Do not use this place. They are constantly changing their quotes. They quoted one price over the phone, so had the work done when it was finished the quote was now suddenly $1more than original quote and they would not honor over phone pricing. The original issue was not even fixed, when brought back they said they would check the issue for free then next day they wanted $200 to check. So if you want your issue not fixed and want the price continually changing this is your place, but if you want it done right go somewhere else. I requested a tow at 10:29 am. They said they were going to arrive prior to 12. I checked for an updated status. At 11:14, it said the tow company was 26 minutes out. Eventually, it was 12 pm and no update. So I called the towing company, and the woman at their office told me it would be 45 minutes because they were finishing up another job. I called after an hour after that phone call because I had heard nothing, and they would not answer. I had my insurance call them at 12:52, and they said that they were still 30 minutes out. So now, I have to call for another towing company to get my car to the shop before close. I will not be using this company, I would not recommend this towing company, and will tell people to avoid it. read more

Did a good job on my truck fast in and be out. I brought my own coils he replaced all eight and charged a fair price.

I had a good mechanic but he decide it was time to hang up his wrenches and retire to Florida. My loss so I've been looking for a new trusted Mechanic. Easier said then done but I got lucky and Mel's Auto Clinic is blue 2 blocks from where I work. I called and he asked for me to stop and let him look at my truck. I was happy with how thorough he was diagnosing the issue. I was given a quote and a timeline for the fix. I was happy with both, fair price and timeline but now the true test. Will it be on time and at the quoted price? The answer to both is yes!! They finished early and the bill was less than quoted. I've been driving my truck since the fixes and she runs great. This is the place my vehicles will go from now on. They have great customer service and a great location. I was surprised that they had 4 bays for car repairs and plenty of mechanics. I would recommend coming to Mels and giving them your car or truck repair business, you'll be glad you did. read more

Worst of the worst!!!!! Stay far, far away from these shady people! Waited over 2 1/2 hours for a tow that's to Ford Motor Co roadside assistance, and these folks were a no call, no show. When I called to ask for an updated ETA, the guy that answered was of no help and could only tell me how he wasn't there. We called Westland Car Care, and they came to help me in less than 15 minutes. Roadside assistance I flew out of Detroit airport and parked my car in an off site parking lot. The transmission was slipping and I wanted my car towed to a dealership for repairs while I traveled. Mels Promised 90 min response time. They never did arrive. When I called to see if car had been towed they claimed their wrecker had broken down. No communication with me about any problems. Said my car was next on the list and it would be completed by end of day. Next day car had not been towed. When I called was told they had a full days schedule but would try to work me in. I was furious and reminded them I was yesterday's client who had not been serviced and should have priority. Was told their wrecker would not fit in parking lot. Too big. 20 hours agoNEW Went through my insurance company for a tow. Estimated arrival of 90 mins turned into 5 hours. Then they dropped my car off at dealership and didn't tell them my car was there. My car was left in the back of the dealership lot with the key in it. Never did the tell anyone my car was back there. I lost an entire day of getting repairs done because of this company. They were awesome! They responded within a hour. My bad, I had My phone on silent due to work and forgot to change it back so I didn't hear it when they arrived. I thought they would've knocked on my front door but I didn't know they had a policy against that. But they had tried to call me several times that I didn't realize at the time. They schedule a tow time of 70 minutes for us. After 4 and a half hours they still had not arrived. When we called our insurance company they informed us that Mel's auto clinic reported to them that they completed the tow when they actually never showed up or called us to info us that they were not showing up. Stay away from this company I would hate to see how responsible and conscientious they are with auto repairs if they cannot even show up for a tow. read more

DO NOT HAVE THEM AS YOUR TOW SERVICE!!!!! They are soo terrible I've been waiting for almost 2 hours just to get my vehicle towed! I called and the first two times he kept giving me times that was inaccurate. Then I tried calling again once it got close to the almost 2hr mark and they started declining my calls. I called a total of 6x's back-to-back and each one they declined. Then finally on the 7th call he answered and said, "Hey this the guy still waiting right". So, before sending your car to the auto dealer, call Mel's first. Jeff came out to my house to look at my car that was broke down in my driveway. He figured out quickly, that the battery was no good and a sensor was worn, he suggested I go to autozone and have them install a new battery. Then, bring it to him and he'll take care of the sensor for over half the cost of a dealership. He was great at explaining everything over the phone. Great customer service! read more

