kimber does not stand by their product. I have pad coating issue with my wife's gun. Barely used and sits in a safe. It has been shot maybe 3 times at the range. I have only ever wiped it down with a soft cloth. Pulled it out for the first time in years. the finish looks terrible. Contacted kimber and they told me that it is my fault and I must have cleaned with something. Don't worry we can sell you new slides for 450$. I will never buy another kimber. read more

Definitely DO NOT BUY KIMBER GUNS! Friend has a Kimber Micro 9 stainless body with carbon steel slide. Numerous efforts to contact Kimber about the terrible bluing on the pistol resulting in dissimilar metal reaction fusing the slide to the body after only 2 months of non-use was disturbing in the least. Kimber DOES NOT reply to emails and refused to discuss the problem by phone. There are numerous complaints on the Internet about the same problem and Kimber has yet to address the manufacturing flaw of the Micro 9! A local gun dealer contacted them as well and now no longer stocks Kimber products. He said the rep was unresponsive and bordered on rude when the problem was raised. T I am a retired Marine and have never had such terrible lack of customer service from a gun manufacturer! The company has gone downhill the last few years and I wouldn't trust a Kimber firearm in a firefight!!! Avoid Kimber firearms and don't bother telling me I am full of S**!! If one gun is unreliable and the company refuses to address a critical flaw then others by the same should be questioned. I don't care if you disagree! I bought my kimber .45 stainless II a lil over a year ago, ive had one miss feed that i believe was totaly my fault for not racking it like i should of but after that it has ran flawless never had a jam, i have 2 kimber mags and a mag from my grandpas 1911 he had from before i was born and it functions perfectly. the gun has never failed on me i see alot of people have had bad luck with theres but............ never had an issue. shoot it, clean it, store it, repeat. read more

Majorly disappointed in the Kimber company. After buying a Kimber Micro 9 a few months ago (which is 2 times what I paid for other high quality 9mm's), I first found out that Kimber screwed a small gun maker. They hired him to come up with some improvements, then wouldn't pay him. Next, I purchased an extended Kimber magazine for the Micro 9. There is a gap between the butt of the gun and the base of the magazine leaving a portion of the magazine exposed. REALLY!!! How stupid it that! I purchased this gun in March and carry it in my holster everyday. The bottom screw head on the left side of the grip is rusted. You would think that paying a premium would get you a better quality gun. Absolutely not the $800 price. I purchased a Walther for $345 and it appears to be a better quality. read more

Kimber makes excellent 1911 style pistols. When searching for my first single action 1911, I compared many high end brands. I read hundreds of pages of information about each manufacturer, and finally decided on a Kimber. I wanted a commander sized single stack gun with a stainless steel slide. The Kimber that met my needs was the Pro-Carry. This gun is incredible well made. The tolerances of this gun are super tight and Kimber advised the gun would need a 500 round break in period. During the break in period, i experienced a few failure to feed problems, but this was possibly the most accurate gun I had ever fired. Once the break in period was done, i still had some failure to feed issues so i called Kimber. They said to send them the gun and they would fix it. I mailed it to NY and within a few weeks, my gun was back and better than new. Despite being out of warranty, there was no charge to rework my gun. I was very disgusted since this gun was very expensive, but their customer service really made up for my issues. Now for the not so great. Kimber uses barrels which appear to be stainless, but are actually carbon steel "in the white". These barrels are very prone to rust in New Orleans humidity. I didn't know this, and despite monthly cleanings, my barrel developed minor surface rust. While back at Kimber, the gunsmiths refinished my barrel. They didn't have to do that, as it didn't affect functionality, but it was a nice touch. Despite my few complaints, I love my Kimber. If you're looking for a traditional 1911 style pistol, I urge you to check them out. read more

