I'm sharing this because it involved a serious safety concern, but I also want to update it to reflect how it was handled once the right people were involved. After leasing a vehicle from this dealership, I discovered that 3 of the 4 wheels were not properly tightened. As a mom driving five kids, that was extremely alarming and something that should never happen. On top of that, there were other issues with the vehicle not being ready as promised and items not included. Initially, I had difficulty getting a response and was very frustrated with the communication. However, after finding the owner on LinkedIn and reaching out directly, he immediately addressed my concerns. He had Jeff, the supervisor in the service department, step in to help. Jeff truly went above and beyond to correct the situation and make things right. His professionalism and willingness to take responsibility made a big difference, and I appreciate the way he handled everything. While the initial experience was concerning, I'm thankful it was ultimately resolved properly once the right team members became involved. read more

I was on the fence about a Kia Sportage because I test-drove one at another dealership and it was uncomfortable in my short test drive. I wanted to give Kia another shot and scheduled a test drive with Kia of Canton but was not able to do one unless I was willing to buy that day, so they wasted my time going there for nothing. They seemed more concerned with selling the price than the actual vehicle. It knocked Kia off my list of vehicles to consider. Terrible service put me in a car that was not working well they did exchange it out but somehow my car was financed and the wrong info was put in. I got constant calls from The finance company and then I had to change the car in the system for insurance purposes to take the old vehicle off but I hadn't received the id card yet and they texted and called everyday for this info! Mind u I work midnights and have a small child so they just constantly bugged me for this info so I had the insurance binder sent and they were mad saying they need id cards so because I was so worn out and tired of them calling me I told them they can call the insurance company versus calling me! I never would reccommend anyone here I do not like how they do business. They were trustworthy to put me in a different car but I never should have had to go through that. ! Kia of Canton, especially Cleveland in the service department get my business because of their excellent customer service. I know dealerships, like most businesses, rely on add-on sales, but I trust Kia of Canton to never recommend unnecessary repairs. I was shopping a new car and searched their website. After browsing, I found a car with dealer discount. Called them two times for several weeks apart and they asked my contact information with promising call me back for the car I am interested in. But got no responses. After a couple of weeks later, I still found the car with dealer discount in their website and drove down to the dealer. They said only particular car has that discount and website just automatically adds dealer discount for all cars even if those cars are not available for that discount. This dealer is not honest and whatever they show in website are disguising customers. Bad dealer. read more

I wish I could give it no star: My engine light came on and would be slow as I accelerated my vehicle. Mechanic near my home told me my 2016 Kia Soul was one of the 1.6 engine issues and to take it to Kia to have them see the issue because I needed a new engine. July 17th had my Kia dropped off because of the engine light and it not wanting to turn on. After a few weeks of them finally looking at the vehicle they stated I had no check engine light so there was no news for a diagnostic test just needed a new battery and replace oil filter because it was burning oil...WELL DUH YOU MUST'VE RECEIVED RHE NOTICED FROM KIA HQ TALKING ABOUT 2016 KIA SOULS 1.6 ENGINE ISSUE WITH EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION ( P1326 code just in case they'd like to say my car didn't have a reason for a diagnostics.). Well once I received my car back it worked okay but I felt like something was off. 2 months later checked the oil and practically empty. And around October 15th Check engine light is on and won't accelerate over 20 miles per hour and happened on my way to work on the expressway. Took my Kia to my mechanic and he did the test KIA should've done ana found the code and printed out all the work Kia didn't do. Now I'm without a car and once I get to another Kia service center I have to wait 6 weeks for them to look at and once they get the okay that I need a new engine I have to wait for a new engine and was told I'll be without a car for up to a year and have to find my own rental or vehicle for a year till they can fix my car. This could've all been dealt with in July if they actually believed their customers the first time. read more

