I will try to keep this short and simple and fair. Place is nice and up to date. Clean and looks like they take care of the place. Everyone is nice and professional. Now the not so good. My opinion. Over priced compared to other Japanese Steakhouse's. 11.00 for hibachi chicken If you want what everyone else serves which is 2 choices? It's 20.00. Down the street those same 2 choices of meat are $5.00 cheaper. The waitress we had was serving too many tables and messing up orders and took forever. May have been her fault or not but it's up to Mgmt to address those issues. We don't think we are going back. read more

Worth a visit and do try the early bird special from 430 to 6 PM -- beef, chicken and shrimp -- and a great show. The food is hot and and plentiful so you certainly get your moneys worth. The salad, although mostly iceberg, was well dressed with a ginger sauce, and was preceded by a simple mushroom clear broth. The group seating bothers some people, but it makes for a different eating experience -- so I would encourage people to consider this. Shortly after being seated at the Hibachi table I complained to our waiter that I could feel a hot steam coming up from under the table, he turned down the grill. That didn't help, in fact the heat got worse when the chef began cooking. It became so uncomfortable I notified the host of the heat, he felt it and told the chef to once agin turn down the heat. I was asked if it felt any better and it was still very hot under the table. When I first felt the steam, I looked under the table to see why and saw a hole between the grill and table. Although a percentage was taken off our bill for my being uncomfortable, I did not appreciate being told that I would feel better as soon as the heat was down. Onto the food, the soup was delicious as was the salad dressing. I ordered chicken and steak, my steak was very bland; even with the white sauce on it! Kiku moved from the old location (6951 Old Hwy 441) to a little bigger building and right off US Highway 441 in a plaza with lots of other shops. They should have a no problem getting people to stop in as this location. Same great food with 8 cooking stations. Their were 6 of us and 4 of us had the special $13 (Chicken, Shrimp and Steak), 1 Steak $13, and one person with salad and egg rolls. Total bill was only $98 with 18% tip included. We have eaten here before at the grill table and found it to be fairly decent. However today we ordered sushi and tempura. It was. Not good. The tempura shrimp with.vegetables was tough and dry with three dry hard onion rings. It hurt my husbands mouth to eat them. I ordered Philadelphia roll which in every other sushi place contained smoked salmon. Not there. The spicy crab wasn't and it just lacked taste. The miso soup came in brown salad bowls and was Luke warm. The waitress did her best she did not cook it but it was bad. We will not be back. read more

Food was okay. Certainly not the best hibachi I've ever had. Even if I didnt have a bad experience with the gift certificate I still wouldnt go back. We visited on March 23 with a few family members. I had received a gift certificate from a co-worker and when I went to use it the waitress told me it was expired. Shocker, the certificate had no expiration date what-so-ever. She told me she had taken it to the owners wife and then to the owner himself. Both refused to take it saying it was expired! How does a business sell a gift certificate and then not honor it saying it was expired? Paying the tab was no problem but I could imagine someone going in there and racking up a large tab thinking its "paid for" then realize the slime ball owner wont honor the certificate HE issued! This way of business makes me wonder where they cut corners in the kitchen. If he's not ashamed to loose a customer then I could only imagine what they do to make their food, drinks, dirty dishwater go further.... I know hibachi and have been to a ton of fantastic places. Unfortunately this is not one of them. The hibachi it's self was flavorless. If I didn't have white sauce I wouldn't have even eaten it. Our chef banged his utensils on the grill lit it on fire, made a sad volcano and smashed eggs on the grill, that was the extent of the show. He had no flair, no jokes, nothing. We had two children at the table who were utterly bored. We paid $18 and got the smallest plate of food I have ever seen. I will not be going back. Bad Father's Day meal. read more

While the food was pretty decent, the service was absolutely horrible. Don't 't dare to walk in an hour before they close. After a half hour, we were basically chased out. The server came with a box, even though I didn't ask for one and I wasn't even close to finished. She never asked if we needed another drink and completely ignored us. Then, who I presume was the cook/owner, came out around the corner towards us to see if I was finished yet. We felt rushed and unwelcome. I work in the service industry myself and I will never go to a restaurant a few minutes before they close, but an hour is acceptable in my opinion. If they don't like that, they should change their hours to 9 p.m. instead of 10 p.m.. I will not go back based on the way we were treated. read more

Agree with Chelsea great food and an awesome Chef are a great blend. Lunch menu was pretty reasonable. Everyone seemed to enjoy "ALL" Ordered a spring roll - waitress said it was made with a thin wrap with shrimp and veggies... hummm I received the typical sushi type "roll" with rice - so, I was a little disappointed, but, took home with remaining meal for next day. read more

They don't put enough sauce on it but then again, no one in the Eustis/Tavares/My.Dora area does hibachi good at all. Friends recommended so I gave it a chance. The menu is typical of any hibachi restaurant so I ordered my usual. Chef repeated same jokes while preparing food. Veggies,rice and noddles are hard to mess up. The "yummie" sauce didn't tasted like other places but it passed. When it came to my filet, it was cooked to perfection however there was not a drop of flavor to it. Again, edible. The most disappointing of my experience was getting my scallops delivered to my plate with teriyaki sauce on them ! Because I was busy eating what was on my plate, I could not tell him that scallops with teriyaki is not what the menu said...anywhere ! I was so irritated, I did not want anymore. The busyman asked me if I wanted a to-go box and when I declined...he didn't ask me why. I spend $50 and maybe ate $10. All it would have taken was the Chef asking if I wanted it on my scallops. But he didn't. My chances of going back are very slim. In this day and age, businesses can't afford to not ask customers leaving why the dinner was left on table after check paid. read more