My father , Myself and all of our friends have MULTIPLE Kimber's. I have about 7 or 8 Kimber's ... mostly custom shop kimbers ... 2 grand kind of guns. I have a 1911 cdp II that I purchased from the original owner who never shot it . Every singe mag I get 2 or 3 failure to discharge the round. After reviewing this issue it seems to be extremely common. This was a fault in design and they actually stop producing external extractors. I called kimber , let them know that im a loyal customer , have tired everything possible to get the guns working and no matter what it does not extract the round. It is an external extractor design . This is a FAULT in design. She told me , yes we can fix this problem and it is 389 dollars for a new side as we don't offer external extractors anymore. I said so a gun was built and designed poorly .. I spent 2,000 for the gun and now I have to spend another 400 to get it working properly because its a 3 year old gun ... I'm a extremely successful guy and the money is irrelevant , I will NEVER purchase another Kimber EVER , I will bash this company for the rest my my life and career in firearm's. I have had smith and Wesson replace hammers for free on 50 year old guns that were 300 dollar guns ... no questions ask . This company will not last long term with this kind of BS talk. read more

The worst customer service I have experienced. Right behind Remington who at least has the excuse that they have changed ownership. I own 3 Kimber rifles and 2 Kimber pistols and one of my rifles the textured coating of the stock is coming off and disintegrating. When I called customer service they told me they won't warranty the stock on a gun that I paid way over $1200 for. The reason I find this very disappointing, besides the value of the gun, is the fact that I had the same thing happen to a CVA muzzleloader that cost me $320 and is at least 5 years older than the Kimber. When I contacted CVA about this issue, they immediately sent me a new stock 100% free, no questions asked. What a disappointing experience I had with Kimber. I will now be selling my Kimbers and will never buy one again. read more

I have had one negative and many other positive experiences with Kimber. I have purchased a number of firearms from them, and currently they all work beautifully. I will start with the negative. Negative: I had problems with my pistols that I purchased from them having FTFs. I spoke with technical support the first time, and they support worker informed me that he will send out the slide stop at no charge. Well, three weeks went by, and no slide stop. He informed me that it would be at the most a week; I gave them three. When I contact them back again, I spoke to another technician, and he informed me that they had no record of my support call and no record of sending in the part. I informed them of the technician I spoke to, and they made it right by sending me my slide stops and free recoil spring for my troubles. Every since then, both of those firearms are working flawlessly. Positives: -Quality of product. Except for the FTFs, which was later corrected, I have not had any additional problems with any of my Kimber firearms. They make a great product and stand by it. When contacting Kimber, they are very efficient in answering questions and helping with problems. I would recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a 1911-style handgun that has the best production quality for the money. read more

Purchased a KDS9C the day it came out several months ago. Promoted as Optics Ready concealed carry double stack 1911, I was super excited about adding this firearm to my carry rotation and owning a Kimber. So disappointing and I wish I read the reviews on Kimber prior to my purchase. The KDS9C is fine and shoots well with irons, but I purchased for the "Optics Ready" feature. Since day 1 they didn't have plates for the optics...kept saying coming soon. Finally after many many many months of waiting the website said they were in stock. I placed my order and crickets. A week went by and no tracking info. I emailed and they replied that they sold out really quickly and sold more than they had??? I hope they know there is a way to set your inventory on a website so you don't sell to customers once you run out. They said they have another shipment coming in and mine would be sent. It's been a month and still nothing. I have emailed them several time and no replies. The customer service is awful, the false advertising of an Optics ready gun when they didn't have plates for it yet is unprofessional. When you spend your hard earned money on a purchase like this, it should come with a plate. yet Kimber charges an extra $100 plus dollars for it. This will be my last Kimber for sure! read more

