The people at Huntington Bank on Main Street in Ann Arbor Michigan are soooo caring, kind and…read morerespectful of their clients. I know there's a lot to read here, but if you like a good story then read through to the end, because you're not going to believe what they did! My name is Kathleen, and one day I completed my banking transaction in only a few minutes. I could see through the glass doors that the driver of the Mobility assist vehicle who just dropped me off was still parked out front, head down, taking care of paperwork. I quickly called the dispatch and told them I was done with my banking and was trying to get to the door; I asked the dispatch to please hold the driver so they could take me straight home instead of me having to stand there and wait an hour or so for a different vehicle to be sent out to pick me up. The dispatch person utterly refused to allow me to ride back home in that van, and was so rude and horrible in the manner in which she said it that the Huntington bank employee was shocked at what he could hear her saying to me through my phone. Please note: that's just how elderly/disabled people are treated a lot of the time, you'd be surprised. Anyway, I said okay, okay and I hung up the phone. By then the van had left. So I started walking towards the door; it's really hard for me and I was struggling, but I decided to just try and make it home if I could. I only made it about 20 feet outside of the bank when someone called out to me. It was one of the Huntington Bank employees. He said he was in a back room, but heard from the people up front how I was treated and he didn't like it. You know, this really speaks to the quality and character of the people they hire at Huntington, that they could stand up against something they felt was wrong; especially in this day and age, I couldn't believe it. Everyone in the bank was outraged at how the Mobility dispatcher treated me and they decided they weren't going to allow one of their elderly customers to struggle or suffer just trying to get home. The rep told me they were going to get me home safely, and that's what they did. He carefully helped me onto a seat in the nearby outdoor patio area of a local restaurant, then instructed me to wait for him to come back and bring the car around. It took about 10 minutes; I realized he had to walk to the parking structure where his car was located, through the structure to get to his car, wait in line to check his car out, then drive around to where I was patiently waiting for him. Then he drove me home with a smile. Yeah, my bank actually did that for me. Gotta love those guys at Huntington, praise God!

Her name was Benny, I hung up after I got the information I needed, she then proceeded to spam call my phone 3x and left me a very rude and aggressive voice mail. Stating and I quote, "Can you please call me back to rutely hung up on me? I wasn't finished with our conversation if you want to find out what it is. Call me back" Spamming my phone 3x then leaving that type of voice mail is not how you get someone to call you back. She had horrible customer service skills and needs to get that attitude fixed.

Friendly, helpful, and well-trained. Much better than the surly at best staff at my old bank back home in California. That bank should have gone bankrupt in the Great Recession but it was too incompetent to fail! - Online banking at UMCU is much, much better than my other credit union out of state. I get an email whenever there is a transaction greater than $20. - UMCU branches are located where I tend to commute (except the Battle Creek Indian casino) - Fee-free ATMs in their partner network (including Pittsfield/Ann Arbor Costco) are numerous and in many cities both in and out of state. Yay! - Account is free of monthly fees with payroll direct deposit. - Many branches offer complimentary coffee in the branch lobby. It's not the DOUCHIEST swill like the stuff served in those fancy cafes downtown (the usual suspects) but it's better than that dishwater that comes out of a vending machine! Cons: - No EMV chip yet embedded in their debit/credit cards. Traveling overseas? Leave your card at home and bring cash, pal! - Getting a mortgage at UMCU is a good way to accelerate premature aging. (Pro tip: Get Oil of Olay in bulk at Costco) I had 45% for cash down payment and was flabbergasted at the number of hoops that I had to jump through and the amount of utterly silly red tape. I am shocked they didn't ask for my first born as collateral! - When the ATM is being serviced/reloaded, just turn away and go to another branch or network ATM. I think there is an IQ maximum for servicing the ATM. You will wait for the Second Coming until the ATM is back in service (I have photographic proof!) Better yet: Pro tip #2: Use the Depression-era tactic of hiding money in your mattress! Instant ATM! You have 24/7 access to YOUR money! - UMCU uses bic clic pens, the most epically craptastic writing instruments known to humankind! Want to be driven to thoughts of suicide? Come to a UMCU branch and just try to use a blue UMCU ball point pen! It's really an Admiral Ackbar trap! I suspect there's a hidden camera which the staff uses to laugh at clueless customers who are stupid enough to use those pens! Ha! Fools! - Whoever chose the toilet paper in the branch restrooms need a ROPE around their neck! What is the deal with the one-ply Scott sandpaper TP? Is there some top secret plot to kill Ann Arborites via rectal bleeding? - Most credit union members do not realize that the $1,000 "free" life insurance is really not free. UMCU is actually a second beneficiary. Your estate gets $1,000 (big whup) and UMCU gets a far greater amount! They win BIG when you die! The disclosure is buried in that fine print that no one can read. Another Admiral Ackbar situation! Now you know! The case is blown WIDE OPEN! - Another daily indignity: whoever selected those Tyvek card sleeves to protect the credit/debit cards also needs a ROPE around their necks! Right. Now. This cannot happen soon enough. Here's the problem: the Tyvek sleeve is so soft that the mouth bends on itself, making it virtually impossible to re-insert the card! I am paralyzed in my left hand and can only use my right hand to put the card back into the sleeve. I CUSS and SWEAR in Vietnamese EVERYDAY (really bad words not appropriate for this fine forum) at the room temperature-IQ moron who picked this sleeve as I use my card several times per day. I cannot speak authoritatively about auto financing as I am a cash buyer. (Last three vehicles including new). Call me "old school".... Good luck and enjoy! Recommend to other Yelpers in need of a quality financial institution! -EBS

