Very interesting place with a spacious rustic appearance, good bands, & decent food. We sat at the bar as we wanted to see the music. We had a few drinks (they give a GREAT pour of wine) & ordered food. We started with the stuffed jalapeños which were very tasty. We then both got the fried chicken - I got white meat & my husband got dark. I chose collard greens & a side salad for my sides. Everything was excellent - the chicken was so moist & came off the bone clean. You can tell this place knows what they are doing in terms of food. Collard greens were not salty like they normally are at other places. Would definitely come back again & perhaps try their BBQ next time! Decent BBQ... nothing to write home about but really no complaints. Perfect place for a new lunch. Nice outdoor seating (when it's not hot), tiki hut vibes and probably a great place for live music at night. The brisket was a bit dry on the cornbread smokestack. We saw this place on the way down the 75 and decided to give it a shot, and boy were we happy we did so. The food was great all around, the whole place has this atmosphere of relaxed tropical hang out, the wait staff were all very friendly and attentive to our needs, and the music was very nice too! First time at this restaurant. Very large venue, menu looks good, Sunday music. The usual flaw is the classic ignore Horse-Blip bartender! It is not hard to be a great bartender! Seems the younger the bartender; exponentially more Horse-Blip! 1- When you order food, bring utensils and napkins before the food arrives. 2- When you have water, check and refill. 3- Don't ignore your bar patrons, make eye contact and acknowledge their presence. 4- Don't have tunnel vision down the bar ally, ignoring your bar patrons. We've been to Stottlemyers many times. It's always a good time. Ambiance: laidback country meets tiki vibe. Picnic tables are uncomfortable and the bar is usually full on weekends. There are regular tables but not in the band area. Everything is open air with shade. The do have fans running and misters over the picknic table area. Food: best cornbread around. The BBQ is excellent. Do not order chicken breast anything. It's almost inedible. Stick with BBQ- yum! Drinks: cold buckets of beer. Terrible selection of tequila. Service: it can be hit or miss. We got the East Road Sampler with broccoli and what my dad described as "incredible mac and cheese." The meat was pretty decent. Not dry by any means, but not dripping and succulent. The biggest disappointment were the sides. Yes the mac and cheese was good (maybe not life changing) but the size was like a quarter cup's worth. And this was supposed to be a shared platter. We each barely got a bite in before it was gone. The atmosphere looks like it would be really cool! The locale is pretty expansive and it looks like any time they have live music it would be a party! Been coming here for years. Used to be one of the better BBQ places in town. Has definitely gone down hill to barely edible. Saw the other bad reviews but had to see for myself. The Baby back ribs were very fatty, meat was tough to get off the bone. The brisket was rubbery. The pulled pork was ok. The corn bread that they almost forgot to add that we paid extra for was ok. Don't have green beans anymore. The baked beans were just ok. You get a choice between "Light" or "Dark" smoked chicken. I chose light thinking that meant white meat. Got a dark meat 4 bites of a leg and thigh 1/4 - it's supposed to be 1/2 chicken. Do not recommend! Definitely living off their past years awards and are not even close to being good anymore. Sunday 5pm: Great vibes, good food, and excellent staff. They had live 80s 90s music while we ate. A dance floor for those that need to groove. It's outdoors but repectfully fly free. I would write the food as excellent if there was salt and pepper on the food that came out but thats personal preference. The food comes out with speed and hot and ready. We ordered mozzarella sticks, the sampler platter, and a chicken Philly. The coleslaw was wonderful just too sweet for me nothing salt and pepper couldn't fix. The chicken filly was tender and full of mushrooms and veg, and the bun was soft yet lightly toasted on the edges. The ribs were a "solid b+" the brisket 7/10. After a pitcher of Stella and food the price roughly was $80. But we left full and ready to explore sarasota. read more