I am an old guy. Been shooting all my life even as a child. Long story short I have dealt with gun makers and accessory shops all my adult life. For the most part I have had good experiences. And Kimber WAS one of those for years until this week. At a local gun shop I purchased a used 22 conversion kit that was a Kimber. It is the type that slides onto a 1911 frame. It was in great shape and looked barely used. Came in the original box, paperwork, slide, and magazine. Took it home and tried it on 4 different Kimbers, a Para, and a S&W 1911 frame. None would fit! Drove to a local Kimber authorized dealer here in Texas. I walked in there and told them my problem. I told the manager," Please tell me I'm not crazy." He attempted it on 3 different Kimbers, a Ruger, Sig, & Springfield. All 1911 frames. It would not fit on one single 1911 frame. I then drove to where I purchased it. He tried it on 4 different 1911s in his shop. Same problem. Whew! I felt better about myself. It was hitting in the same place on every frame that it hit on my frames not allowing it to slide on. I called Kimber and a lady answered in Alabama. I told her my problem. She gave me a RMA number. and she sent me postage return slips. I send it to Alabama. I don't even get it sent off good and I find a phone message stating they rec'd it. She states that the slide I bought was from 1980. And they tried it on 5 of their 1911s and amazingly fits fine. I called to talk to her. The man that answered said she was off and told me to call back tomorrow. He could not help me? I called as he asked. This day she was on the phone with another customer, and this second female said she could help. Why could this girl help but the guy the day before told me to call back? This girl explains the slide fit fine on their frames. I explained to her that it was tried on probably 15 frames of all different 1911 frames and it would not slide on due to a place on the slide. She then goes on to insist that it fit their guns in Alabama. I guess frames in Texas are different than frames in Alabama. LOL. But then she says since it was bought used there is no warranty, and that since it was made in 1980 they had no parts. I ask her if 1911s made in 1980 are that much different than today? No answer. I ask her how it was possible that it worked perfectly for them but not for 3 experienced gun men, two being in a gunshop with a gunsmith? No answer. Then she admits that they did not check the "functionality" (her words) of the slide. I was at a loss for words when she made that statement. And then she asks me, "Why are you so against buying a new conversion kit?" Folks I NEVER said once to her that I was against anything. I just ask for help with this particular slide. They acted like I was trying to get one over on them. And why in the world would I purchase a new 22 conversion kit if this one wouldn't fit, and Kimber treated me like a red headed step child with this one? Years ago I read an article about a guy who bought a certain Kimber pistol and then was able to buy a extra 38 Super barrel to use with the same gun. I called Kimber to ask and the person I talked to told me which 1911 I needed and then I could buy the 38 Super barrel and magazine. I went and purchased that Kimber. I then called Kimber and advised I wanted to purchase the magazine and 38 Super barrel. This guy said just the opposite. He advised they could not do that any longer due to safety concerns. He was very kind. This guy told me because of me going out and buying that 1911 and then not being able to buy the 38 Super components, he would send me a new Kimber holster and 2 free magazines. That day I told him how much I appreciated his kindness, but that I was old fashioned and could not accept those free items in good consciounce. He insisted but I would not accept them. I am that same man today. I didn't expect NOTHING from Kimber except for them to stand behind one of their products and help a loyal customer. I use to proudly wear Kimber hats, shirts, stickers on my truck, range boxes, etc. NEVER AGAIN! I hate it that I have to look at their pistols in my safes. And to boot they sent it back to me with a receipt stating "Repair Part". No one repaired anything! Our son bought a Kimber 10mm that kept jamming. He had our local gun shop send it back for repair and the gun came back to him all scratched up. Even after having the local store call and verity that the gun was sent to them in great shape, without scratches, they refused to take any action to rectify the situation. I wish I could give negative stars. I bought a Kimber Micro 9 Crimson Trace handgun to carry. I loaded a round because I heard a noise outside, and when I went to unload it and dropped the clip - multiple rounds fell on the floor. The clip dispenses multiple rounds which are floating in the gun. The risk of misfire, jamming, or an accident are definitely pronounced. You should know what's in the chamber, and what's in the clip. I have no assurance that I will ever be able to take a second shot. After 4 years of contacting, complaining about a gun that I CANNOT use - they finally told me today that the Kimber is meant to spit out several rounds each time you load it. They told me "you can send it in, but we won't ever fix that, it will always spit out multiple rounds, the micro 9 does that" - I am done. An expensive gun that I can't shoot, can't trust, and won't work. Don't waste your money on Kimber. They don't care if as a woman, you get one shot off and your gun jams. So I got the Micro 9 esv and took it shooting the 3 following weeks after purchase. The second time out the magazine kept falling out (the one that comes with and the extra I bought) after a shot was taken. At first it was every 5 shots it would happen. This afternoon I had a lengthy discussion with Sergio, Kimber's customer service representative. My Solo has been returned twice for assorted reasons, but the lingering problem is that the gun will not reliably extract an unfired round. Racking the slide to extract a misfired round will result in a jam about 80% of the time. Kimber's position is that the gun is not intended to extract a live round by racking the slide. Their position is that the magazine must be removed, then the unfired round removed, then the magazine re-inserted, and another round chambered. In my opinion, a little striker fired pistol such as the Solo has a better chance of a light primer strike than a hammer fired pistol, so an unfired round is a distinct possibility. The ability to extract that unfired round is critical in a self defense situation. Sergio told me that I could send the gun back into Kimber, but they don't test the gun by trying to eject an unspent round. They only test fire the gun, and if it fires and ejects, then they consider it acceptable. The ability to eject a live round is not a feature that was designed into the Solo. Upon learning that the Kimber Solo was designed in a way that it could NEVER meet my self-defense criteria, I suggested that I send it back, and Kimber could offer me a credit on another of their products that WILL be suitable for self-defense purposes. That suggestion was declined. So now I'm stuck with a Solo that works perfectly according to the way Kimber designed it. Sadly, no one told me that the gun doesn't eject misfired rounds before I spent a lot of money on it. Part of the reason I'm posting this is to vent, partly to warn others before they invest in a Solo, and partly as a longshot that a Kimber representative will read this and attempt to pacify an unhappy customer. read more

