Wow, this was really bad. I don't get Yelp! reviews sometimes - the Cove for example in Leland got 3.8; this place was 4.1. There was no comparison between the two, the Cove had much, much better food and cocktails. Frito Misto was like it had been left for an eternity in a deep fryer with old oil. The salads tasted of lettuce preserver. There was nothing Margharita-like in the "Margharita panini" - it was like off the shelf bread toasted with some odd-tasting chicken, a small tomato slice and... pesto sauce (?)... the only redeeming feature was the gluten free pizza, which wasn't great but not awful. And then the cocktails... someone went nuts with the simple sugar! Sugar bombs all around! My wife's "Italian Courier" was undrinkable - the server amenably swapped it out for a no alcohol Blueberry Lavender something (with a shot of Tito's), which tasted like neither Blueberry nor lavender... Finally, the interior could use a nice touch up... looking a bit tired, which is how I feel having written this review. Silver lining: our server was very friendly, completely understood our feelings and went out of her way to make our lunch experience a nice one...

As an Italian living in west Michigan finding food is challenging. We have some luck with restaurants when going north but frankly not much. Vita Bella reminded me of the Italian grocery store in my hometown. The canolis were great and we took back sandwiches, and other fresh Italian goods. It's not large but sometimes you just need a little Italy to bring some joy into your life.

We happen upon Vita Bella on our travels in Michigan. What a delicious surprise of Italian food. Everyone got something different off the menu from Pizza to soup and salad and some sandwiches. Everyone cleaned their plate as we sat outside to enjoy the sunshine and the passers by who were enjoying the lakeside town. The place is quaint and very clean, and clean bathrooms too. The wait staff were fabulous and very knowledgeable and helpful with numerous suggestions of things to do and see in the area. 10 out of 10

Gracie is absolutely fantastic. So fun and great to chat with. She may be busy behind the bar but her cocktail making skills are as sharp as she is. 10/10 visit with Gracie and enjoy the delicious food!

One of the best Italian meals we can remember! The ambience, the service, the food; great wine selection! Highly recommend!

Wow! Just wow. Amazing meal. Service was good and they were short staffed but did the best they could. Nice indoor, nice patio overlooking the water, and outdoor seating too. Restaurant nice for dates or for family dinners. We highly recommend

Her warmth and friendliness was matched by the staff who made our dining experience so comfortable. We were promptly seated and received outstanding service. Portions were large and meals come with bread and a house antipasto salad. Our meals were exceptional. My wife had Chicken Saltimbocca and I tried Linguine with Salmon. Chicken was flavorful; salmon was perfect; the pasta was 4 star. The food was so good that we even ventured into a dessert (rare for us). We tried a lemon cake with glaze and VERY fresh strawberries; it was wonderful. A small restaurant that is a gem and well worth it. An outstanding dining experience. (Rest of the party was long done by the time we got meals). Asked for the manager but our server (Liz?) said she was the manager and tried to fix it by cooking the steaks more - kinda was uncool to sit while everyone else ate while 2 of our party were waiting. Food : steaks (see above), pesto pasta was good. Heirloom tomato salad was very good but star was tomatoes themselves and presentation was odd with dollop of dressing on each tomato - needed some acidity in the dressing. Chicken saltimbocca was OK but very sweet. Nearby places were closed so we ordered dessert. Tiramisu wasn't very good and peach cake was dry but probably also tainted by the experience. They comped the dessert after we ordered. Bill was over $300 for a crappy experience. Wouldn't recommend. We were here 15 years ago and it was really good and we were looking forward to returning - we live 1600 miles away so it kinda was a big deal to return here over La Becasse. Oh well.

So much so that when her parents came to visit, I wanted to take them here, and I'm glad I did. We made reservations for 4 people ahead of time, which is recommended, and we got a nice table inside. Rachel was our server and what a complete gem of a human. Rachel is funny, attentive, and just plain awesome. Three out of four of us got drinks and my Old Fashioned was made VERY well, I know it's a simple drink, but you'd be surprised. My girls aperol spritz was also made well. Nobody ordered appetizers but I chose a bowl of Morel Forest Mushroom Bisque and HOLY SH*T was it good. Once I tried it I had to make everyone at the table try it and we all had the same reaction. Rachel came to check in on us about the drinks n soup and I expressed how great it was. The pizzas came out a little too soon but it was fine since nobody got appetizers. My girl got the Spanish pizza and her dad ordered the Smoked Brisket BBQ, and they loved their food. The Spanish was a perfect balance of sweet n savory and had a crunch with the nuts and was absolutely awesome. I didn't try the bbq pizza because it was gone quickly haha. I ordered the Chicken Parm, which is going to be hard not to get next time. The pasta seems made fresh, the sauce was bright and flavorful for 'just a red sauce' and the chicken was unreal, just perfect. Outside was crunchy and inside was juicy and perfectly cooked. Now, despite being absolutely one of the best Chicken Parms I've ever had, I was only able to eat about 1/3 of this plate. It was SO much food l but I was excited to take it home. My girls mom didn't get Chicken Marsala til a bit after we all started eating, and when it finally came out it looked smelled awesome. After a little allergy scare ( totally cleared up and no issues on either end) we decided to grab desserts to go (which ended up being incredible as well much later) Rachel and the chef that we met were absolute legends and despite a couple little oversights (early pizzas and late entree) I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I'm sad I didn't get any photos but everything was too great to waste time on a phone. Thanks Nittolos, we'll be back soon!

The restaurant itself had a beautiful, rustic and romantic atmosphere, and the hostess was lovely about accommodating our request for a quieter table. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill once our waitress began taking our order. She initially gave us great wine recommendations and was pleasant while explaining the specials. However, when I decided to order the white pizza instead of the trout because I wanted something lighter, her attitude completely changed. She became noticeably aggressive and dismissive, which made us feel as though we were being judged for choosing a less expensive item from the menu. The service continued to be disappointing. I had to ask for the complimentary bread, and I waited nearly 30 minutes for the second half of my wine. When we asked about it, we were abruptly told that the bar was busy. Her tone throughout the rest of the meal was extremely inconsistent, including literally yelling across the table, "How's the food?" It was so unexpected that my husband and I almost had to laugh. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't make up for the experience. The appetizers were decent, but our mains--the ravioli and white pizza--were very average and lacked flavor. We've been to many fine-dining and Michelin-starred restaurants around the world, and we understand that service can occasionally have an off night. What was disappointing here was feeling judged based on what we chose to order. Customers should feel comfortable ordering anything from a restaurant's own menu without being treated differently because of the price. The restaurant itself has a beautiful atmosphere and a lot of potential, but given our overall experience, we unfortunately won't be returning or recommending it to family and friends.

Just the word of caution. Will I return? Yes, because it's the only fish, fresh fish, store within 50 or 60 miles of Frankfort. I compare fish processing outlets, to a business just outside Mackinaw city named Big Stone Bay Fishery. We were not in looking for a place to eat just for some fresh fish, and some smoked fish. I think that Big Stone Bay Fishery accommodates the customer better. for instance, they freely provide the customer with ice for the trip back home to the Detroit area.
