was quite delicious. Last but not least it was a some type of bread with cheese. Not a lot of flavor with a regular people probably more than you deserve. It was overall very good. A little bit soft a little bit crispy. Definitely worth the money. Very excellent good meal a surprise kind of a hole in the wall place a lot better than these overprice expensive restaurants they charge you a lot and give you very little. I also get the chicken they have grilling on the spinning grill (not sure what it's called) but the seasoning in that chicken is amazing !! LANGUAGE BARRIER WARNING As a frequent guest here I can attest that they have unfortunately gotten our order wrong every single visit due to language barriers. I'm not sure what gets lost in translation but we either have something missing or they put in a wrong order. There's even been a time during a phone order that they confirmed having beef shawarma, but upon arrival they apparently do not. It is quite terrible timing because then one of our family members is left out and hangry. Aside from that the store has amazing seasonings to replicate the food at home and delicious desserts. I went with the Traditional Chicken Shawarma Meal (~$10). It includes the chicken shawarma sandwich cut into pieces (that's what makes it "traditional"), fries, pickles, toum (garlic paste), salad, and a drink. This is a really good deal! The chicken shawarma was super tender and full of flavor. I liked the type of bread they use, as well. The fries, toum, and pickles were not only on the side but in the sandwich. The more the better! The salad was a complete disappointment. There was no dressing or anything. It was just cut up lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumber. I enjoyed the meal and for the price, it really is a good deal. Do not overlook this market, it's humble but has a beautiful presence in this neighborhood. We go often for pizza or a manakeesh, and get all our cheeses and nuts from here! Their freshly baked baklava is the best I've ever tasted. Even better than the old Armenian baklava bakery in Glendale Calif.(now defunct). Make sure you get the baklava on the baking pans behind the counter, not the prepackaged stuff. You'll pay more but it's so worth it. OK, so I stopped buying bread from Babylon City Market because they will hide a few burnt pieces of bread when they sell it to the customers and went to Sinbad, but obviously, it's WORSE. Just went there a few days ago and bought 1 bag of bread and when I came home I found they hide 3 burnt pieces of bread (See attached picture).
