And I'm not writing about the Competition Pool - it's the Leisure Pool. The Leisure Pool is the selling point. It is the reason for the new price hike in membership. For members to finally enjoy the "new and improved" pool, sauna, etc after so many years of waiting. What a disgrace.

I was very surprised, as the staff usually reacts strongly to smaller issues. For example, when I first signed up, one of the female staff members, a very thin brunette, aggressively and disrespectfully yelled at my family and another woman with her daughter over a simple mistake--we brought a floaty, unaware it wasn't allowed. We aren't allowed to use noodles or dive with goggles unless we're paying for swimming lessons. How does that make sense? While some staff members are nice, others act like we're uninvited, unwelcome guests in their house, enforcing unnecessary and unreasonable rules in a rude and bossy manner. This is the first pool I've ever been to where noodles are banned, but apparently, swimming with dead birds is okay. I gave 2 stars because the pool is really beautiful and the water is often warm and pleasant. Too bad for everything else.

Registration is a bit of a process. You first have to create a profile through the Lorain County Metro Parks system, then return to the Splash Zone site to register for a specific program on a designated day and time. Once registered, the system shows your cost--mine initially showed $0. I arrived about 30 minutes early on the morning of my class, which turned out to be helpful because I had to re-register in person. After completing that, I was told there would normally be a $3 fee due to my SilverSneakers account. However, the woman at the front desk kindly let me attend for free that day, explaining that future visits would be $3. Since I'd never been there before, I had to navigate through several locker and pool areas. There are multiple pools separated by glass dividers with automatic doors--someone shared a helpful tip that the small black box above the door shows which side to stand on to trigger it. The instructor came in without much of an introduction, set up a small carry-on-size speaker, put on her headset, and began the class. The workout was aqua Tabata (a Japanese-style interval workout): 20 seconds of fast-paced movement followed by 10 seconds of rest. The class lasted 45 minutes. I stayed for about 30 minutes, choosing to leave early since shower space is limited and I like to be considerate of others. The workout itself was excellent, and being in the water felt really good. The showers, however, were not great--hair on the floor and a general "public park" feel, even at 10:30 a.m. I was glad I wore water shoes. On the plus side, the water temperature and the very hot shower afterward were appreciated. The instructor mentioned that this is her business and encouraged people to connect on Facebook (with a profile photo), and it's clear she's very talented. Overall, despite a few logistical and cleanliness issues, I'd go back again--and next time, I'd happily pay the $3 when I'm in town.

Then the lifeguard switched a bunch of times. She was able to go on the side all those times. And she was tall enough all those times also. And then there lifeguard who didn't let her and said she was too short. I let him know that she was a really strong swimmer and that she could touch the bottom of the pool. There was this one kid who was in line in front of her and he let her go was the same height as my daughter. And then the lifeguard Lucas said my daughter was too short. Even if she was the same as other girl that went in front of her. Her hair was what was making her taller. And he said the hair on her head counts. So I put my daughter's hair up in a bun and he said well that doesn't . She cannot go on the slide. That is what got on my nerves. We will not be going back to splash zone again if it has anything to do with that lifeguard.

Every time I come here, I am always happy to see lots of people utilizing the park. There's a beautiful pagoda, a new and extensive playground, and a great walking trails around the very clean lake. The Berea Public Library is also in this complex, which I will also be giving its own review of 5 stars! I guess Berea resident's tax dollars are being used more wisely than those of us on the east side, haha!

Had my daughter's 5th birthday party here. I never received the discount for providing my own cake, staff had the children line and get ready for the Huggy parade, and then 5 minutes before the "start time", the employee claimed no one was available to do the parade. The manager for the location offered me a refund for the inconveniences and lack of discount. I never received the refund, so I contacted the company via their website like it tells you to do. The customer service rep Khi proceeded to lower the original amount I never received and flat out ignored my requests for an explanation or to speak to a supervisor. I STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED A DIME. This company straight up stole from me by offering a discount for providing my own cake, I never received the discount. Then, completely disappointed my daughter by hyping the party up for an experience they knew they weren't able to provide, it wasn't like the employee got ill or had an emergency and had to leave, they knew they didnt have the staff. Horrible. I have not had ANYONE contact me to resolve this and I will not sit back idly and let this company lie and steal from customers. read more

The kids had a great time here. The prices aren't outrageous which was awesome also. Almost everything was up and running which has not been our experience with most other places like this. It's also clean with the employees staging on top of any mess that pops up. The employees are also friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the no outside food or drinks rule. Either enforce it or don't. About half of the occupied tables has a brought from home drink or snack out. If you aren't going to tell them they need to take them out, just let people bring them in openly. read more

I never leave reviews but after what I heard other parents saying today I felt like I needed to. Yes a child had an accident in the play area but it's a children's place and things happen. The staff exceeded my expectations on how they handled it. They had it cleaned up in no time. The manager in the black shirt came to us and apologized which wasn't even needed.
