I instantly set a reservation (didn't really need it) and we arrived around 4pm on a Tuesday and sat on the patio. Happy hour is daily from 4-6pm and if you sit on the recently renovated patio, drinks are 50% off. I ordered the Ribeye as my birthday entree and we also ordered the Fried Zucchini ($7), Popcorn Chicken ($9), Guajillo Braised Pork Shoulder ($21) and several cocktails ($7 each during HH). Everything was great honestly. No complaints. My wife REALLY loved the braised pork shoulder. My steak was excellent and even though it was free, $32 for a ribeye is the lowest you'll find anywhere. It was nice having not having to fight for a seat. Enjoying a cocktail on the patio in perfect weather is something everyone should try. Highly recommend coming to Mission Ave Bar & Grill for happy hour and to check out the new patio. Make sure to register for their mailing list to get birthday offers too!

Kilowatt Brewing in Oceanside was the perfect spot for a night out while we were camping nearby! We stopped in before our reservation at a local speakeasy and enjoyed trying some of their beers and sours at the bar. The selection was impressive, and the flavors did not disappoint. Such a fun little brewery and great addition to Downtown Oceanside. Love all the interesting games and art-decoish decor. Also a nice selection or beers ranging from light to frothy. The hard seltzer is also an interesting selection. The staff was super friendly and although we did not try the food, was glad to see they offer it. I'm not entirely sure if their menu is complete, but they have an assortment of reds, whites, drafts, cocktails (soju-based), about 20 beers on tap and a few bites (including a smashburger, quesadilla, a burrito, grilled cheese sandwich & now Argentina Empanadas). It's important to take note that there's no kitchen immediately on-site. Honestly, I don't know what to make of this place. I can only guess that the old branding wasn't working, so they swapped up some interior, slapped on some paint and added 2 projection screens? The service was fast, friendly & helpful, thank goodness! The bathrooms were clean at the time of use. But this location appears to lack a sense of identity. The interior wants to say "cozy wine bar". But then they're serving burgers and have sports on the tv. It's all very confusing. I would wish they would pick-a-lane and just focus on that aspect. It appears that this place will be a "fine wine bar", that may have tapas & small bites, but currently carries bar-style foods. The high-tables seat couples or pairs of twos. Since I know they're still working out the kinks, I'll come back later and hope that they come to a focal point on what they want to bring to the dining scene in the downtown area. As it stands, I would really recommend The Meantime to those who want to socialize over some wine, but desire a less populated or crowded scene. So, maybe good for an "after dinner sip" spot or social hangout with no expectation of a big dinner & for the selected sports games.

While you can get a cocktail here, you don't have to. A classic shot and a beer is just as likely to be had here as a stemmed glass proper cocktail. When it's jamming it is near a standing room all the way around. No doorman asking for a password, no re-entry on nights when Heritage are open (Monday is this exception). It's funny to watch South O locals wander in here and realize maybe it's time to stop trying to change places to be like other places and enjoy the experience shown.
