We love Kilwins, whether it is in Frankfort, Traverse City, Fort Lauderdale. The chocolate is made to perfection and served up quickly with a smile. The store is always clean and tidy. I love the over the top gourmet apples on a stick dipped in chocolate and garnished with yummy nuts & caramel. I always grab some chocolate by the pound. Be sure to stop in Kilwins. After walking out of the brewery down the road, we passed a couple of girls holding ice cream in a waffle cone. "That's what I need in my life right now", luckily for me, my boyfriend was talking about the ice cream. When you walk into Kilwin's the smell of fresh waffle cones and fudge is enough to give you a sweet tooth, but they should bottle that up and sell it as perfume. The store is a little crammed for space if there are larger groups waiting for their ice cream to be scooped, wish they had a little bit more wiggle-room! The ice cream really hit the spot, the waffle cone was fresh. There is a plethora of different flavors ranging from chocolatey to sorbets, fruity to decadent. I am bummed I didn't get more, bear claws, truffles, fudge, chocolate covered marshmallow treats... There is so much to choose from at Kilwin's. My $6.15 for a single scoop waffle cone was very worth it. I didn't feel that was too steep at all, shoot, it's about the same as a Coldstone Creamery! You would never think that sticker shock and candy stores would be synonymous but just is the case regarding this Frankfort Michigan location. I stopped in on Saturday October 11th after noticing they had fresh caramel apples. I first went to pick up a bag of caramel corn with almonds. I then turned it over to check the price (there is a reason they place the sticker on the bottom) and to my shock they wanted $22.95 for it. I promptly placed the caramel corn back on the shelf and proceeded to check out the caramel apple with pecans. They had it priced at $6.75! Had I been stupid enough to make this purchase, these 2 items would have cost me $31.48! Now, outside of greed, what is their justification for such outrageous prices? Keep in mind, they are the only game in town right now. So, crowded store, not a lot of action at the cash register was noted. Be careful Kilwin's of Frankfort, competition may be on the horizon and your days may be numbered as has happened to you in other resort towns. read more

Despite the hoopla over Moomer's ice cream, I'll take Kilwin's any day. It's 5 star quality, but it's not unique as it's a chain. It is great they make a lot of their products in house however. The fudge has some sort of crack in it. This place is just complete sin, but worth going to confession over. But uh oh, what's going on here? I was in three times this summer and the inventories were decimated. Empty racks and displays. A couple times they seemed understaffed (that might explain shortages.) The third visit there were three girls standing back waiting to serve ice cream. There was no engagement with us or any of the other customers until someone asked them for something. Marika was the girl who finally helped us and she was rude! Insolent even. I was pretty astonished to be quite honest. The product is great, now if the management can coral the troops and organize things a bit better it'll be a home run! read more

Kilwin's of Frankfort is overpriced, the employees don't know what they are doing and not the tastiest ice cream you can get for that kind of money. $5.00 and $9.00 for a single and a double should be excellent ice cream, but it is not what you would expect for that money. Whenever I get ice cream from them, I am unhappy with my purchase and throw it right out. Their packaged treats are quite stale when you open them for the first time. I would recommend choosing a different ice cream place then Kilwins when looking for a treat. read more
