I tend to dislike a good portion of the iced matchas I drink because they often taste like milk. This wasn't too strong, but was still a pretty well balanced drink. I asked for a baklava, which unfortunately they had sold out of as of 3:45pm, when suddenly a voice in the back yelled out to try their plain or chocolate croissants as they make them in house daily. Consider me convinced. The result was a lovely warmed plain croissant. Crispy, flakey, soft, and most importantly WARMED. Nothing I love more than a shop that warms their pastries without you asking! I will definitely be back to try their coffee and gözleme.

It had a bold, rich profile but was incredibly smooth--easily one of the more memorable cups I've had in Brooklyn. The space itself is bright and welcoming, and the staff were warm and attentive. You can tell the owners (Evan and his wife) really care about what they're doing. If you're into thoughtfully crafted coffee, Montemug should definitely be on your list. I'll be back soon.