Bad service our waitress was slow and we had reservations at 7:30 didn't get seated till about 8:20. The time we waited for food was a long time. I would say probably an hour or more to get a drink. Old owners were good but sometime restaurant just need a facelift. Kiku's has new owners to me the taste is fresh again. We are their theirs weekend and can't wait to go back. However do not get the hibachi, my children loved it. My sushi and jalapeño appetizer was delicious!!!!!! read more

We drive by this place a lot and recently stop by to see how good the service and food is compared to the other Japanese steakhouses in the area. We usually go to Lampu and what we found is, both places are pretty much similar, the main difference is the price (This place being more expensive than Lampu). We placed 3 orders of chicken and steak and two Orders of Sushi. The Sushi came out in a nice timely matter, so I was happy there. We're not huge fan of vegetables - I know we should eat them, but we don't. So we ordered our meals to come with no vegetables - extra rice. The soup and salad- same as any other place steakhouses- nothing special -I do enjoy it, just saying its common-. As for the meal- the guy didn't bother to put on a show, he quickly put our rice on for cooking; however, I will admit, he was friendly and nice! -however, part of reason take my kids to these places is they love the little show they gave-. The food was overall good, portion size is nice; however, my one complaint is they put onion in their rice. When people ask for no vegetables - you'd think they may mention that the rice has onions. Overall, enjoyed the food - waiter was very friendly as well as the Chef. Also didn't have to wait on our drinks - kept them refilled which is nice. read more

We went here for dinner and it was a good experience. The service was a little slow but she had multiple big tables. She was very friendly though. I had the chicken and scallops and they were good. This I my favorite hibachi steak house in the Eustis area..Food and service are normally excellent and the lunch prices very reasonable. Went in there today, Valentine's day, and we were NOT told that it is a dinner all day menu.. We normally always get the same thing for lunch which runs anywhere from 8 to $10. Which is why I was shocked when I received a $22 bill for steak and shrimp and a glass of water, that usually only costs about $10 with a tip...when I questioned the bill the response was "oh well it's dinner all day cuz it's Valentine's day." There are no signs posted indicating the price increase, and we were presented with the regular menu that includes the lunch special menu... This is not a reflection on the grill masters that do their usual excellent job cooking the food, but a poor reflection on management for deceiving long-time customers.. read more

For years this has been a favorite restaurant of mine for lunch. Today we ordered what we normally order (steak and chicken hibachi) from the lunch menu but when the bill came we were told that the lunch menu rate didn't apply. They said that because it is Valentine's day, they decided to charge dinner menu prices. I paid the bill and tipped the appropriate 20% but I can no longer recommend this restaurant. I came here on a co-worker's word that this was a great restaurant. I love Asian restaurants, in particular Thai and Japanese. The only reason I didn't give this place a 1, was because the food was okay, and hey, it's Mt. Dora. The pickin's are slim in this part of Florida. We walk in the door and realize the temperature of the restaurant is stifling. It's very hot and humid and the hibachi behind us wasn't helping with the heat. Heat makes me angry, just thinking about the temperature of this place makes me want to give it a one. What makes it worse is they serve Sushi in this swamp-like environment. I ordered the salmon and tuna rolls, thinking this was Amura-style sushi where you actually get a decent sized roll. What I got were tiny little rolls with a bit of fish in them. I ordered the mushroom and onion soup, which by the way is a small bowl of broth, with a piece of mushroom and you might be surprised by the occasional onion. $1.50 for what is essentially hot water. The sushi didn't taste bad, but for $35 I expected to leave feeling the least bit full. Two rolls at other sushi places fill me up. I feel like I'm getting what I pay for. This place felt like the biggest rip off I've experienced in a long time. Even smaller than the portion size was the waitress's presence throughout the meal. I saw her before we ordered, when we got drinks, when we ordered and when she brought us food. Each time was in 10 minute intervals. After that, she may as well have been a white rhino because she seemed to just disappear for the remainder of my time there until she brought us the check. The place is also loud, lots of screaming kids, and they don't seem to separate the hibachi from the rest of the restaurant at all. Will I ever come back? Oh goodness no. read more

RAT!!! I was there on 7/28/18 with my husband. And while waiting to be seated, my husband saw a Rat come running out of the kitchen! The manager was right there and kicked it back in. Another patron was also waiting to be seated and saw it. Needless to say, we ran out of that place so fast. I have always enjoyed Kiku's and I hope this problem is cleared up fast. But for us, we won't be able to come back after seeing that. I wish I could have alerted the people in the restaurant, but we were all in shock and just raced out of there. read more

Haven't gone since they originally opened. Family found it expensive. We continued going to their competitor, Lampu's, for their cheaper price at the time, but after awhile we realized their care and taste of hibachi was going down hill. My family went to an early dinner. It was not crowded at all. The food was great and the proportions were more than enough.

We usually go to lampu but decided to try kiku. Not only is it more expensive but they were rushing the soup and salads out so fast you couldn't finish the first one. Then they start cooking the rice and I'm not even done with the salad. The food is similar to lampu but with a lack of flavor and the cook really doesn't entertain you like lampu. Another weird thing is they cook the noodles last instead of with the rice so if you want all noodle no rice then your gonna be waiting till the end. The building might be newer than lampu but I would recommend lampu hands down over kiku anyday. read more

Passing through on my way back from the coast. Called them for a to go order by mistake, but was pleasantly surprised. We showed up at the restaurant we thought I had called (Japan Express). They were very nice and their food looked really good. Anyway, back to my story. We figured out that I had called Kiku. We went to Kiku and picked up tour food. I was shocked at how reasonable the bill was. When we opened our food, we were shocked again. The servings were huge and it was all delicious. I would recommend them to anyone. I definitely will stop there again and hopefully have time to have it cooked while I sit at the hibachi and eat it there. read more