Ok. Sooooo, I have no qualms with this dealership or their representatives. In fact, they were very polite, informative, understanding, and patient with me when I took my Kia Soul in for repair, just to find out that the engine was blown. My mind was Blown right along with the engine. I contacted KIA Corp. And because I didn't have a warranty,( 2nd owner, does NOT get the initial warranty, has to pay for an extended warranty, FYI)and because I had not had the "software" updated( which I was unaware of until my car broke down) I was stuck with a non operative vehicle with a HUGE payment! And because of this, HAROLD was very understanding and patient with me. I was desperate for answers (and not on my best behavior) and due to Harold's professionalism, and patience, I was able to handle my situation as best as I could. Once again, I would definitely recommend this facility, from the Sales Department, Service Department, as well as the Parts Department. Everyone here is very Professional, and helpful. After tangling with another well known Kia dealership(s) after being lured by their very misleading radio ads (hint- TODAY), we were nearly turned off Kia overall as a brand. This place saved the day. Honest people. Painfully honest but in an appreciated way. Good product. Hard working. They want your business but they also want you happy. James is super patient. JR is a miracle worker. The whole staff was uber nice and worked with us to get us the exact Soul we wanted at a price that we could afford. Next time we'll be heading straight here. Posting wherever I can! Not pleased with service from Kia of Canton. On 11/23/22 I took car in for squeaking sounds I was hearing. Kia service confirmed sounds. I previously received new pads in July '22 but unfortunately Kia told me the mechanic (not Kia) did not service the hardware and everything was dry. To fix they had to install new rotors and service front calipers. They documented on invoice "vehicle no longer squeaks" I was back on 11/25/22 for same sounds!! This time they replaced rear brake pads and rotors. They documented on invoice "all hardware was cleaned" vehicle test driven no squeaking noises heard. So within two days I paid Kia $948.76! If it had to be done fine but my car was not given a complete inspection or else it would have been recognized on day one when I first took car in for squeaking that all my brakes needed servicing. My second complaint is I go back 02/21/23 because I was hearing weird creaking sounds and I mentioned a burning smell that I wanted them to check out coming from the driver rear side tire. The service advisor stated "you want us to LOOK for a smell?" My reply YES! Well they obviously did nothing! To the SERVICE MANAGER I found my original invoice from February that you did not reprint for me while I was in shop on 04/10/23! You only printed the repair invoice from November. On that February invoice Kia documented "customer states burning smell creaking from rear" BUT obviously inspected nothing thoroughly! Kia wrote "slight noise when calipers engage from old calipers and brackets. Some bushing noises in the suspension, no excessive movement in any bushing found. Noises are due to age, mileage and wear of suspension components" no other mention of the smell I came in for! Fast forward to April 10 I scheduled an oil change and I brought up my concern of smell and that I would be taking a road trip and to make sure everything is ok. After oil change I am then told I need rear driver side caliper! They said the caliper was sticking and measurements were uneven in rear and that it was necessary to replace calipers and pads! At that moment I was very upset this was not noticed in November but definitely in February when I specifically went in for the burning smell and they supposedly inspected. This proved to me my concerns were not taken seriously and I was given an excuse because my car is older. I understand the suspension may squeak from time to time but the burning smell should have been inspected thoroughly! To spend an additional $526 for one caliper was difficult! I would have been more accepting in February because I knew the smell was concerning! To come back two months later and be told that smell is an indicator that the calipers are going bad just did it for me! I've never written anything this long for public view but it needs to be shared. The customer was not heard! Spending near $1,500 on brake repairs in less than 6 months is crazy! Even though the location is convenient from my job I will NEVER visit the Kia of Canton!! I've been a loyal customer bringing all my repairs and oil changes to that location. The one time I didn't was when I replaced my brake pads in July '22 but I took to Kia afterwards only to not be heard! Kia offered to pay for the pads but I had to pay for caliper. I should be compensated for my time and my complaint not being taken seriously! Kia service allowed me to drive with a defective caliper for two months! read more

I took my 2022 kia Soul in for its first oil change and tire rotation. Had a coupon from Kia of America for 29.99. They denied it. Charged me 148.00. Told me I needed a fuel service and engine service to go with the oil change. They said it was part of the maintenance This was complete rubbish. They also tried to sell me tires with only 4,200 miles. They will try and scam up sell you at no regard to the customer I have owned 3 Kia souls over the past 11 years and I will never give them a 2nd thought when it comes to my business and I will let everyone know about these unscrupulous service department sales reps. read more

