I had my pistols in a bag next to my chair, secured and unloaded and he demanded that I remove them and put them in my car. Said I was endangering the class, despite the fact that he was carrying a loaded pistol on his hip. I got my license, however, I really don't want to go there for any type of shooting or classes again unless they change their attitude!

For beginners, most of the staff will offer you pointers and help you out. Some will just leave you alone as long as you're not doing anything stupid. They sell ammo if you didn't bring your own, but it's expensive so bringing your own is the best option. It comes down to this. It's the cheapest place to shoot in the area whether you pay per session or go for a membership. If all you want is a place to hang a target and do some target shooting or run some simple drills, it's great. This is by no means a high-end place or a tactical range.

This range was closed due to the landowner not renewing the lease. This was all due to a very…read morequestionable complaint filed by a nearby resident claiming to be hit by a fragment. Nearby land, on the other side of a hill was developed into large expensive homes. One of the new residents claimed being hit by a bullet fragment in her yard. While the path of travel would have been impossible, the town of Greengurgh made a big deal of this in the papers. The town sought to ban all outdoor ranges and the landowner (Con Edison) decided not to renew the lease. This range operated without incident for many decades. No proof of the "accident" was ever made public and the range is gone. This seems to be a case of local wealthy people trying to rid the area of shooters and our 2nd amendment rights. They built their "McMansion" next door to the range, then used their money and influence to shut it down. The local cowardly Democrats just fell in line.
