The good: I was so surprised to find a Ukrainian deli store here! We were eating nearby when we saw the sign for this spot and decided we had to check it out. The cashier was so kind and let my toddler pick out a free lollipop. The medovik (honey cake) here was supreme! It was perfectly moist and didn't have an old fridge smell (sometimes other medoviks I've had from deli shops taste like the air, fridge or deli meats they are next to). Their fresh cakes looked so scrumptious. I also got some baked kefir drink here. The store is very organized and clean. They had a lot of deli meat options. Don't go there if you don't want to get insulted by an old lady who works there ( I wouldn't call her "a lady"). She was vey rude. Very negative. Horrible service. It was not a pleasant experience. A favorite of mine for east European groceries, I can find my soups. Seasonings, and the deli will also make specialty cuts. A little taste of home to many I'm certain. Lots of goodies to shop without all those American poisons. Service is excellent and store is very orderly and clean. read more

Kiev Deli is a nice little store with great Eastern European items. The shelves are lined with all sorts of goodies; canned goods, sweets, on and on. For fresh items, they have a wide variety of meats and cheeses, one case from Poland and one case from other European and US locations. We bought some smoked kielbasa (haven't tried it yet), a wheat bread and some bologna (European style) but made here. The bologna and bread were pretty good. Service was quick and easy. read more

My mom and I bought some sausages, head cheese, cake, and candy and all are bland and tasteless. The sausages we gave to my dogs because they were not good. I wanted to buy some Marzipan, there was only 1 left so I went to grab the log and to my horror, it was already opened! The candy they have is stale and just tastes like someone left it out for weeks letting it dry out. Spent $100 here and with the horrible quality of things, never going back. I had the owner, Mark, make me a sandwich, any kind he wanted with whatever he wanted on top. He did a great job! The sandwich was 3 inches high and packed with all types of meats and cheese. Highly, highly recommend Kiev Deli to prepare your party platters for your next event. Your guests will be wowed. The meat and cheese selections are all imported, and as spoiled as we are locally with the availability of Boars Head, we truly haven't savored artisanship like Kiev Deli prepares. Olga will ask your prefernces, but trust her judgement as well. For our office Christmas party for 15, she suggested dry salami, ham, and cheese platters, each with a condiment/salad compliment. Talk about a hit! We have teammates from Poland and Hungary, and they, as well as us "locals" knew we experienced a culinary treat. To round out your spread, they offer pastries and desserts from European local bakeries (Italian, Greek, france). They also sell European breads from Bavarian Bakery in Sarasota, so that saves you another trip. Just tell them ahead of time what you want so they accomodate your specific needs. I'm Polish and I love Eastern European Foods. When I saw this little deli, I thought I should check it out. The store looked good, but it didn't have much of what I was looking for. I decided to try some of the cold cuts and the lady at the counter wanted me to try everything before she sliced it. I thanked her and told her that I just ate. I grabbed few more things and headed out. Everything was fine until the next morning. The ham was slimy and the sausage wasn't fresh at all! It was my first and last trip to that store! Ordered a sandwich. Gentleman behind the counter notified me it will just be a few minutes as he needs to ring up customers before me and he is the only one in the store, understandable. Begins to prepare ingredients for my sandwich, phone rings and he answers. He then proceeds to ring up a customer, after answering the phone, who came in after me which took more than 10 minutes. More people came in which he would've probably rang up before even beginning my sandwich. I decided to just leave. Finishing one task at a time and taking care of customers orders as they are placed is optimal and very courteous, not taking care of other customers task especially ones who came in after. Was extremely unhappy with service and l left hungry and disappointed considering the great reviews. It was my first time going here. Will not return again. Few days ago I bought caviar in the Kiev Deli shop and the Owner of the shop sold me the Bowfin caviar for the price of the sturgeon caviar for 75 dollars which is 3 times more, the usual price fo the Bowfin caviar is 25 dollars for 100 grams but NOT 75 dollars. Be aware of it, they are dishonest people selling cheap bowfin caviar in the same blue tin as the sturgeon caviar!!!! read more

Great selection of Eastern European foods...from candy to wine. Lots of different types of pickles, cheeses, deli meats and pastries. I never leave without a Baklava (from Tarpon Springs) and an assortment of irresistible food. Very friendly and helpful folks as well. It's not a huge store, but they have managed to cover the bases...all at reasonable prices. Next time you're in the area, take a look.
