Perhaps once a year or so, one of my leg muscles or somewhere in my knee joint would flare up during training and slow my running nearly to a halt. The experience was always incredibly demoralizing. And perhaps more demoralizing was the fact that repeated bouts of physical therapy didn't seem to prevent the issue from occurring in the future. It always felt like something was missing, so I searched around for an expert that could help me piece it together. I sat down with Jason for my initial evaluation, prepared for another month long routine of stretching and glute strengthening exercises. But even within the first half hour of meeting me, Jason was already subverting my expectations. He effortlessly identified a lack of hip mobility and tight quads -- the ultimate "etiology" of the knee pain as he called it. He sent me off with some hip mobilization exercises, and when I came back soon after he offered to dry needle my quads. The difference these two changes made were night-and-day. The nightmare of another month of PT had vanished in an instant, and I was back to running nearly pain-free. And what's more so is that the results have lasted. A few short weeks in Jason's care, and I've been back to the running grind nearly flawlessly for months on end now. Jason is truly different than other PTs I've worked with in the past. I went for the Thai Massage with Rawiwan. The massage room is inside the chiropractor's office, which is inside a building with other offices. It is quite sizable. the office has very good vibes, with lots of inspirational quotes, friendly pictures, and clean atmosphere. They also sell some raw honey that Dr. Paul apparently makes (is that the term? harvest?) himself. Love me some local honey! I got a jar and am glad I did. I'll be getting another jar soon. Anyway, on to the massage. The 1-hour massage lasted the full one hour (and then some). She uses hot stones, hot towels, and I'm not sure how she does it, but she doesn't reach out to get oil but somehow has it coming out as she's working on you with both hands! Like Spiderman or something. It was really cool. A really, very good massage. Talk to her and let her know if you need her to adjust strength and she gets on it right away. I'd be coming here regularly if I lived a little closer.

I am a veteran of PT rehab stints having had two hip replacements, two rotator cuff surgeries, and one hip labrum tear surgery over the past 25+ years. I believe I know a thing or two about effective PT therapy. Not to take anything away from Athletico, who treated all of my above issues, the Elevate PT team is a significant cut above the typical PT practice. What stands them apart is their deep attentiveness to proper form and function, plus utilizing a frequent change of protocol to both challenge me and keep me motivated. Shivani's goal is not to just get me back to some sort of "status quo", but to make lasting improvements that leaves me better off than before my arrival at her practice. She also taught me many things that I could incorporate on my own to better manage my lower back issues, and those have proven to be quite useful. She pointed out and fixed things wrong with my gait and posture that no one had ever pointed out to me before. Her knowledge and ability to present it in non medical terms is really terrific. All the while doing this with an incredibly friendly and fun demeanor. After all was said and done, I was so impressed with Elevate's practice that I sent my wife there who unfortunately fractured her femur (surgery, rods and screws...the whole works) shortly after I completed my stint. Only neck vs. shoulder with help in neck. I was in for shoulder. He looked at me like I was nuts when I asked for dry needling in it. Guess what finally fixed it? Yep, needling. Not my first rodeo. Real problem is problems aren't individualized and everyone acts like they're right cause they read it in a book in school. I was getting same treatment as someone 3 times my age, I was in my 30's at the time. I get protocol, but come on, treat people like you want them to heal. .

I went to Omer a little over a week before running the New York marathon this year. At that point I…read morewas having major knee pain when running just 3-4 miles. I had been seeing a different chiropractor who really wasn't making any significant impact on the pain and finally went to a doctor who recommended Omer. At this point I really didn't think I was going to finish the marathon- if I couldn't even run 3-4 without pain and could hardly finish 10 mile runs, there is no way I was going to finish 26 miles. I went to Omer, he explained the diagnosis thoroughly, put me to work on various hip and knee exercises, and worked on my IT band. I ran 10 miles the next day with zero knee pain. A week and a few sessions with Omer later, I finished the marathon in a time I was very happy with and most importantly, no knee pain! Needless to say, Omer is amazing at what he does. He is extremely knowledgable in physical medicine and he clearly knows how best to treat different impairments. Not only that he is great to talk to and is very good at taking your mind off any pain you might have. Plus the atmosphere of the facility is so warm and inviting and all the people who work there are extremely kind and helpful. (They were able to fit me in 4 times in a week with basically no notice-- so I could be ready for the marathon!) Probably one of the best experiences I've had with healthcare before! My shoulder surgeon from Midwest Ortho was so impressed on the advanced range of motion I achieved, he wanted to know where I went for my PT. Absolute professionalism and your goals in mind, they begin with review of your injury alongside your doctor's PT order and put a personalized plan in place and are explained with client/patient. As you move through your stages of exercises, the therapist explains what muscles you need to engage, how and it's importance to your recovery. After working closely with therapy team, in time you move into doing your exercises somewhat on your own. You may think the therapist isn't watching closely, but any wrong move, you'll here a voice correcting your movements/tips on how you need to improve from the team. There front desk is welcoming and helpful with insurance and appointments working closely with the therapist who ensures your progress keeps moving forward. Your recovery and best health is the teams main goal for you to reach before you graduate and exit their doors as you say your goodbyes. They also provide cupping and dry needle acupuncture. One of my favorite part is the soft tissue massage. Jessica is amazing with the soft tissue. I originally went due to a pulled muscle which eventually got worse and had a bulged disc. Long story short, I had a hard time walking and in constant pain and left with almost no pain. Some places may have asked to continue coming back because of good insurance coverage but Adam said you should be good to go and left on my last day with exercise equipment and printout of exercises that I can do from home. Liz started working half way through my visit and she is a great addition. One day I'm going to be able to do as many planks as her. Thanks Adam, Jessica and Liz.
