Honed in on that..... and then she asked if we would like a homemade lemonade, of course, why not! Let me tell you, that was such a refreshing drink. Perfect for the smothering heat. Food came out and I was intrigued. A little different looking than I'm used to but knew it looked delicious. It was!! Mixed all that yumminess together and added a touch of salt on top and it melted in my mouth! No they did not pay me to write this, yes we paid for our food. Next is dessert! I can't remember the name of it but it kind of reminded me of tiramisu with chocolate syrup at the bottom, walnuts and grapes, light fluffy cake, and whipped cream with chocolate syrup over it. Upon walking in, you realize you have just discovered a hidden gem. The restaurant is nicely decorated and makes you feel like you actually are in Hungary. The waitress was very nice and answered my questions about the different dishes. It was difficult to make a decision because everything on the menu sounded like I wanted to try it. The food portions are large and the dishes are presented like in a gourmet restaurant. I tried the chicken paprikash and my husband had a pork steak. Everything was fabulous! You can tell the food is freshly prepared when you hear the schnitzel being pounded in the kitchen and ten minutes later, it is served at the table next to you. Super experience at this charming Hungarian restaurant in Bradenton. We have never tried Hungarian food, so this sparked our attention. Walked in and let them know it was our first time and Alexa took care of us all the way through. We ordered mushroom crepe that was very tasty. It was called Bakonyi Palacsinta. We shared our entree which was a potato crusted chicken with salad. This is called Karpati Borzacska. Both were amazing and tasty. The cherry on top was our dessert which is a chocolate rum sponge cake with walnut and raisin with chocolate syrup. Sounds rich right? It was not. It was a perfect balance and not too sweet believe it or not. It is called Somloi. The restaurant is charming and shows its Hungarian culture with additional market items on sale and it also shows its family background with the pictures by the bathroom. Lovely family owned restaurant! Great selection of Hungarian food as well as local flare. The service was very personable and friendly. All the dishes looked amazing. I tried the cucumber salad with the chicken paprikas. The chicken was tender and delicious with the creamy sauce on top of a bed of dumplings. The lemonade was fresh, sweet and definitely homemade. Small restaurant will a really great sounding menu. We were straight up going for chicken paprikash. We signed up for VIP on website for free appetizer. Our appetizer choice was potato pancakes (latte style) with sour cream. This was good start, nicely done brown but not dried & crunchy. The chicken paprikash was on spaetzle with nice sauce and dallop of sour cream. There was plenty of chicken, but a little more sauce would have helped. The service was excellent and very personal. We were happy with value and quality of meal. We will return to try more. The blended Eastern European food we grew up around was different. This is more traditional. read more

However, the smells are absolutely incredible. We opted for a schnitzel like dish as well as the CSÜLKÖS STRAPACSKA, which is reminiscent of a pasta dish with potato noodles, mixed in fried pork and lots of great cheese. So creamy, so hearty. We took another couple here to repay their generosity by sharing their home recently. They said they had talked about going here and we were so pleased as my wife I'd Hungarian and really wanted some paprikash. We were charmed by Nicolette as she guided us through the menu. We shared their potato pancakes, nicely seasoned and if mine came out like that I would not be disappointed. I had a delicious pork cordon bleu, and my wife had the most delicious chicken paprikash with homemade spaetzle. Our friends had the mushroom crepe and a chicken crepe, and a wonderful pork/potato /pea dish with a difficult name. The desserts sounded amazing but they sell out early. What an amazing find. Surprised there wasn't a line for this real Hungarian restaurant. Nikoletta, the owner, was our server for a Wednesday night dinner. She was a great host and so attentive, interesting and funny. She is an immigrant from Hungry and everything about the restaurant is the real deal. Three of the four is us ordered the goulash soup and four of us licked the bowls clean. It was a real tell tale for what was to come next. I had the cucumber salad with thin slices of cucumber in a water based seasoned dressing. Extremely refreshing and a great palate cleanser before the main courses. My better half had the Stuffed Cabbage. A good polish cook at home, she gave her entree a thumbs up and remarked "it was good." HaHa I had the Karpati Borzaaoska, a fried chicken crusted with potatoes, spices