I don't recommend this location for service. My engine light came on in my 2017 Optima (under 38K miles too) so I took it up there to get checked out. Turns out the transmission was failing and needed to be replaced. They don't do well with communication or keeping their customers informed; I was told the repair could take anywhere from a week and a half up to a month because they didn't know if the trans was on back order or not. After a week or so of no updates, I called and they said they had no update because the part was on back order (but no one ever told me it was). It took about 3 weeks to get a rental car and they had my car for about 3 months. I was called when my car was finally ready and told I had to come up there that day before closing (4 hours from the phone call) to return the rental or else I'd be charged for it. I also happened to be super sick but was not given an exception. I went up there that day and the lady who talked to me was very rude and when I got into my car after 3 months to drive it home (also they didn't wash the car which is typically custom from other experiences I've had with different dealerships), I noticed upon starting my car that that airbag light was on, and staying on. It wasn't on when I dropped the car off. They said they wouldn't see it that day, that I had to make a new appointment, and to do so before the warranty expired in October, a couple months out. I made an appointment for a week later. They kept the car for another week before I finally got it back. The next day, the engine light came back on. I'm now working with Kia Novi and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Also will probably never get a Kia again :) read more

DI NOT GO HERE!!! I brought my car in on a Saturday because my battery was dying. I called first thing Monday to make sure they got all my information and answer any additional questions they may have. NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE! I had to call several times to get someone on the phone only to be transferred again and have my call go to voicemail. I left a voicemail and waited hours with no response. I tried calling back and no one would answer the phone. I left several voicemails and never got one call back. I had to call Kia customer care to see if they could get a hold of them and even they had difficulties getting them to answer the phone and that is just day one. For the rest of the week it was the same thing. I would call, no one would answer. I would leave voicemails, no call back. I would call again later, no answer ALL WEEK LONG!! I could keep going on about my TERRIBLE experience all day long but the message I want to get across is DO NOT GO HERE. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER, THEY DO NOT CALL YOU, THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE, THEY DO NOT HAVE LOANER CARS, THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU THE CUSTOMER. Terrible service. when we went to pick up our car, we drove over 40 minutes, we were told it would be ready and it was not ready. We called the sales rep prior to driving up to make sure it would be ready so we did not waste time. He said to drive right up an he would make sure it was moved to the top of the list. When we got there we spoke to the the detailer to get information and he did not even know it needed to be detailed until ten minutes ago. So we had to sit and wait for about 2 hours waiting for them to detail our car that should've been ready and we were told it was ready and to drive 40 minutes to the dealer for. This wasn't planned maintenance or a scheduled repair. This was "it is raining and I can't get to work safely until someone fixes my wipers." This past Saturday my husband and I ventured into the Kia of Canton looking at new & used vehicles that would not only accommodate our expanding family but also our budget. From the moment we made contact with our sales associate, Jimmy Haddad, we were treated wonderfully! We weren't originally sold on Kia but given our experience, we have found that they were more than competitive with the big 3 in what they could offer to our family. He sat down with us and our sales associate to put together the right plan for us and in doing so, we were able to purchase a 2013 Kia Sorento (which we love and fits our lifestyle). Everyone in the dealership was friendly & curteous throughout the entire process and the team even stayed well past closing to make sure we were well taken care of. Aside from the best personal treatment we have ever received at the dealership, we got the 100,000 mile 10 year warranty on our vehicle in addition to free oil changes and tire rotations over the next 2 years... you can't beat that! Then when we said yes the conversation didn't get any better. Then when talking about a van they had three to choose from but nothing could be done today as they just got in. Leased a 2016 Sorento in December of 2015. Nearly walked away because the finance guy was giving me a hard time about my trade in. Called them in May of 2018 to inquire about an early turn in because I was moving out of the country. We had some trouble at the last moment of sale and I wrote a bad review about our car's windshield being damaged during the detailing, with little resolve or communication from the dealership. I've since deleted the comment. I take it all back, because our salesman called us explaining that he was out of the office with sick kids. He had us bring up the car, gassed it up and is sending us a gift certificate for a steak dinner to make up for the trouble. The work on the windshield was taken care of on their dime and I am now incredibly impressed with their service and resolve. As frustrated as I was, I am now very satisfied. read more

