Make sure you ask for prices up front. My daughter took her dog in for basic services-checkup, 1 vaccine, 1flea/tick, one Heartworm preventative. No bloodwork, no extended visit, nothing special. She was charged $700. !!!! That is ridiculous, even if you can afford it! On top of that, they never told her prices, nor asked if she wanted to leave anything out, etc., just told her the price AFTER service! Never again! read more

Very expensive and they were even remotely gentle, or compassionate with my pet. This was years ago I had this experience, but it was by far the worst veterinarian experience I have had in my lifetime. They took no effort to try and look for a vein before they stuck her to draw blood. They missed several times, and they proceeded to re-insert the needle several times in a row. I told the lady tech she was not a pincushion, and I didn't care if she got bit at this point. It was absolutely ridiculous. After that the " vet" promised me she was going to receive pain killers before lancing an infected wound, I was in the room with him and no pain killer was administered and he took a scalpel and cut it open. I was so sick at hearing my dog scream I never returned. read more

So happy that my neighbor recommended this vet. Couldn't be happier with the nurses and veterinarian. They took my dog Lola right back. The $ was far less than our old vet. They even clipped her nails without my asking and didn't charge us anything. We took her in because we noticed her scratching at it. They packed it and gave her two scripts. I highly recommend this veterinarian to any and all people in need !! We will now be taking both of our dogs to them. Amazing people here !! All the vets AND personnel @ Kimbrough's are great. They really examine your furbaby well and don't do tests unnecessarily. When I have been unable to carry a bag of food to the car, they do it for me. One of my little rescues is there today getting his teeth cleaned at their semi-yearly special of 15% off. I grew up in Longview, but have since moved to Los Angeles. I decided to schedule a vet appointment at Kimbrough for while I was back in Longview visiting my family in July 2019 because it would be substantially cheaper than having the procedures done in LA. My dog needed to have her teeth cleaned, two lipomas removed from her chest, and a skin tag removed from her back ($550). I emailed Kimbrough on February 28, 2019 to book the appointment (that's easier with the time difference) and it took calling them after several weeks to get an emailed response on March 20, 2019 from Cindy. 7/23/19 I spoke to Cindy about having a heart worm test done since they were drawing blood anyway and she said they would do that, no problem. I spoke to Amber who was responsible for transporting my dog to the back and told her that my dog also needed her bordetella vaccination. Amber told me they would give that to her while she was back there. I also showed Amber where the skin tag was located on my dog's back. Later that day I arrived to pick up my dog. Cindy showed me the blood work results and said everything was fine. I asked her how much a box of Heart Guard was and when she told me I said I'd rather get online because it's cheaper. She said that was fine and gave me a coupon to use on Kimbrough's website (where I have to buy the Heart Guard, apparently; I was told they don't do 1-800 PetMeds). Cindy informed me that I had to come back in 10 days to have my dog's stitches taken out. I can't understand why dissolvable stitches weren't used! I told them several times that I was from out of town. So now I have to go to a vet out here to have her stitches removed. When I got back to my parent's house I noticed stitches on her right hip. There were three or four stitches in a place that, to my knowledge, didn't have any issues. I then saw the skin tag that I expressly asked them to remove. I decided to look at the receipt more closely and I saw that I was charged for "remove two lipomas and wart". Then I noticed I wasn't charged for her bordetella vaccination. At this point I called and asked if my dog was given her bordetella vaccination or not. They looked at her file and said no, she wasn't given her bordetella vaccination, but that I could come back in the morning to have that done. My poor dog had to go back to the vet after a very traumatizing experience just the day before. When I got to Kimbrough the next morning she was shaking violently and whimpering. I asked the front desk if it said in her file what was removed from her hip and they didn't know, so I was put in a patient room. I saw Dr. Kimbrough and he looked at her hip, but said he didn't know what was removed since he wasn't the doctor who performed the surgery and he guessed it was a wart or skin tag. I find it very unsettling that the doctor didn't know what was removed and made no effort to find out. To this day, I still have no idea what was removed and have not received a follow up from the office regarding what unrequested item was removed from my dog. While in the patient room with Dr. Kimbrough I expressed my frustration with the bordetella vaccination not being given to my dog the day of her surgery and he apologized and said they needed to work on their communication. I wasn't charged for the consult with Dr. Kimbrough, but I was charged for the bordetella vaccination ($16; not included in the $550). 8/2/19. I placed an order online through Kimbrough's website for my dog's Heart Guard. I received an email on 8/5/19 saying that my order was denied and canceled because my dog was due for a heart worm test. I called Kimbrough and explained the situation (including my living in LA) and the employee told me that no, my dog was not given a heart worm test when she was there for her surgery, but that I'm welcome to come in and have one done. I told her again that I live in LA and can't come back. So now not only do I have to have my dog's stitches removed out here, I also have to get her a heart worm test. I need someone to explain to me how Cindy was going to let me purchase Heart Guard the day I picked up my dog, but then my online request was denied. I've looked at my dog's lab work and from what I can tell she wasn't given a heart worm test. This office either hands out medication after not performing tests that were confirmed with the client and scheduled to be done, or perhaps did the test and did not document it. This has been the worst doctor experience I've ever had (human or animal). It seems as though no one in that office knows what they're doing. Apparently no one wrote down or communicated my requests (heart worm, bordetella, skin tag) and then all they could do was shrug when I followed up to see if my requests were done. Kimbrough has caused me so much grief and frustration. I will never willingly set foot in that practice again. read more

