Absolutely LOVED! The ambiance was incredible. The black lights and weird, artistic decor on the walls made this place stand out more than any other brewery I have been to. They also have a ton of games to play while you sip delicious beer all night long (I recommend the IPA). It's in a perfect spot in downtown Oceanside, and I think everyone should come down and check it out. They have some food options too that look amazing, and the backroom with glow in the dark random stuff in it (sounds weird, but trust me, it's pretty cool). Don't miss out on this place! Nice spot sun Oceanside around a couple of restaurants. I had their barrel ashes Christmas Ale. It was quite tasty. I played a few board games that were available (in varying condition, they actually were a lot of fun, I cannot remember seeing so many games and activities in one brewery before. The beer selection is so-so. Honestly at this point I'm pretty tired of IPAs and similar to many other breweries, Kilowatt has a very IPA heavy selection (at least this was the case the few times I went). The beer they do have isn't bad, nothing to write home about though. The staff is somewhat iffy, it's pretty clear by the way they act and interact (or don't interact) with customers that they're paid by the hour. Maybe I'll stop here again for a quick beer while I'm walking around Oceanside, but I'm not going to hang out here for any extended amount of time. read more

Interior-wise Kilowatt might be the most unique brewery in all of San Diego. Feels like you're in a real-life version of a game of Ms. Pacman only instead of eating little glowing dots you're drinking delicious beers. The entertainment is like the bar games version of that scene from the movie Vegas Vacation, and they even have a giant life-sized lightbrite so it's safe to say that Kilowatt isn't copying anyone. They've got a bunch of beers and styles to choose from and I really love how you can just order litter tasters making the inevitable tough decisions easier than they normally are. If you're walking by and see the glow of Kilowatt, definitely give it a stop in. You won't be disappointed. read more

In town for business and this trip happened to fall on a pretty somber day for me, the one year of losing my best friend. I decided to walk down kilowatt because they have pretty tasty beer and a very laid back vibe. I originally went in with the intention of not interacting with anyone and just kind of sitting in my sorrows. Glad I eventually made it to the bar instead, where I was welcomed without hesitation by a bunch of Oside locals who all knew the bartender. After some of their pastry stouts, I tried some mixes of other beers the bartender recommended. They were really delicious. Everyone was having a great time, taking turn playing songs, and we pretty much all stayed until closing. I mean.. I definitely was the last one there and never once was made to feel like that was a bad thing. It may not seem like a lot, or maybe even special to some, but I really am so thankful to have been there on such a hard day. I needed to not feel alone and this brewery, the bartender, and the locals who love it turned one of the hardest days of my life into something more bearable, and even... normal. Kind of one of those "you never know what someone is going through" kind of things. And it reminded me so much of the good times I had with my best friend before she passed. Cool spot to cool down after being on the beach. The Guava Hazy IPA is perfect. Goes down smooth and packs a punch. Didn't try the food so can't comment on that. There are several games to chose from as well. I ended up taking some beer to go too. read more

Dan was absolutely amazing, he was super personable and helpful when deciding what beer to order. Everything we tried was delicious. There are small bites to eat, nothing crazy. My husband got a hot dog and said it was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is very funky and colorful, just a cool vibe to be around. Great beer spot right in the heart of Oceanside, with the coolest bar top I've ever seen. Love that they have such a wide assortment of beers, ABV strengths and flavors. Honestly, it's some of the tastiest beer I can think of in Oceanside. They have beer bottles & cans to-go as well. A lot of breweries have tables, chairs & places to sit. That's about it. Kilowatt goes the extra mile and fills the space with art, table games and some of the most interesting large-format wall games that I have never seen anywhere else. Of course with COVID you have to buy food, which they do serve and have been since they opened (from what I remember). The food is generally okay, though I would consider some of the many other eateries in the immediate vicinity. Overall really cool place to check out! read more

I would have loved to see the speakeasy experience (Fri/sat evenings only, and we were there on a Sunday), and i wished they were dog friendly. Popped in here for a few minutes while we were waiting on our order at a restaurant close by. Cool beach vibe when you come into this brewery. I was actually looking for a cider or stout (yes, totally different ends of the spectrum), which they didn't currently have. But, they did have at least 15 different beer selections on draft, to compliment some seltzers and slushies (probably should have tried one of these). They have some selections of dogs and sausage if you get hungry, and the typical accompanying topping for them. Really cool branded t-shirts displayed in the corner, unfortunately they were out of my size or I would have for sure grabbed one of these. Wouldn't hesitate to come back by and spend more time at this cool little brewing spot close to the beach. Highly recommend! read more

The interior design is unusual and fun, the roll-up windows let in light and air, and there is a friendly vibe. It is a perfect beach-town tasting room. It is just an eight-minute walk to the pier, and right around the corner from Breakwater Brewery. Both Kilowatt and Breakwater won medals for their beers at the 2019 Great American Beer Festival, so this is a great neighborhood for beer. Over the last year or two, I've really enjoyed Kilowatt beer. They make a wide variety, all of it at least good and some of it great. They do a chai porter I love, and their west coast IPAs are very good. I had a Mandarin Sour when I visited in August that is great for a hot day. There is some food available, too. read more

The service is terrible. The place is actually really cool, there's games and good music but the service killed my whole experience here. I'll explain: the place closes at 12, I got my drink at last call so I was timing my drink to finish by 12 but at 11:56 a worker came and literally snatched the drink out of my hand and told me they were closed. I asked him to give it back so I can chug it but he refused and left and gave attitude. I understand they wanna go home but he could have easily said "it's time to go, chug your drink". Came here on a weekend trip to Oceanside. This was the first place we visited, and I honestly think it was my favorite. The beers were DELICIOUS! No joke! I usually may enjoy one brew but not the next, but everything we had here was off the charts! Because of Covid restrictions we had to order food, but they also had GREAT options! Tasty! Cheap! Like a 3 dollar hot dog, or you can even buy a small bag of chips. They made it so easy and flexible. But the food was actually as great as the beer! Mike was the bartender at the time. He was so kind, knowledgeable, and helped up know Kilowatt better. He also suggested many other things in Oceanside. He really gave our trip a great start. I wish we could've made it back before departing, but I'm sure we will be back again. Please give this place your business. Quality beer, service, ambiance! Tried several beers all fantastic! The brewmaster is a genius! I don't care much for hops, so tried the green tea one I know that sounds weird but it is really good. The coconut blonde was also amazing with just a hint of coconut it doesn't overpower at all. The server was not friendly so that's why I removed one star. Back again trying the games and my husband loves it, so yeah, kicking it up to 5 stars. Well done Kilowatt! read more

I've been to the other locations and this one has to be one of my favorites. Each location is unique to its own but the one in oside is like.... modern eclectic, funky and the games have been refined. Pretty close to the beach so you can walk around. They have food but didn't get to try. But the beer wow, I've never had a good guava beer and this one beats the rest. Hazy was pretty good too. They were super busy due to a Yelp event but they still had quick service with a smile. I'm a beer judge but this is for drinking pleasure, not competition, so I was happy. They have a wide range of beers to suit every taste, so I give them two thumbs up. They have food that's prepackaged by a caterer that is not bad, but wish they had free pretzels or bar mix or something. I have to say the GM was super simpatico when I asked for more chips to go with my salsa, so again, service with a smile. We will be back, especially when we need a brewery that has good IPAs but lots of beer for peeps that aren't IPA fans. The choc Mac stout would be amaze balls over ice cream but since I didn't have any, I got a taster of raspberry sour and made a blend. Chocolate and raspberries. Dessert in a glass. read more