My go to spot for BBQ on the weekends in Sarasota. On the weekends they have 3 separate live bands playing through the day and during the week they have live music at night too! Absolutely fantastic place to sit down have a drink, order some tasty food and spend an afternoon out. The service is great too. I ordered an iced tea and told her I was thirsty and she brought over a pitcher for the table. We ordered the half smoked chicken, brisket sandwich, dinner and fried chicken sandwich. Today we had lunch at Stottlemyer's I've been wanting to eat here for sometime now. Got there at 11am and had a choice of any seat patio it is for myself and 4-legged friend. Marjorie was very nice she even brought a real water bowl vs a plastic clam shell. Woot woot! Had a PBR, Pulled Pork Sandwich with Onion Rings and the Pork Rinds. I wished I had gone with another side not a fan of the onion ring breading (that's just me) don't worry I still ate them all. The pulled pork was great there were some over dry pieces I prefer the meat to be super juicy. NOTE try to have the sauce room temp pouring cold bbq sauce onto a hot sandwich doesn't work. "Average" doesn't even begin to describe Stottlemyer's. The only positive is that it's a cool venue. Other than that, I can't recommend it. Calling this BBQ is borderline disgraceful. It feels like the food is a complete afterthought. I saw the ribs and decided to skip them, opting instead for the safe bet: a pulled pork sandwich. I mean seriously, how hard is that to get right? Apparently, harder than I thought. The lack of pulled pork was immediately apparent when I had to search for it in the sandwich. I tried picking it up, but that wasn't happening, it was drenched in so-called BBQ sauce and topped with coleslaw that looked straight out of Walmart. The bottom bun completely disintegrated. Which is a shame, because the bun was actually the best part of the plate. Shout out to whatever vendor they grabbed it from at the local big-box store. Most of the sandwich was fat and tasted like a blast of liquid smoke. I could go on and on. Avoid if you can. If your friends insist on going, plan to eat before or after--and just grab a drink. read more

This was the second time(3 stars) that we came for dinner based on the great first time( 4 star )experience. This time around service was spot on thanks to Lexi. Dinner however was sort of a downer. First of all the cornbread was excellent, hot and sweet just like it should be but dinners were so-so. We had the half baby back ribs and the east road sampler both dinner were lukewarm. Ribs were a little tough not like the first time where they were falling off the bone tender. Brisket was good and the smoked chicken was moist and tasty. Side were pretty good,potato salad/french fries and a side salad. We will try again since we felt it wasn't a wash out. Let's hope that the third time is a charm(5stars). read more

Worth a visit just for the atmosphere. Service is slow, as it is many places now. I'm sure they have a hard time finding employees. The corn bread is good, the onion rings are pretty good and the rice and beans have some nice tomato flavor. The baby back ribs were moist and they have a LOT of meat on them. They are definitely super chewy style, not fall off the bone style. The brisket is ok but I would not get it again. The smoked chicken is better but I'll try the fried chicken next time. It's weird they don't have extra sauce at the table, make sure you ask for more. Or don't, because it's not my favorite. It needs some zing or pizzazz, either one would help. I also think the meats needs some salt. I'm sure my left overs will be great with some sweet baby rays on top. Worth a second visit to find a dish I love. read more

No service After a stop at the celery fields, we tried to come up with someplace to eat, and finally came up with Stottlemyer's. Barbeque sure sounded like a good idea to me. My wife knew when the front parking spots were all occupied, we just needed to circle around to the back and there were many more spots. There was a band playing and people dancing, having a good time. We were shown to an openair table and given large menus where we spent time figuring out what we wanted to eat. Once ready to order we sat for several more minutes listening to the band and watching the dancers via TV screens. All this time no one stopped by to say hi and take drink orders. I eventually started checking the time and when another 10 minutes passed and we got up and left. I had an idea who our server could have been when she briefly appeared to talk to another table that had arrived after we did, but she ignored us and disappeared. Normally I would say no food, no stars, but I will be generous and consider there was a mix up of table assignments and no one noticed, or cared, that we were not being served.
