From the moment we were called back, the assistant was incredibly rude. He didn't let my other kids come back with us and had me leave them alone in the waiting room. He asked what my child eats in a very judgmental tone, and then made a snarky comment implying that cavities are caused by "too much McDonald's," which felt unnecessary and insulting. On top of that, they wanted to redo X-rays we had already completed just a week prior, which felt like poor planning. If they needed new images, that should have been communicated before making me come in, instead of wasting our time. The whole experience left me feeling uneasy and judged rather than supported as a parent. We will not be returning, and I would not recommend this office to other families looking for a kind, professional environment.

With that said, the front-end experience has been poor. A little background. I received an Explanation of Benefits from my dental insurance company (Delta) along with a check. I asked if my ex-wife had paid anything out of pocket, and I was told no, she hadn't. I called the dentists' office to ask why I received the check. I was told that my boys saw Dr. Shelton that day. I was then informed that Dr. Shelton doesn't take Delta while Dr. Gibbons does. Weird, but ok - I know doctors carry their own insurances, but I find it odd that the practice doesn't carry the same insurance for all providers. I did confirm that their appointment was with Dr. Gibbons, but when they showed up, my ex-wife was told that they would see Dr. Shelton that day since Dr. Gibbons was out. No big deal. But, at no time was she informed about the lack of Delta insurance coverage with Dr. Shelton or what would happen if she saw someone who didn't cover their insurance (end result is not a big deal as you will see, but ugh to the lack of communication). I digress - back to the check I received. I was told that I would need to endorse the check and return it to their office. Ok, also not a big deal. I then asked if they could make a note in their system about the insurance coverage so that in the future this wouldn't happen. This is where things go off the rails. I was told that it was MY responsibility to understand which of their doctors carried Delta and that it was my responsibility to ensure that I was seeing the correct doctor (wild). I asked how I was supposed to know that Dr. Shelton didn't cover Delta and why that would be my responsibility. I was assured that they told my ex-wife about it at some point. I won't go into "she said-she said" said details about what the receptionist and my ex had to say, but their stories differ. The receptionist began to get very short with me to the point where she said our conversation was unbelievable. She even asked if I would be cancelling the boys' future appointments so that I could create two openings for other customers (excuse me?). I explained as calmly as I could that I wanted to prevent this from happening again as driving the check and EOB to their office was inconvenient to which her retort was that I could just mail it in instead (also inconvenient). We ended the conversation without cancelled appointments but some frustration on both sides - I don't think she liked her (their?) quality practices being called into question. If you're still considering this practice (which you should in my opinion), take the following tips - 1) Know if both doctors take your insurance so that if something unexpected happens, you know who you can and can't see 2) Call ahead to make sure that you and/or your children will be seeing the doctor they are scheduled with that day to avoid an unexpected switcharoo like we experienced It's worth repeating- we have had very good experiences with this dental practice in general; however, I'm reviewing the practice as a whole. The lack of communication and the front-office rudeness I experienced are being taken into account. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could, but I'll round up to 4 since it's been more good than bad.

Dr. Chung and his team have been absolutely phenomenal. They've never recommended anything that wasn't absolutely necessary. They will talk you through everything and keep things very honest with you. The team does a great job of being on time with your appointment. They even call and text a couple of days before to remind you that you have an appointment. The office might be a little tricky to find. It's in the Lambeth House. He was very dismissive of the bone loss showing up in my x ray and kept saying let's see in 6 months. He barely even looked in my mouth. I decided to get a second opinion. The oral surgeon was appalled and informed me I need to have the implant removed and get a bone graft. No amount of "gum massaging" is going to solve my problem. I would not trust Dr. Chung with my oral care and I am finding a new dentist immediately.

The hygienists are pleasant, keeping my kids calm by explaining everything they are going to do. The dentist they see is super friendly and personable, she has a great rapport with them. My kids have come here for cleanings, cavity fillings and slightly more complicated things. Each has been made as easy as possible thanks to the excellent people that work at Kids First Pediatric Dentistry. I definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a pediatric dentist.

I just moved to the area and my child doesn't have a dentist yet. Unfortunately he chipped a tooth so I came across this dentist because they say on their website they offer emergency care. However when they called they said they only way for me to get an appointment would be to make a appointment for a cleaning and full exam. Unfortunately it hasn't quite been six months since his last exam so I wasn't sure if my insurance would cover the cleaning yet. When I described the problem again they told me if I didn't do the cleaning I couldn't get an appointment until February. Obviously with a chipped tooth you shouldn't wait that long to receive any care--and honestly their staff should be telling people that so that the child's tooth doesn't get more damaged. I'm totally fine if they just didn't have an opening (and in fact we ended up finding a really nice office). However, I just think they should remove the claim from their website that they do emergency dental care because based on my conversation with them they basically don't.

The hygienist said the dentist was in a procedure while we continued waiting after the cleanings of the other 2, far beyond a reasonable amount of time. Our three appointments were at the same time and I'm not sure how another procedure could have been added in between them. More concerning was the mishandling of medical records afterward. When requesting my children's records to transfer care, the office repeatedly failed to send them correctly and ultimately sent another family's children's records to me, while sending some of my children's records to a different parent. This serious HIPPA violation was only acknowledged after I pointed it out myself. The combination of excessive wait times, poor communication, and careless handling of sensitive patient information made us lose confidence in this practice entirely.

At her first adult dental appointment, they asked why she had never received any orthodontic care and said she needed to see an orthodontist ASAP. Severe overbite and significant overcrowding that had been getting worse over the course of several years. She is now almost 20 and multiple doctors have told us that she needs 1-2 years of braces and corrective jaw surgery to fix her mouth. I'm not sure why this was overlooked since we asked Dr. Neel several times if she would ever need braces from the time she was little and he always said no. When she was older, we asked about certain things that were abnormal with her teeth/bite and he told us multiple times that there was nothing wrong. I wish he had referred us to an orthodontist while she was under his care so we could have dealt with this earlier. We feel a bit confused on why this issue was never addressed and why this was able to go untreated for so long.

I have always had a fear of dentist because of past experiences which were very painful. I was very nervous about the visit because I had two broken teeth with only the roots left in my gums. Upon my arrival I was meant by a warm and welcoming staff. Dr. Kuzmack himself came out to the waiting area to greet me and to offer me a bottle of water. That definitely helped take the edge off. He explained everything to me before he began the procedure. I always brace myself for the initial needle stick and deep burning that follows from the Novocaine... However to my surprise Dr. Kuzmack pulls out a device that he uses in conjunction with the needles that massages your gums during injection which helped to alleviate any pain! I was totally taken back that I did not feel ANY pain the entire procedure. No pain from the needle or the root extraction.
