We come here often and always enjoy it, but our dinner on 6/14/26 was the best experience we've ever had here! Mario, the cook, did an outstanding job. The food was perfectly seasoned, full of flavor, and cooked to perfection. Usually, we find ourselves adding plenty of white sauce for extra flavor (which we still absolutely love!), but this time the food was so delicious on its own that it hardly needed anything extra. On top of that, Mario was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our server, Funki, was exceptional as well. He was kind, attentive, and always seemed to be one step ahead of our needs. In the past, we've occasionally had servers who disappeared for long periods, making it difficult to get assistance, but Funki was prompt, efficient, and provided some of the best service we've received anywhere. Kiku is good, overall. The filet was tender, and is offered as a dinner special with shrimp and chicken. The food all had good flavor and tasted fresh. The ginger salad dressing is different than other hibachi's, in a not so good way. Also i highly suggest the restaurant pass on serving spaghetti as lo mein. My mother wanted something different for lunch, so I took her here, one of my favorite restaurants in Lake County. They have a very nice ambiance, I find it to be very soothing. It started with the server who took our orders, and was very attentive to us throughout the entire meal. The chef was very entertaining. He did a lot of the usual fancy juggling and tossing of his cooking utensils. But, he did something I had never seen before, which was to light his spatulas on fire and then proceeded to juggle them. It delighted all of us sitting at the table. We ordered the hibachi filet mignon. Our dinner started with salad and Japanese clear soup. They were good, but I preferred to save myself room for the main course. Next, the chef started preparing our meals and kept us engaged the entire time. The dinner portion of the filet mignon comes with rice, noodles, vegetables and, of course, the filet. Everything was absolutely cooked perfectly and was delicious. You could practically cut the filet with a knife! And, don't forget the yum yum sauce. It goes great with everything. I have been here many times, and will continue to go. Was on a cross country work trip and we were really hungry Kiku was right around the corner and I'm so glad we decided to stop Food was delicious ,not really a sushi person. But it was great . Server was very nice and attentive with a big smile which was nice . The ambiance is great a lot of nice pictures and swords behind the bar . We opted for the regular dining area ,but just on the other side they had the Hibachi tables and they were putting a great show for the families ,even singing "Killing me Softly" which was to funny and cool . The worst meal ever at a Japanese Steakhouse. They over cooked the veggies and protein. Instead they serve an outrageous amount of rice and noodles with only a little egg in it, so you end up taking the left overs home, just to pick through it and throw most of the rice and noodles out. The fried rice was bland, and as I said, no bean sprouts, no other veggies in the rice, just an inadequate amount of egg. Also, ordered fried oysters which were almost burnt. The manager asked why I wasn't taking the oysters home, since almost the entire serving was still on our table. I told him they were over done. He offered no accommodation. Portions were okay seems the chef was a little distracted when it came to dividing up the vegetables- and I drew the very short end of that straw (no broccoli, carrots or zucchini serced up on my plate. This was our best experience at Kiku yet! We have come every year for my boyfriend's birthday for the last 4 years and we absolutely love it. The whole staff had us laughing the entire time! We did the hibachi table as always. I got the NY steak and chicken combo which comes with miso soup and ginger salad to start and then the proteins, fried rice, noodles, and veggies which are cooked in front of you by a super talented hibachi chef. We also got a spicy crab roll. All of the food was absolutely delicious! Our chef had each of us attempt to catch a piece of zucchini in our mouths and even used a squirt bottle to give sake shots. For drinks, we tried the "Duck fart" shots, whiskey sours, sake, wine, and Japanese melon soda. The whole experience was so fun. At the end of our meal, the staff sang happy birthday and gave our birthday man a cupcake. The portions were huge so we all had great leftovers. The restaurant was clean and decorated to theme. Dining here is fun however food or my chicken was dry. While I do not think it was the actual chicken I believe it was that there is more banging and flipping than paying attention to the food and the length of time spent on the grill. read more

I love hibachi and generally never have negative things to say about any of them. However, this has to be the worst hibachi I have ever had. Start with the salad dressing which was thin and tasteless. The clear soup was good. The fried rice included rice and egg and nothing else. My main dish was filet and shrimp. Never had it prepared without any fresh garlic. It lacked flavor. Their ginger sauce was supper thin and lacked any fresh ginger. Not to sound picky(ok, maybe it is), but the plates were thin plastic instead of the nice heavy duty plates as in most hibachi houses. First and last time here since it changed ownership. I will say the hibachi chef was entertaining. read more