My mom purchased a car here, and suddenly passed away. The car only had 200 miles on it. For weeks I have been trying to find out if the extra warranties that she purchased can be transferred to me - I have yet to get an answer. I asked if I can still utilize the first year of oil changes, I was told yes and made an appointment. Straight HACKS dont use service here. Came in for an oil change and have a recall for a trans cooler hose fixed. I Was told my brakes measured 6front and 6 back out of 10 I told them it was impossible because we just had the back brakes done. He tried to explain how they measure and so on like I didn't know what I was talking about. Finally when I threatened to call my boyfriend he measured again what do you know they measured an 8. They pulled my car out told me I was all set. I get in the car drive 10 feet and the check engine light comes on. They took it back in and said I could pay $100 for a diagnostic to see whats wrong. I declined and Advance Auto told me, for free, it was a MAP SENSOR so I unplugged it and plugged back in never had a problem again. Then the trans starts acting up and back to the $100 diagnostic test again. This place is full of hacks. read more

So, I love Rich, he really tries to help you and will go beyond what I have experienced here. However, outside of him I have not had very good experiences here. I purchased my 2017 Kia Forte from this location and over the last 7/8 months I have had nothing but problems with my vehicle. My check engine light does come on but it is and on and off situation. They replaced my engine three months ago after my car completely shut off on the highway during a snow storm and I got rear ended causing me to spin out and hit the cement barrier. (this occurred after having thought they had fixed the issue with it doing this prior to the accident, I had my children in the car at the time... the driver of the truck kept going smh.) After, I got the engine replace (Lafontaine of Ann Arbor, MI actually replaced my engine) the very next day, my car cut off several times again. Kia of Canton, Ypsilanti, MI took it in and replaced something and I got it back again. The car continued to shut off while driving it. It will not pick up speed, especially when needing to merge onto the highway. It idles and shuts off, the whole car shakes sometimes. I now have an error of MISFIRE ON CYLINDER 4 PERMANENT. I took it back into Kia.... they are still trying to figure this problem out. At this point, I have been sold a lemon. (my coworker and I both bought our Kia's around the same week and she doesn't have problems with hers). Problems... every time I call the service desk... I get the answering machine unless I call from another number. (23 times now.. yes I am documenting everything). I have had to UBER all over the place, miss work, be late for work, stand in the rain and snow for the bus which takes two hours to get me to work and we were almost killed on the highway. I make a car payment every month for a vehicle that is unreliable and even though I have contacted consumer affairs... I haven't any resolve. I don't trust my own car anymore and I am afraid to drive it, having purchased this model because the sales person told me that it would be reliable and good for travel. (My son is a competitive athlete and my nephew plays national baseball meaning I travel a lot and that is why I purchased this particular car! I am frustrated to the point of tears because I am stuck with this death trap and I can't do anything about it and they WONT do anything about it. I am almost at the end of my warranty and there isn't any way that I will be able to continue paying for the repairs that this car has and will continue to need. The whole company has failed to honor their promises "Kia is committed to making ownership a satisfying experience." "At Kia, we're inspired by the idea that you should love driving and owning your car" You deserve to own a car you love" Kia of Canton states, "Kia of Canton is proud to hold the Kia name, and that's why we are committed to getting you into the vehicle you deserve." I suppose I deserve and unreliable car, that puts my family in harms way, and may or may not work? I am hurt, disappointed and frustrated with my situation and my experience. I have sent this location and Kia business and I can't say that I will be able to continue to do that because of the negative experiences that I have had with my particular vehicle. I do think that my car is a bad egg, but just because they can't figure out what's wrong..... I shouldn't have to pay for a faulty piece of equipment. I have leveled up... with zero help or contact (contacted consumer affairs about 5 times). No one has gotten back with me, Ricardo, Jacob...! I have sent them all of my repair slips and there is a stack of them.... NO one has even offered to cover this NEW engine that is currently messing up just like the old one. Focusing on my overall experience at this dealership and not the vehicle itself, because I LOVED my 2014 Optima, I am sorely disappointed regarding my final interactions with Kia of Canton and then Kia Finance soon after. I signed a three year lease with them and the sale went smoothly as well as the free oil changes/car washes throughout the life of my lease. Very minimal sales calls from them. And then they drop a bomb on me upon lease termination that there's a $400 out of pocket fee if you don't get another Kia. This fee was NOT verbally stated to me at signing. The finance manager conveniently glided right over it while he quickly pointed at all of the "important" items to address on the lease agreement, most likely believing it may be a deal breaker if I was fully informed?? I have been in the banking industry for 10 years and have to say I firmly believe this was a complete violation of Truth in Lending Laws. I am absolutely furious regarding this fee...Not that the fee exists, but that I was not INFORMED of it. A friend of mine leased a Kia coincidentally the same week that I leased