We went to Muse after a long roadtrip to Knoxville. It was a great place to let our kids explore,…read moreuse their imaginations, create, and get their energy out. They have a very visually appealing entrance for kids...bright colors, a free little library and a small playground with nice green spaces around. The inside has a variety of activities set up which seemed to be pretty standard for a children's museum and were ones we'd seen in other locations. My kids stayed entertained for over two hours and would have been happy to stay if we'd had the time. This is a great option for a rainy day activity. The only downside is we were hoping to grab lunch beforehand and there weren't a lot of options nearby that we were able to find. At $12 a ticket for adults and children aged 1 and up it's a reasonable price!

Thus, I didn't reduce stars due to the crowds alone. There was a summer camp and the largest field trip group that they had all summer (according to the workers) with every station so crowded with space and sharing-oblivious kiddos. We asked the workers if they post field trip info online so we can avoid those days and they said you must call ahead of time to see if anything is scheduled. CALL AHEAD, y'all. They also told me that after 12:30 is the least busy time of day. As a heads up military, first responders, and educators get a discounted ticket (for self, not the entire party). My UT prof husband paid half-price. The staff is very friendly and working hard to keep the areas stocked and clean. A moving target, but they did their best! ;-) There is a gift shop, an amazing hand-washing station independent of the bathrooms, STEM areas, outdoor water and bubble play, a playground, a garden, forts, science experiments, train tables, play food/nutrition area, a giant lite-bright, rocket ships, race tracks, and numerous wind tunnel/scarf tubes (totally the technical term. ha). So many areas for kids with sensory needs and everything is very interactive. We have a membership to Children's Museum of OR, and in comparison, this is much more hands-on learning than the historical feel of OR's. I felt that the Muse is a great fit for the younger kiddos (toddlers, babies, etc) with it being all one story and easy to navigate, huge crowds aside. Amazing museum. Just know to call ahead so you're not overwhelmed. We plan to go back again soon and pay extra $3 p/p for the planetarium.

As we walked up to the fluff pumper, with our capybara bears, the woman(?) snatched them. My friend and I talked amongst ourselves while she pumped the bears with the fluff. When the foot got lifted from the pedal so she could stitch the back of the bear up, one of us looked at the other and whispered a joke about "imagine if someone just stepped on the pedal and the fluff flew around the store." Notice how I mention, neither of us actually said we do it. It was COMPLETELY HYPOTHETICAL. Somehow, her ecolocation ears picked up on this silly remark and immeditally got beligerant and put an end to our convo and our silly mood. She said "Ohhhh so you think youre funny?" With a sarcastic and conniving voice. and we side eyed each other out of confusion because we didnt understand what was so wrong about a little joke that had no intention behind it. then she adds on to it when we dont respond and says " You also think you're five years old??" Implying that we, as 15 years olds, were too old to be shopping at Build a Bear. What happened to the loving environment that appeals to minors,--which we still were? I was utterly shocked, me and my friend sat there in silence, still not responding to that edgy comment. Ever since, I ( and my friend) have vowed never to return. I do not believe her reaction was needed and we very obviously were not going to do that thing, we joked about wondering what would the outcome be if someone were to do it. Anyways, the capybaras were cute and I have had other good experiences here, prior to the one mentioned, and I could not exclude that from this passionate review.

When got there the girls quickly found what they wanted but the voice recorder was broke. I was heart broken. Then one of the employees said we have the old system recorders what if we did that. GPS gave great directions and we arrived on time. If coming from NC on 40 west, please allow extra time for construction, about an hour. Upon arrival at Legency we were greeted by smiling facing at the service counter. We got checked in quickly, given the run down on the wait time. They do not have lockers, so its recommended you lock your belongings in your vehicle. They do take your keys for safe keeping as certain items are not allowed on the course. The gift shop has a ton of unique souvenirs. We purchased t-shirts, they have a large selection. They sell some snacking items and drinks. The restroom was clean. They have rockers on the porch and a fire pit area to hang out at until its time to rig up. Our instructors Matt and Daniel got us into our harnesses and explained how they work. We loaded onto the bus for a trip to the top. Along the way they explained the course and what to expect. Of the 7 lines, the first 2 lines are beginner lines. Each line gets faster and higher. They gave great instructions , and were very helpful. They put everyone in our group at ease. Also, they are quite funny. Don't tell them, we don't want it going to their heads. Waters were offered , so stay hydrated. It was overcast due to the morning rain, but the views were still majestic. Line 6 was my favorite. The course takes about 2 hours. We have ziplined before, but it did not compare to this. The views over the tree tops, approximately 540 feet were amazing. Everyone we encountered, from the service gals , the bus driver, the truck driver to the instructors were absolutely wonderful. We had a great time , See ya next year
