We've brought all of our kids to the practice and have never had a bad experience. In fact, quite the opposite. I lost track of appointments and was late for one kid while the other kid was away all day. The Merrick office was very kind and accommodatingc booking a replacement appointment for one kid and making space for the late kid to be seen. Everyone on the team, from the folks at the front, to the technicians, to the dentists themselves have been phenomenal. Highly recommend them. read more

Ridiculous! made an appointment yesterday called in said my daughters appointment would be for 10 am tomorrow which would be today have phone records made sure I spoke with the Merrick office when I spoke yesterday apparently they didn't even have a phone call from me saying I called before Tuesday which was incorrect . My daughter missed half a day of school because of this. Asked for a doctors note they said no unless I was seen. Stated that I could wait to see if anyone cancels. I don't remember the male dentists name. I just know he was Asian so I was surprised when he was making fun of my son's name to himself but loud enough for us to hear him! You would think he'd be more understanding of other cultures in the world and that names are spelled differently! I mean absolutely no shame! My son had two cavities in his life and he proceeds to state that he had A LOT of work done to his teeth and how I'm a terrible parent. Even the dental hygienist was embarrassed and shocked by his behavior! I honestly went back to his old dentist (even though they don't take my insurance). I took my son today for his first dentist visit and even though he's seven and this was the first time he was at the dentist and the girls at the desk were very sweet and kind and nonjudgmental and the dentist was amazing. My Son has sensory issues and that is why it is taking me so long to take him to the dentist but I am so glad that his first experience was a Kiddsmiles in Merrick! Not only is the atmosphere so friendly and fun from the PlayStation games to the cool space theme , the staff and the doctors were so welcoming and sweet. Today was my daughter's first visit here after leaving our Pediatric Dentist in Flushing, Dr. Chu. After 7 years with him my private insurance recently changed and my daughter now has Dentaquest under her own insurance. I was very apprehensive about going to a new provider. I searched within the network and did a lot of Yelp research. Ironically, my best friend's son goes to the dentist here and she wrote a 5 star review. Today we met with Dr. Kafi and Kaitie the hygienist. They were very warm, answered all questions and were knowledgeable. What attracted me to this practice was that it is ran by women. Not only that but trusted MOMS. The front desk staff was very professional. I filled out paperwork online and they called to remind me of my appointment the Friday before. As a first time patient I was very pleased. We talked about my concerns and the overall health of her teeth. X-RAYS were taken and her teeth were examined and cleaned. Kaitie educated me on the new flouride treatment varnish. Kids don't have to wait a hour to eat now !!!!!!!! Kids also get to pick a flavor toothpaste during the cleaning. My daughter loved the chocolate ! My daughter loved the cool galaxy design. The Martians and astronaut theme was cute. What I wasn't happy about was the computers with video games that were down and the games that were not working. There was only the choice to play FortNite or Toy Story. My daughter didn't get a chance to play Minecraft and couldn't. What I did like is that they took us right away ! There was no wait. Minus the lack of games, I had a Great experience here. I'm not sure how all the people that wrote reviews had such horrible experiences!! I was recommended by my son's insurance company. Today was my "just turned" 4yro first visit to the dentist (I know I'm so horrible I waited so long) lol I got there 10mins past my appt time. The front desk ladies, were kind and did not have a problem with my lateness. He immediately ran to the Playstation area to play a Toy Story Racer Game. Which allowed me to quickly fill out the forms that was needed. We were called in 3 minutes later. As we approached the back area. My son notice the rocket ship, aliens, huge astronaut, etc. he said "this is so cool" We entered a doubled room that also caught his eye. With a huge flat screen in front of the chair, currently showing Doc Mcstuffins. There was another patient on the other side. But still felt very private. The dental assistant was extremely kind and welcoming. My son became pretty nervous. But she won him over after letting him pick a a cotton candy toothpaste for his cleaning, new spongebob tooth brush, stickers, and a token to get a prize. She got the job done by any means! By the time the Doctor came he was pretty comfortable. And allowed her to do her part. I let him have 5 more mins on the Playstation as I made a 6 months appointment. They get filled up fairly quickly; but that gives you a sense of how much patients they have. I love this place, and my son loves it even more! Took my 2 kids, 5 years old and 4 years old here for a cleaning for the first time this a few weeks ago and the hygienists were great! They made the kids feel so comfortable they couldn't wait to get home and show everyone their beautiful shiny teeth! Unfortunately there were some cavities that needed filled. We went yesterday and we're taken care of by Nate and Dr. Haj. They were AMAZING!!!!! My 4 year old daughter literally asked when were going back there so that couldn't have gone any better. My 5 year old was scared but Dr. haj and Nate explained each Step they were going to do before they did it and they really made him feel so comfortable! Everything was done quick and easy. No pain for either of them! Very happy with these guys and would definitely recommend! read more

