I do not typically take the time to write reviews, but some things deserve the time when you feel that a great level of quality received is above and beyond expectations. We commissioned Kim to do a family photoshoot, and for those who have children, you will know very well, doing photoshoots with children is a challenge in itself that requires patience and a fun-loving personality that can attract children to be themselves naturally. Just imagine a child seeing a person with a big fancy DSLR camera with a giant lens pointing at them the entire time. During the shoot she was extremely patient and calm while she worked wonderfully with our two boys (1 and 4), which was not the easiest task. We had a fussy one-year old and a four-year old who was constantly on the move, but Kim expertly captured beautiful pictures of our family and children despite the chaos of our kids. She made excellent use of the time and we never felt rushed at all during the shoot, which we truly appreciated. Of course being in the Pacific Northwest, we naturally took the advantage to take our pictures in the beautiful outdoors and we thank Kim for going out of her way to come to a destination we chose. We were even surprised to know she arrived quite early to scout the location to choose the best spots taking special notice of where the sun and clouds are to get the perfect lighting that captures us, while also showing off the beautiful landscape. The place we had chosen had many wonderful views and Kim took the time to capture each area, while positioning us in the best poses to match the each distinct scenery. And then there were those surprises pictures that she took of us where we were just walking and being natural not knowing pictures were being taken. Those pictures came out amazing! We honestly were worried that the lack of cooperation of our children would affect the pictures, but when we saw them, we were absolutely amazed at how she skillfully captured such beautiful moments which are exactly the memories we were hoping to have. When we saw the finished product, it was so hard to choose from all the wonderful pictures, that we practically chose all the pictures. For us, pictures are a lifetime memory, especially capturing those childhood moments of your children and to know you have a photographer that can take amazing pictures while being very patient is not something in which you often find. There is no question that Kim is able to get those beautiful, memorable shots, but her personality and demeanor during the whole process adds to the pleasant experience of having your pictures taken, she has the special ability to connect very well with all the people in the photoshoot and in turn produce beautiful work. read more

Kim is fantastic. She is a total pro - she has great advice in advance of the session for what to wear, props you might want to bring, and in our case, how to get to the site she had picked out. (We were doing a mini-session, which is short, and in which one family follows right after another.) At the session itself, Kim was efficient but not rushed. She had to work really hard to get my kids to cooperate for the shots of them together, but she was patient and didn't get flustered or frustrated. The very best thing about Kim is that she is incredibly talented. She just knows how to get beautiful shots. I don't know how she does it, but I have seen enough of her work to know that it's true talent, and not just a lucky shot here and there! I guarantee you will have no regrets if you schedule a session with Kim. My advice would be to not wait - schedule it now! When I see photos Kim has taken of newborns or toddlers, I am a bit jealous, as I don't have such fabulous shots of my kids when they were little. I have decent portrait shots from some of the studios around town, but the pictures Kim takes are special. The good news is that it's never too late to get great photos of the people you love (including yourself). Thank you, Kim, for the amazing pictures. We had Kim do our first daughter's one year photo shoot and LOVED the pictures. Kim is so friendly, warm, funny and low-key that our daughter opened up immediately and Kim was able to capture her little spirit. We adored all the photos she took in our session and never felt like we had to "be on". We were ourselves and Kim captured that beautifully! We also had just moved to Seattle and so weren't sure about suitable outdoor locations and Kim found a great place. She was also really flexible, our little one got sick a day or two before our scheduled shoot and Kim was able to re-schedule with no issue. Because we loved our shoot with Kim the first time around we knew we wanted her to capture our second daughter's first birthday as well. Again, she made us feel comfortable and we had such a blast on the shoot that we almost forgot we were getting our pictures taken (a bonus for me because I HATE getting pictures taken). I love that she does so much work with film, it really shows in the photos...she takes her time composing the shots while still capturing the random moments that reflect our lives. I really cherish all the photos Kim has taken and can't wait to book her for more sessions! I would definitely recommend Kim. read more

Kim is an amazing photographer. We have worked with her taking my daughter's portrait (and the whole family) when she was 2 months old and went to our house, had all the setup, and took AMAZING photos. We then had the opportunity to work again with her when Emma turned three and she took the photos of Emma's party, from the decor, to the kids, families, etc. and they are beautiful. She took some outdoor photos of just the family outdoor in the park and we absolutely loved them. She is great with kids, captures them (and the family) in moments that are just precious. She is also super flexible, coming to your house, a venue, outdoor, and just easy and a joy too work with. Emma keeps asking me when Kim is coming back with her camera :-) The final product is extremely high quality. We decided to go with Kim Hildebrand after seeing a friend's family portrait, which Kim took. The portrait was beautifully captured, and the family looked relaxed and natural. We have had two photo shoots with Kim, and we couldn't be more pleased. Kim is a very gifted photographer with a keen artistic eye. She has been able to capture our son's sweetness at 6 months, and his spirit and antics at 9 months. She also was able to capture some beautiful, natural shots of our son with me and with his Dad. Kim is very easy to work with, and makes one feel very at ease during the photo shoot. She is also very professional and responsive to questions, emails etc. When I saw each session's proofs, I was amazed at how Kim was really able to capture a person's essence on film. Where to begin? We have nothing but raving reviews after working with Kim for both our maternity and our newborn photos. Kim's photos speak for themselves, but working with her was a pure joy! From the first email, Kim was prompt, friendly, and professional. We loved all of the advice and information provided before and during our photo sessions. I absolutely hate getting my picture taken, and Kim made it painless and relaxing! We took photos both in her studio as well as at Carkeek park, and both locations provided great pictures. Kim did an amazing job with photographs of our almost two year old son. The photos she took really speak to his personality while still looking amazingly beautiful. The shoot was outdoors in a spot with long grass, flowers and trees. I love that there is an element of nature in all the photos verse a staged studio setting. KIm brought some bubbles and a cute chair and we brought his pail and tricycle. She just shot photos while he played around with the bubbles and on his bike. It was super relaxed and I didn't feel like anything was forced or staged. Kim was so great to work with and I'd recommend her to any of my friends looking for pictures. read more

On Wednesday, 10/30/19 at 5:17 PM (see photo) I left a voicemail message for senior portrait session for my son that went unreturned. Very disappointing for a small business owner virtually in my neighborhood to not show the basic courtesy of returning a phone call, even it's simply to say, "Sorry, I'm booked up". I previously left a similar review to this one which the Yelp moderators removed because it was too similar to other reviews I left for nearby photographers. Kim came to our home for a maternity and newborn shoot for our son this fall. The pictures came out amazing. I chose Kim because her work was my favorite from research I had done online. I noticed that Kim has expert experience with props and how to use them well. Her camera knowledge and use of lightings is evident in her work as well.
