It was evident that they are continually investing in improvements. The gem mining experience was a highlight and was enjoyable for both kids and adults. We also appreciated the covered seating areas located throughout the course, which made it comfortable even on a warm day. While the restroom is a portable facility, it was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Overall, this is a wonderful place for families looking to spend quality time together. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be back.

Honestly if I hadn't googled it I thought it was just someone displaying their art. So after googling, we decided to make a stop and boy was it fun to walk around the property! It is much bigger then what you see driving by. My grandkids would have enjoyed all of the metal art pieces and I had a blast walking around and even found a treasure to take home. I wish I could have taken that Cedar Lion but it doesn't fit in the jeep. Only reason I didn't give it a five was I felt they should have shipping options ready, more small options, and a place to sit and maybe have a snack, simple meal and coffee or drinks. Prices on some items seemed too high, most fairly priced. Again for tourists getting items home that are large is an issue and I'd recommend the owners looking into options for their customers instead of customers needing to find a way.

As we wondered from shop to shop, the open doors and cute pup on the porch invited us in to a beautiful space filled with art of all styles. While the walls and tables were lined with completed pieces, the artist staffed for the day was in the middle of completing a beautiful animal print. Overall, Doreen's Art House is a great addition to the downtown Blue Ridge scene and is certainly a spot I will frequent when visiting the area!

The museum is small but it is full of great information. It is true that any of the evidence here could be fabricated and false, but what if it is real? I have not seen any Big Foot, but I have had other experiences that are similar, and for that reason I cannot say this is fake. We checked this place out after returning from the scenic railroad excursion around 2 p.m. It is…read morelocated facing the railroad tracks about 2 blocks south of the train depot. It is beyond the new county courthouse building it what appears to be the prior courthouse. Admission is free, though donations are encouraged. Given that Blue Ridge is a fairly small town, the scope of their arts building was quite impressive. When we visited, they had a gallery exhibit that took up the entrance hallways plus what was the main courtroom. Many of the paintings were very good. My impression was that they host rotating exhibits like this periodically. There are certainly towns much larger than Blue Ridge that have nothing like this facility for their arts communities. In addition to this main exhibit, they also had an arts supply store in the building, as well as a kiln in the basement for pottery (including classes). They also offered classes in upstairs rooms, on various arts-related topics. I believe the town also hosts arts events a few times a year (like plein air sessions and festivals). If we make it back to Blue Ridge in the future, we'll likely return here to see what new exhibits are on display. I'm giving it a 5-rating due to it exceeding expectations by a wide margin.

This was a very nice get away for us while on Spring Break vacation. Brian and Barbie, the owners,…read moreset up this carriage house and 3 acre mini farm about seven years ago. They offer private farm tours, carriage rides, a bed & breakfast, a wedding chapel and lots of flowers to enjoy. My family went on the carriage ride with Brian and Barbie. They use an original carriage from the 1800s which has been updated with fiberglass wheels and hydraulic breaks. The carriage is drawn by Moses and Aaron (Gypsy Vanner Cross horses). The ride takes about one hour along a mountain gravel road. For portions of the ride, Brian & the horses kick up the speed to around 40 mph. It's pretty cool and exhilarating. A fun family friendly experience. The kids enjoyed petting the animals. They have a donkey, a pony, fainting goats, chickens and pheasants. You'll also find daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, a type of cherry blossom and other flowers.