I placed a group order with Kimber a while back and everything went well until we received the pistols. The main issue was the design on the grip was not what was discussed. When I called to see what the problem had been, Kimber claimed they had no knowledge of the designs sent. On top of that, the grips were unfinished. The grips had no coating, were chipping in the corners, and did not come as advertised. The sales rep said there was nothing she could do. I purchased a Kimber Black Ice Raptide in 10mm. Got it home and I could not load a round in the chamber. I tried 4 different magazines (Wilson Combat) and could not load a round. Tried 3 different types of ammo. Called customer service and was told to clean it real good and that should correct the problem....really...I cleaned the weapon throughly and after about 40 tries I got a round to load. So, I topped of mag and headed outside to discover I had purchased a very expensive muzzleloader. I think it's more than a dirty gun with tight tolerances. Customer service sent me the RMA crap and the $1400.00 muzzleloader goes back to Kimber. You would think as much as these guns cost they would have better quality control. We'll see... read more

I bought a new Kimber 1911 at a dealer in Florida and unfortunately it didn't contain the requisite bushing wrench in order to properly take it down. That said, I had the dealer call Kimber and they told him that they would ship one out to me. Now it's about two weeks later and I called and all they said was they're way behind in shipping and i'll just have to wait. That is not at all customer friendly. It takes a minute or two to put it in an envelope and address it and shoot it off to me (no pun intended). We're talking about a light piece of plastic. I have a STAINLESS "Kimber Micro 9" with major RUST issues after exactly 1 year. I live in Florida where it is HOT and MUGGY every day. I carry my pistol everyday rain or shine. My last stainless pocket carry from another manufacturer was in my pocket for 7 years and never had any kind of rust issues with the stainless steel or the aluminum frame. My Kimber has issues with both rust on the slide, rusty grip screws, rusty front sight, and pitting on the aluminum frame. I oil and clean my gun every month or so it has continually gotten worse. After contacting the factory I got a response that they could refinish the gun for me at a cost and I should purchase stainless grip screws. Didn't I already spend enough for the so called good name of Kimber. I and all the world should be spending money with a company that uses good stainless steel and has customer service that backs their products. I guess I should have sold it after the first few weeks, especially since it shoots super low, almost a half sight dot off. read more