Old National was a decent bank in the beginning but their excessive fees for transfers of saving to checking! Out bank acc was hacked through our cable company the fraud department from Old National said I was in on the fraud because I did a two way verification with a company that I believed to be Netflix. Old national regional Manager Lisa Grimmette from the Saline Michigan felt it was best to end our relationship because of the history of our private account not meeting their expectation of large amounts of money or deposits . Also the Branch mangers can write notes into your personal account and it gets shared with me it wasn't meamy to be shared with me! This bank has no corporate phone number to reach out to them! That's a red flag. Before you deposit your hard earned money into this bank. Please take note that this bank is a bully bank they are NOT trustworthy and this bank has pending legal action going against it. If they do this to all of their blue collar customers they will be out of business. Branch managers can document anything they want ! Not returning money that was stolen . While this account was being investigated for fraud instead of putting a hold on the account and closing it they decided to put all the charges we had incurred and charge us overdraft fees the max amount and extra charges while being investigated for fraud charges Any other bank would have closed the account and put a hold on all the charges. Nope they are part of the problem with the fraud! Avoid this bank at all costs!

It soon became apparent this company does not know how to commit to a deadline as we almost lost this transaction at every step due to their lack of appropriate action. I give the loan officer an "F" for communication and another "F" because they FAILED the entire deal. This was a simple 30 day escrow that took almost 60 days to close!!! We received a "notice to buyer to perform" on the appraisal contingency (meaning if the buyer didn't perform within 2 days the deal was dead) and another for the loan contingency. We then received a "Demand to Close" because this company couldn't close on time and could not give us an estimated closing date! The loan documents had not even been sent out (usually a week or more prior to closing) on the day it was set to close! The Loan officer never informed us there were any problems. I was told by my client this has happened to her on two previous transactions. So far, because of this loan officer, my client had to agree to a $100/day per diem penalty until close of escrow. This cost my client $2500 out of pocket. The lender didn't offer to help cover that cost. By far my worst experience with a mortgage lender. Buyers BEWARE!

The service manager, Doug, at this dealership is an embarrassment to the Honda brand and a direct…read morerisk to consumers. Doug falsely advised me that warranty work must be performed at the selling dealer. This is a violation of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, which explicitly prohibits conditioning warranty coverage on the use of a specific dealership. When I cited the law by name, he became combative, accused his own service advisor of lying, dismissed her account as "confusion," and when I requested the name of the owner, responded "you're smart, figure it out yourself" before hanging up on me. He then called me back unprompted. I attempted to de-escalate, stating that we were adults and that he should not be speaking to me the way he was. His response was, "you should look in the mirror." He then continued with name-calling, mockery, and laughter before hanging up on me a second time. My husband was present and witnessed this call. This was not a business dispute -- this was targeted verbal abuse directed at a customer who cited her legal rights. It is fully recorded. The vehicle was purchased new at Suburban Honda. The shock issue has been documented across multiple prior service visits at Tamaroff Honda without resolution, and has been logged with Honda corporate on three separate occasions. This dealership had the ability to verify that service history by contacting Tamaroff Honda directly or by contacting Honda corporate, where the complaint history is on record. They elected to do neither. I was left stranded off-site at the mall from approximately 9:00 a.m. until around 3:30 p.m. with no transportation, no status updates, and no proactive communication from the service department. When I asked Doug for a status on my vehicle during his second call, he told me my car was "sitting out front" and to "come get it," and directed me to ask my service advisor if I wanted to know what had been done. No explanation. No summary of work completed or outstanding. By midday I still had no meaningful information, and I located the General Manager's contact information independently and initiated contact myself. It was the General Manager, Corey, who provided the status update the service department had failed to communicate -- and it was Corey who ultimately ensured the ADAS repair was completed. Doug had only authorized an oil change. The documented ADAS and suspension defects were not addressed until I escalated over his head. Neither Doug nor Corey offered a loaner vehicle at any point. The only mention of a loaner came from the service advisor, and it was explicitly conditioned on me agreeing to pay out-of-pocket for the shock replacement -- despite this being a documented warranty issue. The part also required ordering, meaning the loaner arrangement would have extended into the following day. Conditioning warranty-adjacent assistance on out-of-pocket payment for a covered defect is improper. I purchased this vehicle brand new with 8 miles on it and paid in full. The shock defect has existed since the date of purchase and remains unresolved to this day. It has been documented across multiple service visits at two dealerships and logged with Honda corporate three times. I left this dealership with the ADAS issue addressed only because I escalated to the General Manager myself -- and I left with the shock still broken. A safety-related suspension defect, documented repeatedly and acknowledged by Honda, remains unrepaired. Complaints have been filed with Honda corporate, NHTSA, the FTC, and the Attorney General. All interactions are fully documented, including recorded conversations. I am prepared to produce that documentation publicly if this review is disputed or removed. The facts stated are accurate and documented. I stand by this review in its entirety. This review will be available on other platforms as well. It is also worth noting that I am a woman who cited federal law, asked direct questions, and refused to be dismissed. If that is being characterized as disrespectful, I would encourage this dealership to examine why a customer advocating for herself within her legal rights was met with verbal abuse, mockery, and being hung up on -- and why holding your staff accountable for that conduct is being framed as a lack of respect.
