Fun place. I got to relive my college days. The bar has expanded into three different areas. Luckily it wasn't fratty as the reputation - there were some of parents and alumni when I went. I'm an IU alumni and was in town celebrating a 20 year reunion with my sorority sisters. The staff at Kilroy's Sports were escorting a customer out of the bar and I was violently shoved onto my back and smacked my head against the concrete floor. My sorority sister, who has since passed away, worked with the manager who was present at the time who assured her Kilroy's would take full responsibility for my injuries. I went to the ER and was treated for a concussion. Upon receipt of my medical bill, I attempted calling the establishment, but their voice mailbox is full and they claim to only answer the phone after 10:00 pm on Thursday-Sunday. So I wrote a letter and included my bill. I've been working on getting payment now for over 4 months along with my lawyer. It's been a total nightmare. Stay away from this place. read more

Bar is great for a night out dancing, really love that it has created a more "nightclub" type environment at times! The bar itself is also really nice and well decorated, looks pretty. However, this is not a safe space for women or queer people from my experience. I was harassed and treated very poorly by a lot of the male patrons here, as were my friends. Sports clearly knows they are the only club like option for Bloomington partiers. They half-a** most of what they do since they know they're going to fill their tables. The "cover" of $15 is ridiculous especially for a weeknight. I guess it's them really analyzing supply and demand. Evidently, it is working. The towers are never clean so be cautious that you'll find black pieces in your ice. The breadsticks are always solid though. I wish they mixed up the tunes as it seems its very repetitive. Sports is good for dancing on Thursday and Saturday nights in particular. There will be a cover on these nights, but it's only $5 unless there is a major event. The dancin is upstairs in "the jungle". It's a very big bar, with a lot of different rooms and different feels. Wednesday nights they offer bingo and $1 tacos. The tacos are surprisingly great- lots of unique options and a good size! Sports usually doesn't have any great drink specials, not always some average ones. This is a bar that is designed for mass consumption of cheap alcohol, black-out drunk undergrads and food that was cooked in a kitchen that has never been seen by a health inspector. And it is pure perfection. My wife and I stopped by after a campus tour to watch some World Cup footy. It was in the summer and during the week, so besides us, only the die-hard alcoholics were there. We ordered a quick beer and vodka tonic. When the bar tab came to an overwhelming $4.00, we were politely informed that it was $2.00 Tuesday. We then ordered another round. The staff was pleasant but were probably not at the university on scholarship. I wouldn't feed anything coming out of the kitchen to my dog, but I would go back again. Don't wear nice shoes, bring plenty of singles to tip your bartender, and watch out for the 20-year olds with their selfie sticks. Gonna be a fun one! read more

Oh Sports, how I used to love thee! We were in town for Homecoming. This was a staple for us during our college days, so we were for sure going to check it out while we were in town. I will preface this review by saying, we did attend a day party on the patio Sat afternoon. That was 4-star worthy. We had a blast. The only hiccup was the food I ordered, that never came. I went to the bar twice to check on it only to be told they were checking. I didn't understand since other people in our party were served and had eaten already. The second time I asked for my money back. The girl at the bar said she refunded my card. I asked how and she didn't even have my card and asked for a receipt. Now she has to get the manager. They gave me cash back. So that would mean I never got the first refund right? She clearly thought I was a fool. Now on to that evening. Sports was packed! We were excited thinking we were about to relive wall seating, clothes soaked college days. Not so much. It was $10 for the reg line, which was wrapped around the building, or $15 for express. We paid the $15 (even though I don't know that I remember ever paying a cover, but I understand inflation and recouping renovation costs.) We head to the back to go upstairs only to be told its $5 to get upstairs and you have to pay it in the front. Also, unless you have a stamp you don't get unlimited entry. Umm ok, no one told us any of this, so back to the front we go. We get to the pay line to go upstairs, you can pay the $5 but you don't get a stamp. One of my friends was previously a bartender there so she asked the door person what was going on. He took us to the back door (didn't know that existed) we got stamps and headed upstairs. My have things changed. Gone was the huge open dancefloor, now there are VIP areas! I couldn't believe it! We stayed for maybe an hour and left. Sports you broke our hearts, now I understand why there were more of us old heads there. The others knew better. If we are in town we may check out the patio again. read more

Had to check out Kilroy's because ,after all, it is kind of a legendary place in Bloomington, I would just have to say, it's not all that special. The food was good, The drinks were good. The prices were good. But,,, the service was just OK, the place on the whole was kind of dirty and smelly. And, I did not give him a breathalyzer test, but I swear that the bartender was drinking. I was in town to staff my company's week long conference at the University of Indiana and ended up here on Thursday and Friday night. Here's the breakdown: On the first night, my co-workers and I brought over a bunch of clients in their forties and fifties to show them a good time. Unfortunately, it wasn't exactly the hot spot we were hoping for. There was no music, no people, just lots of big TVs showing sports and unbearably sweet strawberry daiquiris that could easily been confused with flavor ice from 1988 doused in cheap rum. (One Star). The second time I came back with a co-worker because there was no other place downtown serving food after 11 PM in the middle of July. Reluctantly, we sat down at the empty bar, confused as to how this place makes any money. The bartender was friendly (I think you could file it under Midwestern charm?) and let us order off the regular menu rather than the sparse bar menu. And since there was little competition for the bartender's attention, our drinks were quickly refilled. (Three Stars). To summarize: I have no idea if this place gets it poppin' during the school year, but it's not a bad choice if you just want to unwind and stick to beer and simple mixed drinks. read more