So the KIMBER website states that prior to returning a firearm you must contact customer service and obtain an RMA number. Problem is, they don't actually answer the phone so you can't get an RMA number and you can't return your item for repair. I spent twenty minutes on hold yesterday and they never picked up. I have a Kimber 84 in 308 with a light strike problem. Reading forums online, this is a common problem. Many folks resort to private gunsmiths after Kimber repairs fail to correct the problem. I am quite humored by the statement on the KIMBER website that says "due to popularity of their 2017 items, average wait time for calls to our customer service center may be longer than usual". I am gonna guess that wait times for customer service center are related to quality of their product and not excitement over new products. What company thinks bragging about their product line in any way compensates for poor customer service and unresponsiveness to phone calls? Why not simply hire additional customer service reps? read more

Returned gun to Kimber. They called three weeks later and said I had a cracked frame and the ejector assembly needed replacing.They said the cracked frame was my fault , did not explain why. I have never dropped the gun or abused it in any way. They never hinted at any responsibility . They said the ejector assembly was no longer made and they had no replacement parts. I thought if they made the gun they would have parts for it. They offered no help with the gun. Their solution was for me to buy a new gun. I don't intend to do any business with Kimber again. The gun is a total loss and Kimber offered no help. read more

I purchased a Kimber Super Match II at the end of January. The next day I took the gun to a an authorized Kimber dealer who charged me $40.00 to return the gun to Kimber because of the trigger pull. Trigger was hard, sloppy and a lot of creep. Kimber sent the gun back after five weeks. A few day later took the gun out to fire it for the first time. The gun shot 3" high at 25 yrds. I then found the elevation screw for the rear sight would not move more than two clicks. The gun was packaged and sent to Kimber (at Kimber's expense). Kimber received the gun on 4/17/2015 and today is 5/4/2015. After talking to Kimber's Customer Service, they have yet to touch the gun and they informed me that they would look into the problem but they are more concerned with the fact that the gun shoots 3" high than they are with the rear sight. I was also informed by Kimber that no matter what ammo I use, the point of impact should not change at 25 yrds. Apparently, Kimber's Customer Service does not do much shooting. I've owned Kimber's top of the line for 4 months and Kimber has had the gun more than I have. I wrote this just to inform Kimber's lack of Quality Control and lack of service. read more

Horrible Customer service!!! Even worse guns!!! Bought a brand new Kimber ultra carry II, barrel and Slide began to rust on a Stainless Steel Gun. Sent In for repairs and was informed they do not cover rust and only have a 1 year warrantee, which tells you they know they make a junk product. They "fixed" it as a courtesy and was returned and obvious rusting pits were still present to which I told them of my dissatisfaction. Now they ignore me because they know it is their fault for using sub standard materials and they will not correct it. Was also told it was my fault because it was not properly cleaned, although I own 20 + other guns and none of them have any rusting problems.......interesting. First and last Kimber. You would think on a stainless gun you would actually get a Stainless steel barrel not a plated carbon steel barrel that is very prone to rusting. Don't believe me? I recently purchased a custom II from The Armory. It is a beautiful firearm except for the all black sights and horrible magazine. I sent the slide back to Kimber to have Meprolight night sights installed. Wow is about all I can say! I have never shot so well with a 45 acp. It is more accurate than my CZ 97b which is also awesome in different ways. The factory mag fails to feed the first round almost everytime. It is gritty feeling when loading rounds. I called Kimber and spoke to CJ. He was understanding and is sending me a new ss 8rd mag n/c. I was a custom service manager for a fortune 500 company and I am appreciative of great service. Kimber makes fine firearms and gives superior service. I will buy more of their products in the futue=Phil read more

I spoke with Sergio, I had issues with a 1911 Raptor Pro II and it had issues with extraction and missfiring. I also got rust on the trigger guard and they tell me its not a warranty issue and refuse to take care of the problem for me. I have to pay to have the gun refinished which when you buy a high end gun (stainless as well) it should not rust. The gun has been taken care of just like all of my other Sig Sauer, Smith and Weeson, H&K and I have had no issues. I do not recommend Kimber to anyone whatsoever. read more
