On the night I went it, the service was very discombobulated. I ordered a vodka soda and the waiter had no idea what to do. I actually had to go behind the bar and show him how to make the drink! The sushi itself was unimpressive, I've had tastier. The menu is a bit small as well, stocking to just sashimi, maki, nagiri and rolls. So my party doesn't eat raw but the owner was able to accommodate us by torching the salmon for the sushi rolls that came with the C8 sushi platter. The owner said he's never done it before so we appreciate this gesture. We had a lot of time to kill before heading back to Toronto so we were there for a good 2.5-3 hours and the waitress and owner did not make us feel uncomfortable or rushed to leave. As a sushi fan, I had to try KiKaKu. Missed happy hour :( but had a great time here. The sushi (fish) was really good, different from what I have had in the US but a good different. The butterfish sashimi was delicious. I ordered 3 hand rolls also very delicious and of course cold saki (It was hot outside). We were the only ones there for a while. Around 6 pm, more people came and the place got busy. They have in door and outdoor seating. Very limited seating though. I would recommend arriving early before the place fills up. read more

This was the week right after spring break - I can't imagine how he could have managed the traffice during the break. The fish was fresh - no complaints about that. But that's it. I'm surprised the reviews here are so poor because my experience was absolutely wonderful. I came here this past weekend with 3 of my friends and we ordered the $60 sushi roll platter (I believe it was number 106 on the menu). It included Spicy Salmon roll, Green Dragon roll, California roll, Sun Flower roll and one other roll which might have been Shrimp Tempura roll. Once the platter arrived at our table it only took us 8 minutes to devour, it was so good! Every roll was fresh and full of flavour. After they cleared our platter, one of the chef's came to our table with unagi sushi and prepared it at our table by torch searing the eel, then adding grinded sesame seeds, two sauces and tempura bits. We were the only table we saw get this treatment so we felt very special. Watching him prepare it and then eating the sushi added to the experience and these too were very good and on the house. I agree it is on the pricier side, but if you want sushi in Blue Mountains then this is where you have to go. In my opinion though, it was definitely worth the money and I would go back. read more

I came here with my family to have dinner. We ordered a variety of dishes like udon, chicken teriyaki dinner, sushi and sashimi. The food didn't taste that good. The sashimi was not fresh and it was warm. Some of the sashimi were really fishy. I ate less than half of my sushi dish. The rice was hard as well. This was by far the worse Japanese meal I've ever had. In terms of service, there were only 2 tables including ours at their tiny restaurant. The service was very slow. Very disappointed and rather upset because it was the first meal on arriving at Blue Mountains and it was awful. Ordered the following: stir-fried udon, green dragon roll, unagi don. Stir-fried udon was pasty and overly syrupy. Green dragon roll was dry and the avocado felt like it had been pre-sliced and laid aside for awhile before being slapped over the roll. Unagi don was passable but the rice itself was drowned in too much sauce which made the bowl overly sweet. I could not finish the rice. Well, we decided to try this place after reading so many reviews since we were craving for sushi that night. We went on a Thursday lunch so there was no people there. The service was okay but it did take some time to get our sashimi sampler and the 2 rolls we ordered (black dragon and blue mountain roll). The sashimi was not top-notch fresh for sure but it was okay to me. The rolls had generous portions that lunch and the taste wasn't bad at all (a little bit bland for some of the roll pieces but majority was okay). So I think a 3-star rating would be the most objective impression of this place: okay sushi but not that good, but it is the only sushi place in the village. Also I think the service would definitely get much slower during nights and weekends because I can see the place is likely to be understaffed during busy times. read more

