Pulled off the freeway after heading home from Del Mar race track to eat. Yelped and found this place. Sat at the bar. I had the short rib empanadas with gouda cheese dipping sauce, and hubby had the 101 Burger. Empanadas are huge, and really tasty. Hubby said the burger was really good as well. Staff friendly, service was great. I wish this place was closer to home.

Love this place. Had sliders last time I was here and thought I had written a review but I guess it was just on their receipt survey. Well, the sliders were delicious. The truffle French fries were GREAT! and I don't like fries. Brought my friend in and we shared a French toast with peanut butter. It was way too sweet and yet it was delicious. When ever I am in town I have to eat here.

Was able to be seated right away with my party of 4 on a Saturday evening. Open concept seating, and we were placed indoors. The sunlight pointing directly at our spot wasn't favorable. They have a happy hour available but we just missed it. I don't think their cocktails sound too enticing for my taste. The food was enjoyable, and the fries came with a big portion for the price. The cheesecake was pretty standard, but I have a preference for dark chocolate. One of the big reasons we visited is they had an online promotion for $20 off the bill with no minimum total required. Even after paying the bill, I saw another offer on their website saying get $15 off your next order if you submit your bill total so it seems like they are big on the online coupons. Staff is friendly, only complaint is our server forgetting to bring us a box before we left.

Happy hour. Half off drinks 4-6 everyday

I have been here a few times. They have a great happy hour every day from 4-6 if you seat outside. That is key. Half off all cocktails and a pretty good happy hour food. We have tried almost everything. I have not been disappointed yet. They have live music at times. The service as pretty great. They are attentive and almost check up on you. We walk here many times that my dog know his way here.

We were a party of 6 looking for a good place to eat on a Saturday afternoon, and have a great experience at this Bar and Grill not far from the Oceanside Pier. We were worried about parking because the reviews were hit or miss about it, but we found ample parking right on the curb in front of the restaurant around 4pm on a Saturday. I'm sure it gets busier later, but when we went there was a lot of parking even on a Saturday. They have some nice long tables in the patio area for larger groups which worked out great for us. The staff was very friendly and inviting and overall service was excellent. For Appetizers we had the Shrimp and grits, Brussels sprouts and the green chili pork fries which were amazing. A few of us had the Short Rib Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup which was better than I expected, and exceptional! I have had a similar dish once or twice before elsewhere, but the bread turns soggy from the short rib, but somehow they managed to keep the bread nice and crispy despite the large amount of short rib which was moist and extremely tender. Together with the soup, it was a fantastic dish and I'm looking forward to returning for more. Other dishes our group enjoyed were the Mission Burger and the 101 Burger which were also good. They also have a fun drink menu with great drinks on there, and it was happy hour when we got there which was a good deal. A couple of us had the Bookem Danno which was refreshing and a great drink, and another had the sweet and spicy margarita which was good too. Also, it was close enough to the pier that our whole group walked all the way to the pier and back which was only about 5-6 blocks away.

I had been planning happy hour at the Mission Avenue Bar and Grill for a while, when we finally made it in on a Sunday night. I really appreciate them having daily 4-6 happy hour because few places offer a discount on weekends in Oceanside. I was very excited about their menu as a gluten-free gal, and they did not disappoint. First of all the cocktails are half off, these are no ordinary cocktails. Mission makes a great craft cocktail, and I really wish we had made it back for another visit. I ordered the Book Em Dano, a tropical rum drink, while his and had the spicy margarita. Both were beautiful garnished $8 drinks. How can you go wrong? We ordered a mishmash, some things on happy hour, some not. Husband had a smashburger with the grilled onions on the side and an order of jalapeno poppers which were breaded and fried with buffalo chicken inside. I ordered a single short rib taco without cabbage on corn tortilla, and the shrimp and grits. I cannot say enough good things about the short rib taco. It was loaded with meat, super tender and a nice topping of pico and cotija cheese. I will say the corn tortilla was pretty ordinary but it held up! No complaints about paying $6 for this single taco. The smashburger was a pretty good size, a good value on the happy hour menu even without fries. The jalapeno poppers were a little strange with the buffalo chicken instead of cream cheese inside, and one was almost completely empty. They were drizzled with a spicy mayo that helped. The shrimp and grits was a lovely presentation, but between the Cajun sauce and the parmesan cheese, the grits were way too salty. I ate them anyway, but I bet the scale reflected it the next day! The shrimp were prepared just the way I like them, a little bit firm. Be sure to sit on the patio if you want the half-price cocktails, inside they are full price minus only $2! Our server was super helpful, and we got to share the patio with three very well behaved large dogs and their owners. Maybe next time we will bring ours!