We've been coming here for the sushi and the Jalapeno Bombs; Jalapenos stuffed with tuna and cream cheese, breaded and fried, cut in halves and topped with a plum sauce. It is well named. Tonight our group of 5 visited Kiku. Not a lot of high marks were given about tonight's location. I wise person once said that the difference between a 1 star restaurant and 5 star restaurant was 5lbs or salt. Well this place is shooting for 10 stars with all the salt being used. The best we could generate was 3 star average for them ( 3 3 stars, 1 4 start, and 1 2 star) Of course the portion of food was huge BUT it was primarily rice and noodles. The quality of food was nothing special or dare I say, disappointing. Chicken was very dry. We would say that if you are a family with teenager and younger children they may enjoy the show. (Don't worry if you miss something your chef does because you can look at your neighbors table and see that chef do it as they all do the same routine). This is not a place that made it to our Must Go Back List. The average price per person was about $23.00 - Sorry Kiku, not a fan. And we are just going to leave it at that without getting into all the details. - no sense in kicking a person when they are already down. read more

Went here with a group of 4 and arrived at 4:30 when they opened. Was seated promptly and our server took the drink order. Drinks were served and he took the dinner order. Soup was brought out, very hot and tasty. Salads came next, it was good. The chef (Yoshi) came and started to cook. He did the usual routine and was very personable. Food was cooked to perfection and serving sizes were large. They serve noodles along with the fried rice and vegetables, which I haven't seen before. Brought home leftovers for lunch the next day. I have been here more times than I can count on both my hands. The food is always good and I always enjoy my experience. My only qualm is that the service is hit or miss. Sometimes our waiter is super polite and attentive and other times it's like we don't exist. They're pretty inconsistent in that regard. Also, if you go on a busy night, prepare to be quite warm.. it gets hot in there with all the flat tops running and packed chairs. Nonetheless, this is one of my favorite places to take my son. They put on a great show for the youngins. And if you arrive before 6pm you can get the early bird special for only $15. It's enough to make three meals out of and includes soup and salad. read more

Good for the most part but I'm very disappointed they changed the spicy salmon sushi. I get it on a weekly basis but they recently just changed how they prepared it. It was a salmon pieces in the sushi but now it seems like they grind it up and now it takes disgusting. I took one bite and spit it out. I called and let them know how I felt. What's even worse is that they went up in price. I don't know if they changed the way they prepare all their sushi or just this particular one but if you do go there do not get this. read more

Wow where do I start. I took my son here for his birthday last night. I arrived and was sat just before 5:30 pm and it was less than a full house. We ordered our drinks and a sushi plate for our family to share. We were seated with another family with children. Our drinks and sushi ( which tasted good arrived quickly). But then both of us families waited over a hr for the man to come start cooking the food. No one said anything to anyone at the table and the other family alongside ours was clearly agitated as well, both of us were wondering what was going on. Finally our person came to cook dinner. My son had to be to work 5 min away at 7. And literally they were putting food on our plate as I was asking for a to go box for his food so he could leave at 6:58. Still no drinks as well now. I got them with the to go box finally. When I asked who I imagined was in charge for a drink or sauce I never received it until finally another person I asked after that was like don't ask the first person for things that I can go get. The food was awful and super bland from the hibachi. The rice had no vegetables, the white sauce tasted sour. Honestly the second worse experience at a hibachi ever!!!! I went to pay the bill and stood there with money in hand looking for someone to take it for a hot min. For a $80 bill I left giving who I imagined was a boss from earlier a $100 on the counter as I walked out! Awful awful awful! Party of two, we arrived around 8 pm and told the hostess that we would like hibachi, but if it meant starting a new table, we were fine with a table in the lounge. The hostess and manager (I think) insisted it would be no problem to start a new hibachi seating for us because they always have late-comers. We were seated and were discussing what appetizers and cocktails we would be having when our waitress came over and chased us to another table where the chef had already started cooking, asking us for our order as we were moved. We have enjoyed visiting this establishment and those that work there know us. We brag to friends and family regarding the quality and quantity. Sadly, my party of 4 encountered water-down olive juice (key to a dirty martini, confirmed by JR), water-down ginger sauce, marginal amount of veggies and noodles (noted by waitress and chef), and worst of all a dirty grill (see picture). The chef was newly hired, however, the portions are not his fault. His method of cleaning the grill however was unlike any seen before; water and towels...leaving particles and streaks of food grease. Service was atrocious tonight. After an hour we had only received soup, salad and husband's sushi. We were given one excuse after another why we weren't getting our food. We had sat in the side without the show thinking it would be faster. When we finally blew up the Manager gave us a 5.00 discount and still charged us for my drink etc. If they had told us there was an extremely long wait for food we would have went elsewhere but they never advised us.
