However, I began experiencing pain from that tooth and attempted to contact the office for assistance. Despite having medical clearance from my OB/GYN, confirming that it is safe for me to undergo routine dental care during pregnancy, the office refused to see me solely because I am pregnant. Additionally, when I requested a copy of my X-ray so I could seek treatment from another dentist, the office stated it would take a few days because they "have stuff to do", delaying my ability to receive timely care. The front office personnel said her name was Kelly although I'm not sure if she gave her real name. I still haven't received a copy of my X-ray to take to another dentist who was willing to see me. We were trying to minimize another X-ray since I just took one but the office is uncooperative. The front office staff were extremely unprofessional and rude during my interactions. They repeatedly hung up the phone on me and refused to provide a clear explanation for the refusal. I had to use another phone number for them to pick up my phone. I believe this behavior was unjustified, discriminatory, and unprofessional, and does not meet the standards expected of licensed dental professionals

It began with noticing that cleanings were becoming rushed and incomplete -- sometimes it felt like no real cleaning was done at all. Over time, that lack of thoroughness became the norm. The final straw came with a serious issue involving a financing plan for my son's treatment. Although I agreed to an 18-month, no-interest plan, the office enrolled me in a 24-month plan with 26% interest. It took me four stressful weeks and numerous calls and emails (many unanswered) to get it fixed. At one point, I was even told the account could only be canceled if I opened a new one, which felt coercive and unprofessional. As a Deaf patient, I rely on email communication, yet messages often went ignored. Two years later, I still haven't received the final statement or an explanation for the mysterious $125 credit that I was supposedly owed. Our new dentist also questioned the amount of work that was recommended here -- and several of my son's fillings had to be redone because they had fallen out, costing us $750 out of pocket. I'm sharing this so others know to review their paperwork carefully, confirm financing terms, and keep all communication in writing.

I was repeatedly told to Google "golden proportion" regarding my teeth, which felt unnecessary and uncomfortable in a medical setting. The dentist would not move forward in the conversation until I googled this. The discussion then shifted to a recommendation for 24+ crowns and a full "Hollywood smile," which felt unrelated to my concern. I was not given a clear explanation of what was medically necessary versus cosmetic. How did we go from needing 2 crowns in my previous appointment to needing 25+!?!? On my first visit, I was never told I had cavities. On my third visit, the front desk staff, while I was in the waiting room, asked if I wanted to schedule fillings for "multiple cavities," which I was hearing for the first time in front of other patients. I was also referred to an oral surgeon without explanation. (I assumed it was for the crown I needed) At that visit, the surgeon appeared confused by the referral, stated the impacted tooth I have does not need removal unless symptomatic, and suggested I find a new dentist. Overall, I left feeling confused, overwhelmed, and without a consistent treatment plan. I also left in tears, which I have never experienced regarding dental care. I would have appreciated clearer communication and a focused, medically 'necessary' plan. Not a full reconstruction of my teeth, when I've never had smile insecurities prior. A plan that would've put $15k+ in the dentists pocket. Unnecessary and cruel. Dr S. also suggested it was completely unnecessary after the dentist walked out. Btw, THESE ARE MY TEETH! From the paperwork all the way to the night guard at the end. They replaced both of my front teeth with crowns and used some new fangled high tech scanner computer to take 3-D scans of my teeth for the process. But it's not just this procedure that stands out. I mean, they came out better than I expected by far. But. I have been seeing Dr. Toyer and Dr. Toyer and their team for five years now. I can't remember a single doctors office ever that I've felt more at home. Everyone knows you by name. The pride Dr. Toyer takes in his work is evident from the start to the finish. And he's real hip too. Completely up to tomorrow on the newest tech to make your procedure a breeze. Oh and they do amazing with pediatrics. My toddlers love going to see them! My daughter had a major procedure done here today and Evie, Aritza and two other ladies (I don't recall their names) made it so amazingly smooth. Unfortunately, their growth seems to have far outpaced their ability to adequately accommodate their existing patients. Last fall, I had to reschedule a routine cleaning because I was the primary caregiver for my mother, who was battling cancer. I completely understood that rescheduling was my responsibility--but the next available cleaning appointment they could offer me was SIX MONTHS later. When life circumstances surrounding my mother's cancer forced me to reschedule again, I was once again told the next available appointment was another six months away. That means a routine dental cleaning was pushed out an entire year--not because I was unwilling to schedule one, but because this practice apparently does not have enough availability to accommodate an established patient of more than a decade when life happens. What makes this especially frustrating is that the practice continues to grow and accept patients despite existing patients having to wait six months for a cleaning appointment. If you're considering becoming a patient here, I would seriously reconsider. Unless you can book your cleanings six months in advance and guarantee that absolutely nothing will interfere with that appointment, you may find yourself waiting another six months if you need to reschedule. After more than 10 years as a patient--and six years of making a 90-minute round trip to remain one--I expected considerably better access and consideration for established patients. Unfortunately, loyalty does not seem to mean much when the practice has grown beyond its ability to accommodate the patients it already has.

Instead, I was subjected to over an hour of X-rays and sales pitches from a rotating cast of staff members, trying to push everything from Invisalign (because of a minor gap), to a deep cleaning, two crowns, a filling repair, and even a wisdom tooth extraction--all totaling nearly $7,000, of which $4,700 would be out-of-pocket. When I made it clear I was only there for a basic annual cleaning, they refused to perform it, saying the other (expensive) procedures needed to take priority. Let me be clear: this is completely unethical. Never in my life have I been denied a standard cleaning because I declined thousands of dollars in additional work I neither requested nor consented to. To make matters worse, they tried to pressure me into signing an "agreement to pay" form before even scheduling any appointment or obtaining my consent to treatment. The staff member downplayed it, saying it was "no big deal." I'm a contracts attorney--I knew better. The document was likely unenforceable, but their attempt to coerce a signature before care was even provided is utterly inappropriate and predatory. What is especially concerning is that several of my family members and friends are also patients at this office and have experienced similar issues with reaching the office, customer service, and appointment scheduling. This makes it seem as though these are not isolated incidents but rather ongoing problems that need to be addressed. I am sharing this because I genuinely value Dr. Uthman and the care he provides, and I would want him to be aware of what patients are experiencing when trying to contact the office and schedule appointments. The two cavities that Dr. S filled that one day probably didn't need to be done either. Would not trust or recommend this group at all.
