I am a healthcare worker on the island of Maui for contract work during COVID. I bought a cheap Maui cruiser while I am here on the island. Took it in to Kihei 76 for a safety inspection and oil change. Kihei 76 charged me $24 for the safety inspection and an additional $80 for the oil change in my 2003 Chevy cavalier. (When I scheduled my appt, I asked for a basic oil change). I picked the car up today at 930am. I was surprised by this bill, so I asked the gentleman who worked on my vehicle (short, wavy gray hair) why the oil change was $80. I asked why he didn't ask me to before putting the synthetic in it. Very rudely he said: "why didn't YOU ask" and walked out of the building. Whoa!!! Do not go here, they overcharge and are not kind. I go here for oil changes and basic maintenance. The guys are super nice and they'll even often take special requests without hesitation (IE please use this kind of oil, don't use air tools on this fragile part). Today they even tightened down a suspension part for me for free that was coming loose. Since you can typically get an appointment within a couple days of calling them and they're walking distance from the beach / cafes, I highly recommend. read more

Just had oil change here today, then went across street to Foodland and noticed oil trails behind vehicle. Huge puddle of oil under carriage. Contacted 76 shop and they arrived to say it "wasn't oil". Dipstick dry. Manager Glen had to be contacted and when arrived and told about issue, he yelled that "he would not tow vehicle"and that he "didn't give a fuck about the vehicle" and that "it wasn't his" then admitted to the error of crew not placing oil filter correctly and would not refund. On top of that tried to charge for replacement oil! Will take business elsewhere. BEWARE! read more

STAY AWAY!!!! I wish someone would have warned me. I should of took the hint the couple of times I called asking price quotes for work on how rude and sarcastic Pete, "Peter" the manager was. But against my intuition I still went there. Do not get work done on your car here. I told the manager Pete I would write this review because I could not believe in his absolute unprofessionalism. They left 3 parts out of my car! See pictures! After I left, thinking my work was done completely and I paid for it, I came back home and opened my trunk and my parts were just laying in there. They didn't even tell me!! I drove back to the 76 and confronted Pete, saying to him why were these left out and why were they not installed?? He said, he didn't know and to let him ask his guys, he then came back out and said they didn't know where they went and they could put it back up on the rack but would re-charge me the $150 labor! I couldn't believe it!!! I told him I would tell everyone about this and make sure people know not to come here and spend their money, he then said he didn't care cause they are so busy anyways! I can't believe this place is in business still with this type of managment. You can't rob people of their money by doing half done work and tell them they have to pay you more to fix their mistake! I do have to say, I wish they would hire a new manager because this is a place I was wanting to come to since it's so close to my home but I will drive the distance to go anywhere else but there for future work. I never write poor reviews but this was literally the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED! I can't believe how awful my mom and I were treated when we stopped in! My mom and I got our trucks oil changed about 4000 miles ago, we had the sticker and everything, but we are trying to cut costs as best we can with the financial crisis coronavirus has brought on many of us, and decided to change the oil ourselves for the first time. We did a good job all things considering. But we couldn't find the dipstick, so we thought maybe it was missing and thought we'd ask the "mechanics" if we had one or if maybe they forgot to leave one in. This rude, condescending, "Service Writer" Jason, shaved head asian-white local mix, comes to the truck, tells us to pop open the hood and both aggressively and cockily states that the dipstick was on the opposite side. And that was awesome! But Jason not only gives us the worst attitude i've ever witnessed in a customer service setting, but tells us literally to "fuck off". My mom and I were flabbergasted! He then decides to try and deny he swore at us, then, because were arguing with him inside the gas station, he finally admits it and tries to defend his attitude and behavior, then swears at us again! Me and him both exchange "Fuck yous!" as he's bashing my mom. My mom decides to ask to speak to his manager. He refuses to tell us his managers name and just tells us to either wait there until 7:30PM or to call the gas station tomorrow. The poor aunty running the register just sat there ringing up other customers while this is all going down btw. We leave with utter rage towards how terribly we were treated. Has this man never worked a day in his life? Has he ever had a customer? What kind of business are they running at 76? & who hired this clown? I understand the reviews are extremely mixed for this shop. However I have to offer my recent experience with Peter and the rest of the guys, and testify to their awesome customer service. Perhaps the negative reviews have sparked a change in the way things are done at the Kihei 76. I came in with an undiagnosed problem somewhere in the battery-starter-alternator region. The first time I was quoted $260 for a starter, but after the vehicle started easily numerous times, they hesitated to replace it, gave the vehicle back to me and didn't charge me for their time. The second time I came back after the engine had a few false starts the next morning. Peter sent a guy out to perform the battery/starter/alternator tests right where I was parked at the gas pump. Again everything checked out. Again they didnt charge me. I came in a third time, and this time a senior mechanic came out to clean my battery terminals, apply some spray to seal it against moisture, inspect the engine and start it numerous times. Since the vehicle was still running, and the problem was intermittent, the senior mechanic agreed with Peter that the likelihood was that the starter needed to be replaced. I went ahead and changed it out....Problem solved. I found the Customer Service to be excellent and on numerous occasions I just showed up and was met with friendliness and willingness to help, even sending me away twice after spending time on my vehicle without charging me anything. I am pleased with my eperience and would recommend giving them a chance to earn your business. read more