mine, so I called her to ask if she knew about the $400 fee and she was absolutely irate because she was also not informed at signing. I of course went to the dealership to reason with them and hopefully find some kind of middle ground, and the employee wouldn't stop being a salesman for 5 seconds to have a real conversation with me regarding the issue at hand. He just kept telling me he could get me into another Kia which would waive the fee. All I took from his pitch was that the fee is in fact waivable. Kia Financing made matters 100x worse when I called to speak with them regarding this issue. They said they do ask the dealerships to ensure the buyer is informed of this fee; however they take no responsibility to enforce this is followed through. I told them that was peculiar because the dealership is acting on Kia Finance's behalf, so why wouldn't they enforce Truth in Lending Laws to their fullest extent? Bridgett, the woman on the phone, then said, "Well you don't really HAVE to pay it." Confused again, I asked her what she meant...does this mean the fee is being waived? She replied, "No we are not waiving it because you signed the lease agreement which included the fee. So you could just not pay it and let it go to collections." THAT is their ethical resolution?? Just don't pay for it and let it ruin my credit? I somehow don't believe that phone call was being recorded for quality assurance because she repeated herself two or three times that I didn't have to pay it and to let it go to collections. Obviously that is not a reasonable option, Bridgett. She then tells me to go to the dealership and ask that they waive it since I'm claiming they allegedly didn't inform me of it. Doing as I was told, I went back to the dealership and was directed to their finance manager JR Kennedy who took absolutely NO accountability on behalf of their dealership to even attempt finding resolution for me. I politely asked that they half it with me. But heck, offer me some free car washes to shut me up - ANYTHING. He literally just kept shrugging his shoulders and repeated that he always states the fee and that I didn't have ground to stand on being that I already signed the paperwork. He kept a smirk on his face the entire time I might add...which didn't help my annoyance. While I was standing in the lobby after my meeting with JR there was a customer that was left alone at a desk and asked me how I liked my Kia and said he was negotiating numbers on his lease at that moment. I truthfully told him my Kia was a great vehicle but gave him the heads up to ask about their $400 "Disposition" fee at end of lease. Surprised, he said they hadn't mentioned it even though they were talking numbers and thanked me for the heads up. I just want consumers such as myself to be informed, so here you go: (Via Carsdirect.com) The federal Truth in Lending Act was first passed in 1968, although there have been updates and revisions. This law is designed to protect you as a consumer when you borrow money from any lender. The idea behind the law is that the lenders should make a full disclosure to a borrower of all loan terms. The lenders are required to fully state any charges that are being imposed on the borrower, and fully disclose who gets what fees. In closing....Kia, Shame on you. Seriously. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE! Needed a used car for my girlfriend, was looking to spend around $10,000 for a late model low miles car for her work commute. We were referred here by family to a sales women named Heavenly. Our experience was anything less than heavenly! After looking online we did not see anything that met our needs, my girlfriend called Heavenly and told her that we wanted to spend $9,000 with $2,000 down and she said that she could get us a used KIA Rio that was listed for $10,500 for $9,000 since she had done business with our family before. Girlfriend went in and looked at the car and was pleased. Went ahead with trying to finance, my girlfriend has poor credit and the payments came back at $270 for 72 months! That's $19,440 to finance $7,000 of a $9,000 car. I figured it was just because of her bad credit. I have tier 1 credit so I had them run my #'s. Heavenly told me that the car was being sold for $9,000 but the total purchase price was $11,130. After thinking about it I realized that there should only be about $600-$700 in tax, title, etc. I called and spoke to the sales Manager James for further explanation of the total purchase price and he told me that it was that high because the purchase price was $10,500 not $9,000. So long story short, the sales person Heavenly, told us that the purchase price was $9,000 when it was really $10,500 and tried to hide the extra $1,500 in the finance amount and blame it on a bad credit score. I explained to the sales manager what Heavenly had done and that I was no longer interested in doing business with them. The dealership is under new ownership and the new Owner Bruce Genthe called me within 15 minutes to apologize for the price discrepancy. He was very polite and was willing to try and sell me another car but at that point they had already lost my business permanently. And to top it off, Bruce had told the family member that had referred me to Heavenly, that he was so upset that Heavenly was going to be let go. That was 2 weeks ago, I just called the dealership and Heavenly answered the phone. So the sales reps are dishonest and so is the owner Bruce Genthe, they will tell you want you want to hear in order sell you a car, but it's all lies. Do not buy from this dealership! read more
