My tire blew out and I had to have my car towed. I called Goodyear to ask if I could have it dropped there and have my tire replaced. I hesitated to use them, because I have had several bad experiences, but they were the only place I could think of under pressure. I had a great experience. They were kind, helpful, and fast. I had been looking for a repair shop in Kihei where I could get both a tire replacement and a wheel alignment done at the same time, since my usual tire shop does not have the equipment for alignment services. After getting a flat tire over the weekend (on Sunday), I assumed Monday appointments would already be fully booked. However, I was able to easily schedule an appointment for Tuesday online, which was very convenient. The shop opens at 8:00 AM, but since I had to be at work, I arrived a bit earlier. They kindly accommodated me and accepted my car key before opening hours. I was assisted by the manager, Elsie, who was extremely kind and professional throughout the entire process. During the service, they noticed that my brake pads were worn down. She also remembered a casual comment I had made earlier about my daughter commuting through mountainous roads, and when I picked up the car, she immediately informed me that the condition could be dangerous. I truly felt that she and the team prioritize customer safety above all else, which reflects a high level of professionalism. I've lived on Maui for 44 years and I don't normally take the time to write complimentary letters, but I felt compelled to write this one. I helped my mother-in-law with her car that has been sitting for a long time. Her husband recently passed away, and it had two flat tires. I normally use Costco or Walmart for tires because years ago I had such poor service at Goodyear in Kihei. I needed to get this done for my mother-in-law A.S.A.P. so I went to Goodyear. I quit using them about 5 years ago because they just didn't care about service. I was pleasantly surprised to meet Elsie Leilani Jim the new store manager (3 years) that helped me get my tires taken care of quickly and professionally. My mechanic told me to stay away from them a few months ago for an alignment, so I went elsewhere. I told him to start sending people there again. I had the bad luck of having tires go out on both my vehicles the same day; one blow-out, one a flat. Brought one car in on a donut first thing in the morning. Elsie was super accommodating and, after checking with the mechanic, were able to get me in for new tires. I pulled the tire off other vehicle later that day and brought it in. Having arrived 30 minutes before closing, I fully expected to have to leave it overnight. She again coordinated and I had a new tire a few minutes later. Although I had bad luck with my tires, I had great luck with Goodyear Kihei! While getting you in on short notice can't be expected, know that they will do what they can to take care of you. Dropped off my tire first thing in the morning to be repaired and they got it done by 11:30. I got a brand new tire made in the USA. They transferred out my spare put it away and put the new tire on with them a half hour of me leaving my home, driving there and getting it done and coming home, I am so impressed. So you were going to keep my car for 8 hours and now you're saying a 2 hr window? No way- I had to leave the island the next day. I recently stopped at Goodyear to inquire about getting a tire plugged. As I pulled into the parking lot, it was apparent that it was very slow time at the store. There were no cars in the bays. There were no cars waiting to be taken into a bay, and there was only one person in the office. There were three people working behind the counter. I stood for a moment and waited, while one of the employees helped the other customer, who apparently was having an issue with having been overcharged, and not given his discount. As that story unfolded, a female employee who appeared to be a manager, stepped in and said she would help with fixing his discount and told the other employee to come and wait on me. I explained to her what I wanted done, simply to have the tire looked at to see if it could be plugged and she said,"oh yes, we can get you in right now". I was elated. Then the manager spoke up and said," you can't give her an appointment right now she doesn't have an appointment . I have appointments at 1 o'clock this afternoon so shell have to come back." I looked at my watch and noted that it was already 1:30 in the afternoon. So I said,"it's already 1:30. How long do we need to wait to see if your 1 o'clock appointments show up? " At this point, the manager basically dismissed me told me they could not take care of me at this time, and that I could call later to see if they could fit me in. I was treated very rudely and disrespectfully by the person who I believe was if not the manager in charge at the time I visited Goodyear. I totally understand if they really could not fit me in at that time, and I needed to come back or make an appointment. However, to be treated so rudely and so disrespectfully completely turned me off from ever returning to Goodyear tires in Kihei again. read more