I would give ZERO stars but that's not an option. My wife took my son to this horrible place. They must employ people who are second rate dentists. Dr Jasmin said my son had 4 cavities so when my wife asked for his x-rays for a second opinion they said idk why they would say that he only has 1 cavity. I guess they are a shady money hungry company because they said we will give him 2 treatments to stop the growth. Well my wife took our son to our dentist and said he has NO CAVITIES and doesn't understand why she would use a certain floss on my 4 y/o that was hurting him. If anyone read my review about Kid Smiles in Merrick in July......Just wanted to give an update. Back then I was refused receipt for my daughter's dental visit for services rendered. I asked for the billing manger to look up the codes to see what I was responsible for. She tells me nothing will be owed it was fully covered, that is when I asked for the receipt and she flat out refused. I noticed we kept getting billed prior visits after being told nothing was owed, when I would call no one would call back or I would get a run around, so after that last visit it raised red flags. This weekend I get a bill from Kid Smiles for that visit in July. Saying I owe the full allowed amount of $69.00, however the photo of the explanation of benefits shows the insurance paid out $58.20 and Amount owed by me is $10.80. So after being lied to about the coverage, refused a receipt, they are also double dipping! Please beware of this establishment!!! read more

Brought my daughter and son here and had a great experience, I don't understand how people can rip the girls at the desk who are just doing their job,are overwhelmed with phone calls,paperwork and appointments, they are trying the best, give them a break, be patient because the place is always busy for a good reason,anyway just wanted to praise Dr. Marissa who was phenomenal in coaxing my daughter to get her first cleaning, and only 5 years old she was petrified but somehow this woman had the magic touch and was able to get through to her, all in all it was a very very good experience, I do wish that they would bill co payments and other services such as fluoride but I understand the policy, highly recommended regardless. read more

**** HORRIBLE FOR SPECIAL NEEDS KIDS *** Would prefer to give no stars, Scheduled appt. for my severely special needs child that without question would require sedation, confirmed several times if covered by insurance, was told yes. As instructed by office not to have my little guy eat/drink for hours prior, we arrived for appt. While filling out forms (that I was not told to fill out online). My sweet boy was making his normal stimming noises & before completion was quickly escorted to exam room (Felt like his stimming was an issue, OH WELL! That's my boy). Once in the exam room staff who was very nice attempted to take xray that instantly made my little man uncomfortable and uneasy ???? I then informed them he will not allow this and he was scheduled to be sedated for cleaning & checkup. They then told me this would only be a consultation and we need to return another day for the sedation. Then only after telling office not to bill for this appt. due to their miscommunication was I informed the anesthesia was not covered under my son's Medicaid. (I called insurance & they do cover for special needs). This office tells you all is covered and then would have received a bill for hundreds of dollars (900.00) cause the anesthesiologist they use does not accept Medicaid. WILL NOT BE RETURNING. Does not end yet. The office Mgr. calls me to go over my concerns. I explain this huge issue of having my special needs son not eat/drink for hours, miss MUCH needed school for all of the above. Instead of taking ownership of the miscommunication, she implied that I should have known that my child would have needed a consultation and this requires further clearance for his sedation. Maybe the staff that booked appt. Should have told me this in the beginning and include that the anesthesiologist they use does not take insurance. Amazing how they list how they want your children to be comfortable & have great experience, the only good thing about today was my son got a little bouncy ball !!! read more

