I ordered the Ferrero Rocher espresso latte, but it tasted nothing like chocolate or hazelnut--just straight, syrupy milk. I couldn't taste the espresso at all, which was disappointing and felt like a waste of money. My sisters are regulars here and noted that their matcha lattes were way off and not up to their usual standard either. They didn't recognize the baristas working, so it may have just been an off day with an untrained crew. That said, consistency is important. The staff working this past Sunday weren't the friendliest; I felt more like a nuisance than a welcome customer. I ordered a large, iced Double Matcha from here with almond milk, an extra shot of matcha, 0% sweetness and a pump of vanilla syrup. This drink was great and definitely gave me the caffeine I needed without the jitters to complete my workday! However, I did have to add two packets of Stevia because the extra Matcha made the drink quite bitter. While it is extra to add flavored syrup, and substitute for a non-dairy, no alternative, I appreciate it the level of customization that was available for the drinks here. on a personal mission to find the best coffee in nyc & this was the first place i tried. parking was a maze, lowkey. i eventually found something on a back street that was up the block and around the corner. i circled for probably 15 minutes or so. i tried the apple butter latte and the strawberry matcha latte. i ordered both of the drinks with oat milk, which im sure was extra but its worth it. the apple butter latte was great! not at all what i expected but happy i tried it. the strawberry matcha was a safe choice but i also enjoyed that. the strawberry tasted very fresh. i'd def recommend this place. read more

On my first visit, I ordered the iced matcha latte with banana cream. It had actual banana pulp(?), which I wasn't expecting. I asked for 50% sugar, but it was still a bit too sweet for my taste. The second time, I tried the iced strawberry matcha latte. It was fine, but nothing memorable. Drinks run around $8, which feels slightly overpriced for what you get. My wife got this with almond milk which I'm not a big fan of, but it's so packed with matcha flavor. My least favorite of the 3 I tried. - The strawberry matcha was very good, with plenty of puree. Since the puree is sweet, you could get this potentially with 50% sweetness but I'd try it 100% next time. - Dirty hojicha latte: I don't like coffee and I don't like hojicha lattes but somehow this might be favorite. It has a deep hojicha flavor which I think mixes badly in most latte, but somehow this works. This is my first dirty hojicha latte, so perhaps that's what makes it work? I've been to Sieve twice. The Strawberry Matcha was fine, the matcha flavor is quite strong at first, but after mixing it well, the drink becomes much more balanced. This spot just opened this Monday and I was craving matcha, so I thought I'd check it out as a Friday treat to myself! The space is very utilitarian and clean with white decor. They had a list of matchas and coffee and a small pastry case of mochi donuts. I was curious about the double matcha for $7.25 but ended up going with the regular iced uji matcha latte for $6.50 for the 16 oz. size. I found the 100% sugar level a perfect amount of sweetness for me and it does have a good matcha flavor. I watched them make the matcha, so you know this place is legit! And for sure I'll be making for frequent visit. The matchas are really good but had a horrible experience with Rodolfo. He was so rude, no hospitality and just really bad vibes. The hospitality is the main thing that makes you come back. I've worked in restaurants and I've worked as a barista. It's really not that hard to smile and be nice. He looked like he wanted me to explode. I didn't do anything wrong and was nice to everyone working there. He literally has an evil aura, never coming here again until he no longer works here. I love that they use matcha from Uji. It has a natural sweetness, no bitterness, and gentle umami. The aesthetic of the place is great and super chill. Will definitely purchase their retail matcha on my next visit. Quick note: my partner got a hot dirty hojicha latte that was not very drinkable. The hojicha powder wasn't hydrated enough and the milk was too hot and foamy. I would recommend trying to do latte art to throughly incorporate the milk with the base!!! read more
