I tried to schedule appointments for my three kids at the dentist on Friday, October 11. I called the office, but no one picked up. Then, I received a text from the office's virtual assistant, Sophia, who seemed eager to help. I explained that I wanted to set up three appointments, and Sophia informed me that they had slots available on Monday, October 14, at 12 PM, 12:30 PM, and 5:30 PM. I was relieved and quickly accepted all three appointments, thinking I had everything lined up perfectly. Fast forward to today--Monday, October 14--I walk into the dentist's office with my kids, only to be met with an entirely different reality. The staff informed me that the appointments I scheduled with Sophia weren't for today. They are actually for October 30. I couldn't believe it! It felt like I had just wasted my entire day, trying to juggle my work schedule and personal commitments around these appointments, all for nothing. What made matters worse was the fact that I had rearranged my work hours to accommodate the dentist visit. I could have gone to work today and simply taken another day off later in the week, but instead, I was left feeling like I had made a colossal mistake. The office manager told me that the virtual assistant "Sophia" is something new that they are trying out and they couldn't accommodate my kids today which only added to my frustration. It's one of those moments where you feel like you're putting in all this effort to balance everything in your life--work, kids, appointments--and then something as simple as scheduling a dentist visit turns into a major headache. I left the office feeling disappointed and upset. All I wanted was to ensure my kids got their dental check-ups without throwing my entire week into disarray. I won't be returning to this office. If they can't even get the schedules right, it makes me wonder if they're truly on top of their game when it comes to cleaning my teeth. I mean, scheduling is such a fundamental part of running an office, and if that's falling through the cracks, what does that say about the attention to detail for the actual dental work? It's a bit concerning! I want to feel confident that the people taking care of oral health are organized and reliable, not just winging it when it comes to appointments. It's just hard to shake off that doubt when you're sitting in the chair, thinking, "If they can't manage a simple schedule, how can I trust them with something as important as teeth?" In the end, it's about finding a place where I feel comfortable and assured that I'm getting the best care possible, and right now, that's just not happening here. If there was an option for me to give zero stars, that's what it would be.

Dr. Shor worked efficiently but still managed to spend time explaining the procedure. The new dentist, Dr. Shor maybe my least favorite dentist yet. I have a small mouth so naturally my mouth does not open as wide as some others and Dr. Capone and his hygienist worked with me on that but Dr. Shor basically yelled at me because it wouldn't open any wider for her while she was working on me after keeping me waiting for 30MIN to see her. She is also a bit unhygienic, blowing her nose with gloves on and then trying to get right back into my mouth without washing her hands and changing gloves. If it doesn't work in the food industry I'm sure it wouldn't be allowed in dentistry. Not only that but after having a cavity filled by her 2 weeks ago, my tooth is still sensitive and I can't chew on that side at all when I never had any pain before. Once she fixes whatever she did wrong on my filling I will not be returning, I may not even be returning for that.

There's a free three hour lot off of S Front St between Main St and Elizabeth St as well. Hi Dental is actually considered out-of-network for our dental insurance, but every single member of my family hates the dentist so it was of the utmost importance to find one that we actually do love. I spoke to Kate, the receptionist, about our insurance situation. I stressed that I didn't mind a reasonable cost but that I was concerned about extreme, surprise bills. She got our information, spoke to our insurance, and was able to be very transparent about the charges that we may incur. I also received handy text reminders on my phone before our appointments. The office itself is clean and brand new. We actually lived in the same building when Hi Dental opened and I'd been eyeing it as a potential dentist for two years before mustering up the courage to bring my family. There's a restroom right off of the waiting room that's large enough to accommodate our double stroller and myself. There's also water, tea, and coffee available. My daughter enjoyed the little reading nook and kid's books. There's also free wifi available that was easy and reliable to connect to. As aforementioned, no one in my family enjoys going to the dentist. My young daughter and husband straight up hate going. My daughter refused to even open her mouth up for a dentist up until her appointment with Dr. Im. So that meant she never had a successful dentist visit until now at the age of five. I mentioned this on the paperwork new patients fill out before being seen. Dr. Im read it and had a brief chat with me before they brought my daughter back for a cleaning. I was able to stand in the hallway by the exam room and observe her appointment. I knew it'd be a home run as soon as Dr. Im offered to play something on Netflix for my daughter to watch during her appointment. Dr. Im and Kate explained everything that they were doing before they did it. A positive time at the dentist for my child is priceless because it makes my life easier. For my husband and I, Dr. Im showed us the x-rays of our teeth before doing a cleaning. My husband is an orthopod and seeing our x-rays clearly on the large flat screen tv was just a nice, quiet confirmation that Dr. Im is being honest with her suggestions for further dental care. We both found it easy to talk to her about our respective dental concerns. I also thought Dr. Im had a light, gentle touch when it came to the actual cleaning and Kate was also not overzealous with the suctioning. We got a clear breakdown of the cost of our visits and a bag of dental goodies at the end of our appointments. Dr. Im and Kate transformed our family's negative perception of dentist visits. I'd highly recommend Hi Dental to everyone!