This is the best vet in town. Doc has always taken care of our cockers. Jill loves going there. Annie did. When we lost her, they treated her and us with extreme care. When we looked to adopt, Doc would examine the vet files of the proposed dog to keep us from making mistakes for the dogs sake, our dog and us. The staff is caring and professional. We would take our dogs no where else. ... We've experienced some bad vets in Longview, but not here. read more

I used Dr. Kimbrough for years while I lived in Hallsville and he was good. As of today my opinion has changed. I have a pitbull/boxer mix that some one dumped out at my mother's house and she has been with us for 11 years. She was approximately 3 at the time we took her in. The prices got too expensive for us so we found the Animal Protection League for her shots to save money. Now my babygirl is 14 years old and she is not eating. She has become very weak and I have to help her up because she can't do it by herself. I called to see if the doctor could work out some kind of payment plan so I could bring her in, but the girl that answered the phone (Kristi) told me that they don't do payment plans, and I should consider the care credit card. I asked if this would be based on credit (of which my credit is not the best (due to buying something for someone else and them not paying) yes, I know I shouldn't have, but needless-to-say she would not even talk to the doctor. Now I have to try to find another vet or put her down (of which I don't really want to do). I now would not recommend them. read more

Bad experience with Kimbrough Animal Hospital. My Doxie has not gained weight and has thrown up off and on regularly for nearly a year. Dr. Kimbrough's answer was naseau meds. Finally went to another vet and found out she had an intestinal parasite that was taking most of her nutrition. Found this out in one visit with new vet that Kimbrough did not find in a year and about $2000 later. They are very expensive and from my experience he needs to retire and go home! read more

Called today to see about how much more it would cost to have my kitten declawed when they spay her. The lady informed me it was about 71 dollars more plus a little more for anesthesia. When she found out I had a voucher for my kitten to be spayed from adopting her at PETCO- I was informed that it was completely different. I was then quoted 262 dollars to just have her declawed when they spayed her for free (with voucher) I was floored and questioned her on how there was such a discrepancy in the amount quoted previously - she said they do a lot more when declawing- like keep them overnight. I don't know what that has to do with why if I was paying for them to spay her it was around 71 dollars more to declaw but since I had a voucher it would cost 262 more to declaw. Additionally, I called my vet and they said for 182 they could declaw her separate from spaying or 278 for them to spay and declaw. Reinforces why I do NOT use Kimbrough and do NOT recommend them. read more

Loved Dr. Bogard and her Tech., they were great with both my dogs! I was there for a wellness check on a rescue and had my 4 month old Doberman puppy with me. I inquired about getting her a heartworm pill and told them she had been on one for a month already. After explaining to them we had to buy month to month because of her weight change, without any questions, they said no problem. This was the ultimate test I had for their office because my 4 month old's "Old Vet's Office" said I would need to bring her in to get her tested and probably have to pay for a wellness check again. Right then I knew it was time to find a different Doctor. According to the "American Heartworm Society" dogs should not need to be test until at least 8 months old but encourage you to start them on a heartworm preventative medication before then. With all that being said, this will be my dog's new Doctor's office. I seen the AWESOME team work among everyone and it definitely did not go unnoticed. read more