My wife was on her way to work when our low tire pressure light came on. We searched for nearby places to get it checked out. Unfortunately, Goodyear came up first and she was treated to some awful customer service and zero help. We then found Kihei 76. Rather than make her feel like a burden, Glenn the service manager gave her options and got her back on the road in 5 minutes! Thanks so much and kudos on your outstanding care for the customer! I have spent close to $3,000 in repairs for two vehicles in the last two years. Probably even more. My Chrysler 200 2013 was the first car which after taking it to 76 and then charging a diagnostic fee of $150 every time they couldn't find the problem with my engine timing and RPM mishaps. After that I was forced to trade it in and down size to a Honda Fit. Next is my older but still running 1992 work truck. I knew it had problems but to charge my double and say it wasn't covered by a warranty through 76 and then charge me the whole price again is a shame on them. On top of that they get all there parts from Napa and O'rielly. What a rip off. All I can tell you that after prayer and spendOmg too much money this will be the last time I ever recommend or will take it to these, shame of mechanics they employee. I'm all for local business but when your localness takes away you integrity as a person,you should know better. Also 76 gas is over priced. Today I was racially profiled at the 76 gas station on South Kihei road. A few hours ago I went to this 76 location to fuel up and the cashier, whose name I believe was Lehua, aggressively informed me that the 10 dollar bill that I used to pay for my gas was fake. I told her to explain to me how she knew it was fake and she proceeded to tell me that it just "looked funny" and even told me "you got that funny money bruh" . I asked her if she had a test to prove my bill was fake and she explained that she did not. She went on to say that "normally we call the cops in a situation like this" with absolutely no proof that my bill was counterfeit. Mind you I am a black man in a very small community of African American citizens on this island during a time of increased racial tension. The threat alone of having the police called over a 10 dollar bill is absolutely mind blowing to me. She went on to tell me that she wanted my name and number so that her manger could test the bill for authenticity and she could call me to come pick up my bill if it turned out to be authentic. I of course gave her a fake name and number because I was nervous she was going to call the police on me. Fortunately, right as I was about to leave, her manager, who was a nice white man, showed up and we explained the situation. The manager confirmed that the bill "doesn't look funny to him" and he took the bill to the back to authenticate it. He quickly returned and said, "there is nothing wrong with this bill" and handed me my ten dollars. Thank God the manager showed up, I should have taken his name too, his timely arrival may have saved my life. What if Lehua did call the police on me over an alleged counterfeit bill just like someone did to George Floyd before he was brutally murdered by police. Things need to change, this gas station will never receive another cent of my money. They should also consider improving their system of authenticating bills more efficiently before falsely accusing, mocking, and threatening police action against their customers. read more

I took my car there to repair and when I went to pick it up to pay, the old man at the register treated me like I was an animal. He had horrible attitude, but because he is an old man, I was being respectful and thinking maybe he is just grouchy. Fine. Its the day after Christmas let's be patient. So I continued smiling with my credit card in hand, as he was yelling at me "what do you what??" I said I just wanted to pay and he continued with horrible manners "pay what??? could be gas, could be a car!!! " whoa. I just said I want to pay for my car, you dont need to speak to me like that. I was being polite and smiling at you, if you dont want to smile back, that is fine, but talking like that is uncalled for." But he continued being extremely rude, and at this point I was getting very upset and all I said was "NObody ever talked to me like this!" and he says "Maybe it is about time someone did!" and when I was leaving I said I was going to write a review and he yells "Please do, and get the hell out of here!" wow. Timely service but not sure why they use a synthetic oil "blend" when all I wanted was normal stuff. O and ask for an estimate. They do want to make you happy though except for that one guy - I don't remember his name - I got my tires rotated and noticed an issue. This shop is not worth your time. We called to make an appointment to replace a pulley on my car. We were quoted 100.00. Took the car in on Monday at 8am and was called at 9am that it was done. We went to pick it up and they charged us for almost 2 hours worth of work at 99.00 an hour. We had our own part and was charged more because of it as well as charged more an hour because it was a Mercedes. Stay clear of this garage. read more

I had my car serviced initially for a starter motor which turned out to be the flywheel. This was determined on my third visit (red flag). During the flywheel repair, my car was up on the racks and the shock stuck open. They repaired it. When I drove my car, I heard a noise from the new shock. Newly installed parts make noises, initially, but it continued. I took it back, and found out the strut was loose, they tightened it (no charge). The noise returned. I took it back and had a discussion with the general manager and a very helpful & patient mechanic. The manager did not care that I was a liability to other motorists on the highways. He said if they had to repair it a fifth or sixth time they would stand by their work. That's great but I don't have time to keep bringing my car back for service & miss work. I decided to take my car to the dealership. I did not want to keep returning to this garage for a loose strut. As you can guess, the strut was still loose. Plus, some clips on the tie rod were missing. I am glad I trusted my intuition & went elsewhere. read more
