They have quite the menu. Dim sum is served with their housemade trio sauce to elevate the dish. If you like heat, you'll love this!! The chow lo bak go and truffle butter udon is really good. But save room for dessert cuz the tempura cheesecake is to die for!!! Happy hour is 3 - 5:30pm, 9:30pm - close.

So when the opportunity arose to pop in for a quick drink and some food, I was pretty stoked. We showed up shortly after 6:00 on Thursday evening and the place was empty. As far as ambiance goes, the joint wasn't super promising; there was an oscillating fan sitting on top of one of the tables, a woman was caring for a baby near the back, and the music was being piped from a very clear Bluetooth speaker. Not great. The food and my drink fared slightly better. For my cocktail, I went with the Lucky Strike ("Lucky Charms Milk Punch + Nikka Days Whisky"), which I thought was fine. There was no real complexity of flavor and I thought that it was too sweet, but I basically enjoyed it. We got a couple of Dim Sum options, the Har Gow ("shrimp") and the Cha Sew Bao ("barbecue pork bun"), and they were both pretty middle-of-the-road but generally satisfying. The three accompanying sauces helped, too. I feel like Resurrection was having an off night, so I'll maybe go back and give it another shot in the future.

Reservations open online one month in advance, and they offer two seating times: 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. There are three different price tiers for the omakase menu. My husband and I decided to go with the $190 CAD per person option, which is about $136 USD. We were served around 20 different items, and honestly, everything was delicious! The entire dinner took about 1.5 hours, and we were seated at the countertop, which made the experience even more enjoyable because we could watch everything being prepared. I highly recommend Sushi Kaji!

Unfortunately wasn't able to get counter seating but we were still able to enjoy the food up close and the theatre from afar. I like how they have different menus, so we upgraded from the standard one to get one with wagyu and the other with sashimi. Standouts for me were: - Wagyu Sukiyaki: melt in your mouth wagyu, perfectly salty-sweet sukiyaki - Tuna Tartare: best mouthful of the night - Scallop: plump and juicy - Saba Noodle: the little shrimps added a nice texture - Yuzu Sorbet: refreshing end to the meal - Plum Wine: excellent companion to the meal Place is small but well laid out so you don't feel cramped. Service and prices are expectedly high. Master chef had a playful energy. Overall, can see why this place has set the omakase standard for years.

Known for their ramen (which we did not have as we had dinner previously, but we will definitely come back to try). Instead we feasted on small plates, Japanese poutine (which was not small but shareable), karage, matcha cheesecake and yatsuhashi. We got there after 9pm, at the time only one other table was occupied but it is only a 4 table shop so it is very quaint and personable. The Leafs game was on, a few Toronto team sports memorabilia donned the wall by the TV, a soccer jersey hung which gave it a bit more character ... I love the idea of being able to watch sports and snack on yummy delicious snacks. It is a great place to hang out and chat with friends, maybe even a date The dishes were great. We were happy, warm and full! On top of it all the chef had comr over to chat with us too, he introduced us to the yatsuhashi and we learned he has beem operating for 8 years. The name, Nobuya stands for his name and 'ya' means store. We cant wait to go back and try the ramen!