When im at the bar i usually dont tip till the end of it all(not going to give you a dollar for a 2 dollar drink), after the third drink the bartender refused to serve me and my buddy because we hadnt tipped yet. long story short he yelled at us then had the bus boy escort us out of the place. This place has 2 faces. It can be completely empty in the summers and before 9 PM... You can get some cheap bar food, which actually not bad. I HIGHLY recommend the stuffed pepperoni breadsticks. The are out of this world. And then there's after 9 PM during the school year. Especially weekends. This is the largest bar in the state of Indiana. It can fill up. There is an outdoors area, regular bar, LARGE bar with big screens, back room with another bar, upstairs with another bar and dance floor, and then there's a large padio past the dance floor. Popped into Sports for the last stop of the evening for a bachelorette party. It was everything I remembered from my days at IU and more. There was actually a line to get upstairs to dance so we stayed downstairs, had a few drinks, and enjoyed all of the bros singing along to Journey. Since it was close to the end of the night, it cleared out soon after we got there and we were able to snag a table and take up some space on the floor to make our own dance party. I would like to give a shout out to one of the newer bartenders Kaylee (I'm sure I've butchered the spelling). It was close to last call and I ordered a tie-dye long island and lemon drop shot for the bride-to-be. She was unsure how to make either one, so she asked another, more senior, bartender for help. She was fabulous! She took her time and really listened to the direction that she was given on how to layer the long island to give the tie-dye effect. Sports is one of the best bars I have ever been to. My sister goes to IU and I go to Purdue (I know don't come for me- boilerdown) and we went to Sports and it was one of the best nights of my life. The staff, atmosphere, drink deals, and people were absolutely amazing. If I wasn't a junior, I would consider transferring to IU, but Sports made my visit so fun! Kinda sad I can't go every weekend but Sports will be the place I go when I visit in the future. Purdue really needs to step its game up because there's no bar in West Lafayette that compares to Kilroy's Sports. 10/10 Go Hoosiers! Such a great bar! So many options.. you can chill in the basement sports bar, slam shot shots at at the ice bar, get rowdy in the jungle, live music in the atrium, or hang out in the tiki bar. Don't come here unless you want to be sexually harassed by the fellow bargoers and the bouncers too. Was here once with my friend who's wallet got stolen. We asked for help from the bartenders who keep lost items behind the bar to no avail, so I peeked over the bar to see if I could see hers in the stack and was promptly kicked out for "trying to steal a bottle from behind the bar" and had the overpriced Long Island I just purchased taken away from me. Fast Review: Pro: Good place to catch the game with decent prices for food and drink Con: Slow service and Bad Food This past week I visited three different sports bars to watch my team in the playoffs since I don't have cable or satellite TV. I visit bars at a less than infrequent basis. My visit occurred on a Sunday night during the summer and so unsurprisingly the place was not busy. There was no cover charge when I visited. Aft'er entering I seated myself at a table. The view of the sports on TVs was great. Despite not being busy service was slow and it was probably 15 minutes until a server first came by. I didn't mind as I was there to watch an entire hockey game but if prompt service is important to you skip this place. I really liked my server though as he was very laid back and friendly. They have food and drink specials listed on their website. Sunday is 25 cent boneless wings. This is a poor label as really they are chicken nuggets. 25 cents is a fair price but they are completely different from a boneless wing at Buffalo Wild Wings. They also had a $1 double up special which allows for any order to be doubled for $1. Whether you want two orders of Jack and Coke or two orders of Breadsticks that second order is just $1. Although service and food was poor the price was right. For 2 beers, 16 chicken "boneless wing" nuggets, two orders of breadsticks, and a Pepsi (I ordered a glass of Coke and was brought a small pitcher) the tab came to $14. This is half what I spent across the street the night before at Scotty's and half what I spent at Buffalo Wild Wings earlier in the week. read more

This review is based off of the food and drinks. This establishment is rather large and was told this is the spot for sports. We came here to watch the tigers play the Oakland A's. The drinks were modestly price. The food was subpar though and gross. I ordered a bbq chicken sandwich. It didn't taste like bbq. It tasted like warm chewy chicken with really sweet ketchup. Food lacked seasoning. I was the bar food i ordered would be palatable and at least edible. It was not. I wasn't obviously expecting the worlds best mf sandwich. This however was disgusting. Luckily the ambiance made up for the bad food and the beers in me made me more generous than i should be on star ratings. My friend ordered fried mozzerella cheese sticks. Those looked decent and tasty. The establishment is rather large and seemed like this would be a great time during the summer. They offer a really big outdoor area to drink and this spot seems to really draw the locals. read more

Thought I would support a 'new' place for lunch. As of the 1st of July, they were to be open for lunch from 11-3. I had a card from Taste of Bloomington and a sign outside the sports bar said they had lunch. Once we found the right door to enter (no clear signage), the place was completely empty except for one employee (or so I think she was). No one greeted us, no one even tried to help. The lady at the bar looked at us and when right back to doing what she was doing. If you had been planning on opening for lunch, then you need to look like your open for lunch and actually have someone there to greet the people and offer them a menu. Stay away unless your in college and just want to get drunk. They may run a decent bar but they don't know how to run a restaurant. read more

Decent place, nice setting, BUT... Kilroy's uses the Kilroy was here emblem which is a WWII reference associated with GIs in the 1940s. While they are not obligated to provide a discount on the cover charge for military, it would be a nice gesture since they are profiting off of an emblem associated with military culture and history. The staff seem ignorant to the reference as well. I would suggest if you don't want to be associated with the "Kilroy was here" emblem remove it from your building. read more
