I had a very disappointing experience at this establishment last night with the owner. The issue…read morestarted when we sat in what appeared to be an empty chair. There was a drink nearby, but no one was sitting there, and nobody in the group ever mentioned that the seat was being saved. What made the situation worse was the way it was handled by the owner. Instead of approaching us professionally, she appeared to be intoxicated and immediately became confrontational. She told us that we "didn't know who we were messing with" and threatened to have us kicked out over what was clearly a simple misunderstanding. As a business owner, professionalism and customer service should come first. There was no reason for customers to be spoken to in such a disrespectful and intimidating manner. A calm conversation could have resolved the issue in seconds. As we were leaving, even some of the employees apologized to us for the owner's behavior and the way the situation was handled. It was clear that they recognized how inappropriate and unprofessional the interaction had been. It wasn't like it was that busy, there was enough seating area. The owner's behavior created an uncomfortable and hostile environment over something that should never have escalated in the first place. Being threatened and spoken down to by the person who owns the business is unacceptable. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this establishment to others.

It seems odd to be leaving a 5-star review for a "bar," but every time I visit Fat Joe's it's such…read morea positive experience it's only fair to rate it as such. We visit at least once a month with friends from the nearby climbing gym, and always with our 6-year-old in tow who LOVES this place thanks to all the games there are to play. My favorite go-to menu item is the crunch wrap with carne asada - it's large so my husband and I usually split it. Their salsa is bomb, too (especially the green). We've also had some of their burgers, tacos, and our daughter always gets a personal pizza. The personal pizza scenario is the only thing I have beef with here - you get a 7" plain cheese pizza for $12, and you can add a max of 3 toppings which cost extra, so in the end our kid's food is more expensive than ours. Hey Fat Joe's - pleeeease considering adding a small pizza to the kid's menu and price it closer to the other $7 and $8 items!! The interior walls of Fat Joe's are decorated with art and murals of all the most important and beloved features of our city. The bartenders are friendly and efficient - drinks are poured/mixed and handed off quickly, and food arrives at your table shortly after. Bathrooms are always well-stocked and clean. Parking is pretty much limited to street parking and while it is limited, we've never had an issue finding a spot nearby. Finding solid family-friendly spots can be in short supply, but Fat Joe's hits all my criteria and remains one of our favorite spots to eat and spend time together.

Their burgers were great! 3 of us had burgers, one had a turkey burger, one of us had carnitas tacos. Those burgers were big and I would say homemade. Fresh veggies, yum, best burgers we have had in awhile!!! The fries homemade and tasty! The quac and homemade chips were so good too. We cannot wait to take our other friends and try more delicious food! You do not find many places with food so good. Can't wait till try more items! I call my husband Wimpy because he is a burger connoisseur and he said he thinks it was in the top 10 of burgers he has had in his lifetime and he has had some good ones!

Second vist and just as great! This time we ordered the…read morebruschetta...it is not your normal bruschetta...it is an amazing combination of marscapone, peaches, honey, and a balsamic glaze on top of toasted ciabatta bread. For dinner I ordered the tri-tip sando. It was excellent but the chimichurri was a bit too strong so I wasn't able to taste much of anything else...the hubs liked it more than I did. The hubs ordered the Pig burger. Two patties...one beef and one pork with bacon jam, white cheddar and bread/butter pickles. The patties were cooked perfectly and the sweet bacon jam was a perfect addition (I'll be ordering this next visit) Both sandwiches came with thin sliced fries. We sat at the bar and Sean was again our server...very attentive and friendly!

The online descriptions appear to be heavily embellished (likely AI-generated), promising far more than what arrives at the table. The steak was noticeably low quality, and the cioppino, advertised with fresh bread, fish, and pasta, tasted like watered-down Campbell's soup concentrate. To make matters worse, the bathroom was filthy. While our waiter was genuinely nice, the food was a huge disappointment. For the price, it was frustrating and disheartening to pay premium rates for such a poor experience. We cannot recommend this place and will not be returning.

I instantly set a reservation (didn't really need it) and we arrived around 4pm on a Tuesday and sat on the patio. Happy hour is daily from 4-6pm and if you sit on the recently renovated patio, drinks are 50% off. I ordered the Ribeye as my birthday entree and we also ordered the Fried Zucchini ($7), Popcorn Chicken ($9), Guajillo Braised Pork Shoulder ($21) and several cocktails ($7 each during HH). Everything was great honestly. No complaints. My wife REALLY loved the braised pork shoulder. My steak was excellent and even though it was free, $32 for a ribeye is the lowest you'll find anywhere. It was nice having not having to fight for a seat. Enjoying a cocktail on the patio in perfect weather is something everyone should try. Highly recommend coming to Mission Ave Bar & Grill for happy hour and to check out the new patio. Make sure to register for their mailing list to get birthday offers too!

But she said "yeah, we have sweet in low" Now we wait for our food and I'll continue the review. Mozzarella sticks were okay. Oil might be old cause they looked darker than normal but the batter was good and cheese sorta melted. 3.5 stars Ordered carne asada fries based of the waitress recommendation. It was okay. Fries were good, cheese was good and good amount, sour cream and guac was good. Carne asada was mid and amount was not that much. Being generous 4 stars Tea was good 4 stars. She was nice but I think over whelmed with customers The Cheese Cake however, saved the day. 5 stars as in I would get it again and again. Once it died down, waitress did come by more often. Over all 3.5 stars but I don't feel right giving this place a 4 so I have to go with 3 And then we get the check and there is a 3% Green Fee (not on the menu but on the check) So that dropped the waitress tip from $30 to $15. But they earned that $5 Green Fee