and vegetables. That too was great. Our son-in-law, a chef himself, had the Chicken Paprikas, dark chicken meat with a heavily flavored sauce with fresh homemade Hungarian noodles. He called it incredible. Our daughter-in-law ordered the Brassoi Apropecsenye, described by her as a pot roast and she raved about the flavor. Dessert was a decadent Hoegaarden. It was a monster slice of Hungarian chocolate cake with a hard topping caramel served with super fresh whipped cream. It was our so -in-law's birthday and Nikoletta played the traditional Happy Birthday over the house speaker system in his honor. We also had beers and wine imported from Hungry, along with shots of Hungarian brandy/fruit moon shine at 40-50% proof. The ambiance is old world rural eastern European. A small market with locally sourced vegetables and imported goodies for sale greeted us at the entrance. You gotta go! read more

So with not having reservations i on a busy Friday night, we had troubles getting into a couple other restaurants so started looking what else was in the area. My mom being Hungarian so me being half Hungarian we decided to venture out and try something new. There were a variety of dishes and with six of us, we tried a number of items from chicken paprikash to a fried chicken to cordon blue and stuffed peppers. All were decently good. Looking for a different type of cuisine... try Vernona Hungarian restaurant. They have a nice sized parking lot and take reservations. Restaurant opens at 5 for dinner and we arrived for an early dinner. Wonderful, family run business meant friendly, patient waiter who gave us suggestions and explained the wine and dinner menus. We started with our first ever Hungarian Pinot Noir which was light and easy to drink. Paired that with the mushroom and later chicken ragu crepes. Both were delicious... in a wonderful cream sauce with hints of paprika. Would definitely get them both again! As we arrived early, the stuffed cabbage was not quite ready, so not an option for our entrees. The chicken paprika and schnitzel were both amazing and served with their cucumber salad with complimented each dish. Huge portions of very flavorful food... each was spectacular. We also tried the tuna which was tasty over rice with salad. Overall, a local gem that has reasonably priced delicious meals with large portion size, great service in a nice atmosphere. Lovely service, and welcoming owner. My husband started with the goulash leves and said it was very good. I had the stuffed cabbage. So pleased to see it done in the traditional Hungarian style in light juice over a bed of sauerkraut. It was very tasty. I would have liked it a little warmer but didn't want to worry about asking them to heat it up as I was starving. ;). Husband had the stuffed bell peppers. Stuffing was very good. He felt it was a little too heavy on the tomato sauce but also acknowledged that his expectations are always that it will taste like his grandma and mother's. Both of us had the cucumber salad and it was delicious, with just the right amount of sweetness. The goulash was just like my Mom made. The chicken paprikas was well seasoned and the Hungarian spatzle was just like mine, velvety smooth. I had a very inventive stew made with pork. The meat was tender and the flavor inventive. My husband said he would get it next time. The atmosphere was relaxed. Last night, I took my dad out for his birthday dinner. There is a newer Hungarian restaurant in Bradenton, Vernona Gourmet - Authentic Hungarian Restaurant . This cuisine reminds of the food grandma made, so we had to check it out. We arrived about 6. They had a few tables, but weren't too busy. Our server greeted us immediately and sat us. She was great throughout our visit. We looked the menu over and decided on chicken paprikas, meatloaf, and stuffed peppers. While waiting for our meals, they shared a Hungarian cheese bread with us that was quite tasty. Our plates came out quickly and they looked perfect. The meatloaf was very well seasoned and served with mushroom gravy, runny egg, over some great mashed potatoes. It was absolute perfection. The chicken paprikas were very traditional; dark meat chicken in a sour cream paprika sauce over small dumplings, nokedli. It was different from grandma's, but very good. The stuffed peppers were good. We had zero complaints about our meal. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit. The food and service were top notch. This is a great spot if you enjoy Hungarian cuisine. I came in and I had a wiener snitzel. My husband had a Hunagrian Goulash and Csulkos Strapacska. We were extremely impressed by how attentive the staff was to our needs. It was a busy time and despite that the food was ready fast and the drinks were always refilled. I have never tried such a good quality Hungarian food ever since I lost my grandmother but this restaurant brought me back the memories.