Poor service after my insurance contacted me to tell me that Mel's will be assisting me with a tow, I contacted them to let them know my situation and make sure they knew my location which was the freeway and the mile marker. They confirm eta but 10 minutes later i get a call that they will be canceling my tow and will be unable to assist me, and they will contact my insurance. Mel's Auto Clinic is AMAZINGGGGGG. I requested a quote right here on Yelp and within a day, I got a response back with a quote that fit my budget, thankfully and the owner, Sean, invited me to come in for more accurate quote after they check out my vehicle. I knew I needed my control arms replaced, but after he inspected it, there was an up charge due to my vehicle being 4 wheel drive. No problem! I made an appointment, for a later date, of which I came in a few minutes before, dropped my vehicle off and they were done within 3 hours or so. I came right before closing, and picked up my key! The next day, they called to follow up with me, which I thought was an extra touch of awesome customer service. Seriously people, they are the best and I'm coming back and have been telling all my friends to check them out! If there's a worse auto shop in Michigan I haven't found it, they made a fool out of me. Lazy and/or overworked mechanics, rude techs, and smooth talking managers when it counts. You get what you pay for and when you prove you're a loyal customer they'll feel more comfortable doing a two week job over the course of three to four months and charging hundreds in hidden fees. AVOID! Many other review sites list deceptive practices. My experience was the same. Brought in for a starter repair. Replaced it and then called me to say computer [PCM/ECM] was bad( It wasn't when towed because I could not have tried to start the car and have noises if computer was bad) When I told them I wouldn't pay because it happened when they were repairing the car, they avoided calls for days and when I finally got hold of them, they said they would remove their new starter and leave me to tow a car with a starter problem AND a computer issue that they created. I went there, they ran my jimmy out of gas which in turn destroyed my fuel filter. The young guy there slipped up in front of us by telling us and the secretary instantly hushed him. They reluctantly replaced it after a battle...did I forget to mention they actually called me and asked us to bring them a can of gas!??!!! ANOTHER time, they locked my keys in the car and destroyed my window when they finally got the car back open to retrieve the keys, and when my window fell off the track add I drove off they CLAIMED is because my track was dry and our was my fault. SCAM! If I could give no stars I would. Do NOT go to this auto clinic. I took my car in here because it wasn't starting the tow truck driver told me it might be the starter so when I went in I asked them how much it would be for a new one they jumped right to replacing the starter and charging me for one without testing to see if it was even bad. Went to pick it up on a Saturday and the car was shaking violently and misfiring (something that my car wasn't doing before I took it in) had to take it to a different shop because they didn't have a mechanic in to look at it and I needed my car on Monday. Had to take it back to Mel's after I picked it up from the other shop because they said the starter wasn't put in right and it was still not starting every time. When I took it back they then said they "thought" it was a relay and it would be $200 just to replace the fuse. My boyfriend said it was an outrageous price and that he would just go buy one and switch it himself. We brought the old relay up to autozone to test it and the guy said the relay tested fine but we still bought a new one just in case (The relay cost us $10) when we went to go replace the fuse ourselves found they literally cut out my automatic starter without telling or asking me. Something that was over $200 just to put in a couple years back and I was left with a bundle of cords in my back seat plus the car still didn't start once we replaced it. I agreed to get a used engine and since then the car has overheated once a month. I have taken back to them charged me up to 200 and nothing was fixed. I've been going here for a few years, never had a problem till recently. Monday I had the tow truck driver come pick my car up. Instead of putting my car in neutral to get it on the bed, it was in park and he was dragging it. And said it's fine it's on ice as my car is trying to grab the driveway to stop. My car keeps randomly shutting off. I picked my car up yesterday after replacing the alternator and battery that was supposibly wrong. I started it and it's still squeeling. From canton to Wayne it shut down 3 times. I took it back at Mel's about 10 in the morning and here it is 24 hours and the mechanic never looked at it. So he'll have the car for a week and costed me $500 for nothing! I will never come back to this place. In the last 5 years of me coming here they now have lost my business read more