Cozy spot with a nice ambiance, live music and good food Food: Philly Mac and Cheese and the salmon sliders 4/5 both were good and hit the spot Ambiance: They had live music! They played well and the speakers were at good level so you could still converse while enjoying the show Service: No issues here, they were friendly! Tip: I recommend booking a reservation due to it being a small spot. Space fills up quickly Overall a good spot to check out!

We kind of stumbled into Mission Ave Bar and Grill after a power outage knocked out a few blocks in Carlsbad, and honestly, it turned into a great surprise. It might look like your typical sports bar, but the food here is on a whole different level. The Brussels sprouts were hands‑down the best I've ever had. For mains, we went with the 101 Wagyu burger and the salmon which were both cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Between the food, the drinks, and the friendly service, this place totally rescued our birthday dinner.

Food was ok, waitress was great, overall it seems like a good place to get a beer. Food didn't taste fresh and the burger had a bun that was way too soft. Fries had a weird after taste. TLDR: food was just bar food and very good service

Came here with a friend after a bad experience at another bar. Have to say this place was really nice, the bartenders were very welcoming, it was a good chill bar and the drinks were good. It was not too packed, but that could also be since we were there towards closing time.

So glad that my partner and I stumbled upon this joint bc it's truly a gem! I'm not typically a burger gal, but after my dinner here I gladly changed my mind after having their 101 burger. After my first bite, I said, "WOWWW this is probably the best burger I've ever had!" a little too loudly bc it was that tasty whoopsies. The bacon jam and bbq sauce really added something and the quality of meat was excellent too. Eve was awesome and I loved her recommendation of a sweet and spicy margarita!! Good food, good drinks, good company, what more can I ask for?

While visiting with family in the area we decided to find a local place to have a meal and relax. The Mission Ave was perfect. It was a quiet evening, kind of weird for a Saturday but I'll take it! We even found a parking spot right out front. Great service and good food are always a plus in my book. My husband and I shared the Cubano sandwich. Yum! They have an excellent speciality cocktail and beer list. Plenty of seating inside and a semi open area at the front that is perfect for those fabulous SoCal weather days. Prices were on par with other establishments. Portions were good for sharing, but that's just my opinion. If you're hungry then by all means, eat it all!

    Happy hour on Sunday?

Happy Hour is Daily 4-6pm, but you need to sit on the recently renovated patio to get 50% off drinks

Are you guys doing anything special for the Super Bowl?

Hi Jason, thank you for reaching out. Yes, we typically fill up and have a great time. The volume is on and up to add to the excitement. The last few years we run two food specials that represent each team's city. Last year we had a Philly…

Do they have a Corkage fee?

    Yes, $15.

    Do you have karaoke?

    Not that I know

Saw 2 different answers to same ?. Do they have bottomless mimosas on any weekend day currently?

Unfortunately, no. They do have a brunch special on Saturdays and Sunday's for a bottle of champagne and your choice of juice.

What type of entertainment do they have?

Hello, we have live music Sunday-Thursday evenings from 6:30-9pm.

Will you be showing UFC 274 tonight?

    No, sorry! Maybe try Rookies.

What time is happy hour and on Sunday?

Hello Judy! Happy hour is Monday-Friday, 2-5pm. Enjoy $2 off specialty cocktails, wells, draft beers, and all wines by the glass. $3 off all "small bites" menu items.

Is the paquicao and ugas boxing match being shown?

    Call them and ask.

Is it best to reserve for dinner on a Friday 11pm?

Is the wifi strong enough to write a research paper?

I don't know, but I bet it is. But the place may not be conducive to writing anything that you have to concentrate on. There are only bar top tables or the bar to sit. Good luck!

Has live music returned to Mission yet?

    Yes! Check the schedule online.

    Are bottomless mimosas coming back?

Currently no mostly due to Covid dining restrictions. I suggest calling them back periodically as those restrictions ease.

Do they still offer bottomless mimosas on Saturdays even with the new covid changes?

No because of Covid but you can still buy the bottles.

Let me know when the mask craze is over and then we'll be in?

