Cool coffee shop on Airpot Blvd. I have come here to work a couple times and have enjoyed it. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. They have a great lunch menu. The kickin chicken sandwich is a favorite of mine, some of the best chicken salad I have ever had. They also play a great music selection during the day, you are not stuck listening to the same type of music all day. Kickbutt is clean & inviting, without the sterilized corporate vibe that chain shops can have. The quirky martial arts theme sets it apart, but also reflects a spiritual undercurrent of openness and involvement. The management is open to various music performances, as part of that community spirit. I perform there twice a month and enjoy it because I am free to bring in all kinds of musical explorations. The atmosphere is nice. The arts, music and comedy are nice. They have wifi and plugs. They offer overpriced coffee drinks, a large latte with soy is currently over $6 after tax! They either don't have or are always out of almond milk. Their breakfast taco selection is limited. At night, in winter of 2016, they had a barista guy working who seemed to hate his job, serving, people, or comedy night. Their overpriced margarita is tequila with a super cheap bottled margarita mix. I did not dare try it. They don't put their prices on the menu because their prices are outrageous, especially in this neighborhood. It's the most expensive coffee/bar in Austin, and the least likely to have what you are looking for, aside from the arts and entertainment or a place to sit or work. read more

We went two days in a row, one day for coffee and planned to get lunch but the cafe had the strangest odor that made us decide not to dine-smelled like bleach and maybe some incense-but the combination was not appealing. We did enjoy the coffee we took to go. read more

I adore kick butt! My boyfriend and I stopped by because his brother said it was something we shouldn't miss. So on our way out of town we dropped in. Instantly I loved the laid back atmospher and the smile greeting me from behind the counter. The guy making the coffee seemed pretty nice and he was fast. I hate walking into a cafe where it looks like the workers need coffee themselves. I was super happy with the taste of my coffee, KB sized white chocolate mocha. The expresso was mixed right away therefor the drink wasn't bitter. I wish I could give Kick Butt Coffee more than 5 stars! read more

Both locations of Kick butt coffee are wonderful! The people who work there are courteous and knowledgeable and it's great to hear new music. There are occasionally some patrons who some may consider "annoying". However, there is such a wide array of people who frequent the place, I consider it a negligible cost compared to the benefit (being variety, of course). read more

I had planned on ordering food when I saw the female cook walk out of the restroom either tucking her under wear back into her pants or digging for something. Either way she had her hand down the back of her pants. Immediately after seeing her do that she walked in and out of the kitchen carrying customer consumables. Your food items. Some coffee places are too pretentious and edgy for their own good. (Attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed) Butt not KICK BUTT! I had to wait to be picked up from an eye doctors appointment next door and figured it was a perfect place to have a coffee and wait on my ride. The name itself had caught the attention of some bystanders who were outside taking pictures of the sign. I ordered my usual fat free latte w/hazelnut, which I usually have to end up sweetening on my own, but it was just right. My $5 latte here was a filling 16oz. Went to one of their belly dancing shows good stuff. I don't drink coffee but the Chais were pretty tasty, and the staff was super friendly. I had to leave a review since I already commented on the douchebag who gave them a scathing review on their customer service and told Sifu I was coming through. I'm not sure where the dbag experienced his "crappy" service but I am sitting in here after literally sucking down my mocha in record time, a happy customer. I like the vibe of this place cause it's kinda quiet. I guess it's cause of the day i chose to come, a Sunday but I love the Jazz music and open space it provides. The Caramel Iced Mocha I had was effing phenomenal! Since it was my first time, the young girl behind the counter was very sweet and patient with me as I tried to decide what I wanted and cool about my choice. I have stopped here a few times in a last ditch need-to-get-coffee and no time to drive to other shops as this one is literally right on my route. Yummy coffee drinks and pretty good breakfast tacos! The smell of the inside is a little off putting, but that may be seeping in from the shady donut store next to them. The guy making the coffee joked with everyone standing in line, and seemed to be familiar with quite a few of the customers. I ordered a black ice with almond flavoring in it. Pretty good! I would be willing to try this place out again, if I ever end up on this side of town again. (Which is rare!) certainly a good alternative to Starbucks! read more

I visited this place on a weekend. Such a mistake because I was hungry. And they don't make food on weekends. They just have cold wrapped up food from who knows when it was made. Plus is a bit pricy. I love Kick Butt during the day. Rooming, comfortable and enough electrical plugs to work from almost anywhere in the spot. My only issue is the same one I have with most indy coffee shops... The unwritten rule that you must have some dude on an acoustic guitar or open mic EVERY night. Thank baby jesus for noise canceling headphones. I love this place! I just moved to Austin a month ago and I am so thankful I found this gem. I walk in and everyone is nice. I love that I can walk in and Lisa remembers my name and my drink (she is an absolute sweetheart btw!). I'm pretty tame in my drink choices but their iced mint green tea and regular iced green tea have gentle flavor almost like matcha at times. I also like that I can go in on a Saturday morning and watch The Big Lebowski and enjoy a breakfast taco. read more

I ventured over here while my car was being serviced and had a delicious, relaxing breakfast. The breakfast tacos were outstanding, and my drip coffee was perfect--a bit on the strong side, which is the way I like it. The woman who served me was super friendly. I read the paper and ate my breakfast in blissful peace. The bathroom cracked me up with photos of people (I think a lot are faithful customers) "kicking butt." I'll definitely be back! read more