I have been bringing both my kids here for several years. I have never experienced anything but true proffesionalism from the dentists, hygienists ( a big shout out to Katie) and front desk staff. They take their time and are patient and kind. My kids never carried on at the dentist, even at a very young age, but if they had I am sure the entire staff would have handled it well. At our recent visit we had Marilyn as our hygienist for the first time and she was excellent as well. I highly recommend them! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! i just left my sons appointment he had to have a baby root canal done. I paid for the laughing gas so he would be more comfortable during the procedure. As the procedure started my son began to get a little nervous which is expected since he is only 6 years old. The dentist Dr. Jenna immediately began to get annoyed and said she couldn't do it and suggested we reschedule and have him sedated to which i informed her i could not afford the $900 it would cost to have him put to sleep for the procedure. She became very rude and irritated and began to make me feel badly about it stating it was traumatizing him. I told her to continue on with the procedure she put the gas up a little bit and than my son was fine and she completed the root canal. I left feeling extremely upset due to her trying to make me feel bad for not being able to afford the sedation especially in the day in age we live in with costs of living going up i feel she should be more understanding and provide the same care regardless of my financial situation. I also work in healthcare and could never imagine making a mother feel badly for not being able to afford something! Also i don't understand why you would go into pediatric dentistry if you cannot deal with crying or nervous children! I will not be returning to this office! read more

We love this dentist! We've been bringing our child here for years she loves the fun decor in the waiting room as well as each exam room it's really cute. Our child has had 3 extractions on 2 separate occasions and honestly they each were a breeze. Make sure you get your child the nitrous gas (not covered by most ins but so worth it) it's a very mild dose and helps with the anxiety. Teeth pulled and nobody was traumatized, absolutely amazing! My 2 and half year old has come here on a few visits already and loves it, she's always thrilled to see the staff and I recently took my 16 month old here for his first dental appointment and he did excellent. The staff went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable and encouraged him to get excited about brushing his teeth. I would definitely recommend this practice. read more

Careful this dentist are health insurance scammers! I used to bring my two children here couple times and the fourth time I had enough with them. Every time we came was different dentist. I was told my 5 year old daughter had one cavaity when we first came in, they suggested to leave it and continue to monitor it every 6 months. The second time we came they claimed she had 3 cavaities suggested to do fillings. I denied it I was very suspicious to this. Next visit they claimed she had 7 and must fill in her cavities. I denied it and they called me a irresponsible of me to not do this. This place didnt sit right with me. The reception is disgustingly rude. I went to another dentist which I paid out of pocket and discovered my daughter has one tiny tiny cavity!!! This place tried to scam me and make my daughter go thru a harsh procedure. Moral of our experience I recommend you to get a second opinion if you was told your child has cavities. read more

Aside from 4 video game terminals there are NO toys there whatsoever, nothing to keep the kids occupied. Which you would expect from a kids dentist.... There's a $55 cancellation fee if they don't get 24 hours notice and if you show up over 10 minutes late they won't take you. PLEASE with unexpected illnesses and kids being a bit slow and stubborn sometimes you must be kidding!!! There's a sign that says "No ball playing in the office" which I could understand BUT they give the kids a ball when they finish their visit. And it isn't even a soft one, it's about as hard as a lacrosse ball. I won't even let it in my house! Lastly you would think they would make the actual dentist chair experience a bit less crazy, but there are TV's blasting and all the instruments are laid out. Dont you think the hooks and scrapers shouldn't be visible when the child walks in? Common sense here people.... Just go to your regular dentist and work with them, it would to be better. I would not recommend this office to anyone. The front desk girls are extremely rude, as are the receptionists that answer the phones. They never have any time to deal with people standing in front of them. They consistently screwed up appointments I made for my son. When I called recently to make an appointment to give them one last shot, I was told they wouldn't see my 12 year old son. "He should be going to a general dentist, bye". According to their website they see children and adolescents, but like most other happenings there, they fudge things to suit themselves. The woman didn't even stay on the phone long enough to ask any questions about that comment. Do not take your children here, save yourself the headache. If you love your children do not bring them here. My daughter has been a patient here and we had to go to another dentist to fix the mistakes these dentist has made. Unfortunately she had to get two teeth pulled due to infections from prior work. I highly recommend everyone to take their business elsewhere. I am not advertising a different dentistry but please go anywhere but here. Billing is always a mess as well. I normally pay in full before I leave and I still get a bill in the mail months later stating I did not pay enough. I'm at a different dentistry and what I pay at the time of visit is what I actually owe. I've never gotten a surprise bill. I wish I never found this place to begin with.