It's so fun to be surprised and the bartender always makes such an amazing drink. I recommend putting your name on the list ahead of time then walking around the area until you can be seated! The wait time always goes faster than they tell you so be prepared! Either way it is worth the wait.

We arrived early on a Friday evening, and thankfully it wasn't crowded. Since they don't take reservations, getting there early is definitely the way to go. We ordered the Dealer's Choice, which was refreshing, balanced, and beautifully presented. We also tried one of their stronger signature cocktails, and they definitely don't hold back -- there's a reason they limit those drinks to two per person! Both drinks were creative and well-crafted. The bartenders clearly know their craft, and the drink presentation was outstanding. Service was good, although not especially memorable, which is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. One thing that would make the experience even more immersive would be if the entire staff wore cowboy attire to match the Old West theme. With the speakeasy setting and vintage decor, it would add a fun touch and make the experience feel even more authentic. Overall, Twain Speakeasy offers excellent cocktails, good music, and a unique atmosphere. I would definitely come back again, and my recommendation is to arrive early since reservations aren't available and I can see this place filling up quickly on busy nights.

Most recently we were there for an event and as always, they were nothing short of exceptional! The drinks are always fantastic but what really elevates this place is the staff. They always have the best attitude, they are so accommodating, and you can tell they want you to enjoy your experience in every way. During our most recent visit, Lamar really went above and beyond to ensure our group was able to all be together for an event. I'm so very grateful for his assistance and wanted to say thank you again for everything! This place is an absolute must each time we visit, and I would highly recommend adding it to your list to try!

Staff was also not very attentive to guests' needs, rather just going through the motions. For instance, they noted "standing room only" and that they would eventually seat our party of two. They walked us to an exact spot on the floor to stand and view the menu in the dark (we used our phone flashlights, but it wasn't easy while carrying our belongings too), and they instructed us not to order at the bar in this colorful but dimly lit tiki lounge. We essentially ordered from staff who took our order in the middle of the floor, then we had to hold our drinks, some that came with additional shot glasses, in full hands, as we were never seated. We did find a barrel to set our drinks on later, but their process and expectations for guests was just really weird and impractical. The theme and decor of the setting was lovely, with moments of a lightning and thunder effect that made the experience more immersive. But we were not impressed by the sticky menus and sticky floor, nor the lack of service and minimal help from staff while there. We made the most of our time at False Idol regardless of their shortcomings. The bombay sling and enigma de muerte were pretty decent in quality and flavor, so it's safe to say the drinks aren't the problem here. And though we probably won't return, it was cool for a one-time experience.

My husband and I stopped in to Frankie's on a recent Saturday at 5pm. Our kiddo had a performance down the street at 6pm so we had a little time to kill beforehand. The neighboring spots looked busy so we decided to go with Frankie's, seeing as they were less inundated at the time and we had a time constraint. Another allure was the sandwich board at the front door advertising discounted cocktails - sold!! Inside there were a handful of patrons at the bar, another table with two additional patrons and maybe a couple on the patio so it was fairly quiet and slow, so it looked promising. We headed up to the bar and hung out behind two empty barstools, the single female bartender greeted us and said she'd be right with us, but then continued chatting up the seated patrons, serving them and their friends that had just joined (AFTER we'd arrived). We moved a little further down to the handoff area where she was making drinks to save her having to come back to us again, and stood there for probably 10 minutes while she took orders and made all the drinks. We commented that she looked like she could definitely use a hand, and she said they were still adjusting into summer hours and determining whether more coverage was needed at this time - I figured 5pm on a Saturday should be primetime, so I'm not sure in what universe having a single bartender makes any sense. Finally we placed our cocktail orders, waited while they were made, and then put our card down for the tab. After we'd paid, I noticed the cocktails were more expensive than advertised on the sandwich board out front - I couldn't find a disclaimer anywhere that said only certain cocktails were included, so while it was a bummer I wasn't about to wait another 10-15 minutes to catch her attention and ask for clarification. Just a heads up to beware of whatever is advertised that might summon you in from the sidewalk, and make sure you ask before you make your selection. Drinks were very subpar, nothing special to write home about. While I can appreciate the Gatsby-esque vibe they're trying to uphold at Frankie's, they really should increase their staffing especially during prime weekend and evening hours, and be more transparent about their specials and what's included and what's not. Hindsight is 20/20, and the low volume of patrons when everything else around it was going off was probably a sign, so we'll skip Frankie's our next go around.