Terrible service and mediocre sushi. We sat here over an hour and a half with two young kids waiting for food while the servers hid and ignored us. Eventually they admitted they forgot about us. Fifteen minutes later edamame came out. Two hours before sushi arrived. We asked for water. It never came. Dirty dishes from miso soup and edamame were never cleared. All they offered was a free edamame. The service was so bad the people at the next table had to ask whether you had to go up to the counter to order. Walked into the sushi bar wanting a small bite with my bf. We walked in about around 6pm on a Saturday and there were no one inside, we got seated quickly. We decided to do the 24 pieces with two sides of miso soup. I took the first piece of California roll and the rice taste quite dry, I tried the other sushi on the plate and it all tasted mediocre sushi that is served at all you can eat sushi. As soon as the miso soup came out I knew it was going to be bad from there. The miso soup was water down to the max and tasted nothing like a miso soup. Then when the sushi came out it was not fresh at all and tasted like it was old and had been sitting out not to mention WARM! I should of took pictures to show how small these sushi rolls were because they were not worth the price at all.I came here with my boyfriend and we were in shock how bad it was. Stopped by here for an early dinner mid week. 5 of us total. Service was great, beer prices reasonably and food well made and delicious! Atmosphere is more like a fast food restaurant not somewhere I would go for a romantic night out! Lots of variety on the menu with several local options! My family and I are having a kids honeymoon in Blue Mountain this week. We are staying at the Blue Mountain Inn and we wanted sushi for dinner. We noticed outside that they were having specials. Since it isn't all you can eat and we have 3 kids, it would be a good deal. It was for 4 people. 4 rolls, nigiri, and soup for everyone. We ordered seaweed salad, shrimp tempura, sashimi dinner for us and two speciality rolls. The best part was my husband and I got collingwood beers for $6! Sapporo was $12! The service was great and we couldn't believe that he didn't write anything down! The seaweed salad was good and our daughter loved the shrimp tempura. Our sashimi dinner was delicious! The butter dish was outstanding! The only problem was the sashimi was cut inconsistently and my husband was mad I got thicker salmon pieces. Also the soy sauce bowls are super tiny and it was hard not to spill it everywhere!! The rolls were perfect for the kids and we had a few ourselves. The spicy salmon roll had the perfect amount of heat. The solar salmon roll was smokey and creamy, very tasty. My husband loved the Blue Mountain roll. It was not spicy, but flavorful. I know it is located in a resort and price should be expensive but for this kind of price, I would expect better food quality. There isn't much you can choose from on the menu. There were two people who walked in and looked at the menu and walked out. It just has nothing special that attract eaters and charged people a crazy price for T&T supermarket quality sushi. i can tell you T&T has better sushi than kikaku does too. 2nd, need to PAY for the tea!!! We asked for 2 tea and they gave us a tea pot and charge us $2.50 a pot. Its okie to charge people for tea but please give a higher quality of green tea. Some places charge customer per glass but they use high quality green tea bag. 3rd, waiting time is SUPER LONG!!! We waited around 45 min to an hour for just a bowl of veg udon and 24 pcs sushi. They have friendly staffs but the wait time was just way too long. I can make sushi faster them them even thought I don't know how to roll them. 4th, BAD QUALITY of food!!! We ordered a veg udon soup which I think it was worth more like $5 instead of $16. Let me tell you what was in the bowl. There were some shredded veg and udon and they charged us $16. It tasted horrible. It was too salty, felt like drinking/eating lots of MSG, and udon wasn't soft. We also ordered 24pcs sushi &rolls. The raw fish were fresh but NOT AS FRESH as previous reviewer said. They were also very very very thin slices. Each piece was like 1/3 of the thickness compared to other sushi places. The rice for the sushi is hard. It is like they weren't cooked properly. Also on top of the not cooked properly rice, the skill of the sushi chef wasn't good because he squeezed the rice too hard for half of the sushi. There were 2 deep fried shrimp in the sushi roll, but i think those two shrimps are leftover from previous day because they were dry (VERY DRY) or just the person who deep fried the shrimps left them there for too long and over cooked them. I got to this sushi place at around 3 pm today with a friend and ordered this sushi plate with 36 pieces of sushi. It took maybe about 45 minutes to finally get the food and the place wasn't crowded at all! The salmon and the rolls were okay, however the sushi rice was weird tasting and kind of lukewarm. Even supermarket sushi tastes so much better and is way cheaper. The bill came down to $66.67 before tipping. You can get the same amount of sushi at Foody Mart in Toronto for less than $15. What a ripoff. There are better restaurants at Blue Mountain that are cheaper. read more

This is a nice little sushi place. We had a lot of personal attention from our waitress and our drinks came quickly. The sake martini I had was extremely strong. The miso was very rich and my eel don had a very generous portion of eel on it. No complaints on my experience here. and I plan on returning next year. read more

Since my mom grew up in Vancouver, she is quite the sushi snob and she absolutely loves this place! We were both surprised at the low rating on Yelp because the sashimi was fresh and cut into good sizes. We ordered the small platter, udon soup, seaweed salad and a couple specialty rolls (sorry but I already forgot the names of the rolls). While it did take a while for our food to come to the table, I did notice that all the seats except for 2 tables was full and everyone had come in at the same time. The quality and taste of the food definitely compensated for the slow service. The owners and the younger waiter (not sure if it was their son or not) were attentive and very nice! It would've been nice to have had a heads up that our platter would take a long time (I would've ordered an appetizer if I had known). I had such a great experience and would definitely come again! At the end they don't bring you the check, you pay up front by the sushi bar. So don't be surprised if your waiter is not coming back to you. The service here was incredibly slow, which we may have been OK with of the food was good. If you have ever had sushi elsewhere before, it's probably best to avoid this restaurant. "tempura" was an odd, soggy breading, and there was no tempura sauce. The teriyaki had almost no taste, and the sushi rolls had no variety in taste or texture.
