This was an interesting experience, and the food was delightful. We ordered takeout through their online website, and it was a pretty seamless experience. I tried one of each flavor of chicken for the cupbap, and it was tasty and fresh. Though as a self proclaimed spice wimp, the sweet and spicy was just a bit beyond my tolerance. Still, I'm glad I had the opportunity to try it by picking what flavors I wanted. The beef bulgogi kimbap was another winner that tasted fresh and delightful, and while the rice cake kkochi had a very lovely chewy texture, the spice level was just a bit much for me. Oddly enough, the first time I ordered, they messed up my cupbap. Extra annoying considering I had ordered take out and only noticed something was wrong once I was safetly settled back at my desk (I 100% could have checked before I left the restaurant so that bit's on me). I immediately called the restaurant to explain what had gone wrong, and they were incredibly apologetic and wanted to make it right for me immediately. They offered to refund me or make me something fresh. I opted for the latter. Honestly, they went above and beyond to make things right for me, and mistakes happen, so to see a business so plainly own their mistake and make up for it is always a plus in my book. I'll be back. K Bunsik is a pretty new establishment; having only been open for 3 months. My husband and I went there for his birthday, after seeing a video review of the place. We were surprised at its location, as it is a few doors down from a breakfast place we have frequented. We laughed at how we don't really pay attention to the other places in that complex.... The fare is Korean street food, which is a bit different than what one would get at a typical Korean restaurant. The decor of K Bunsik is very simple, with cutesy murals on the wall. There was an array of tables & chairs that were well-spaced, and the chairs were comfortable. When you sit at your table, there is a touch screen menu from which you order your food. The menu was a little confusing, for we were not familiar with the system. We asked a waitress for help and she showed us the easy way of finding the description of the menu items (yes, we felt a little foolish LOL). We ordered the Tabletop Ttoekbokki Set for Two, which came with fried dumpling, fried seaweed, soup and pickled relish sides, and drinks. We also ordered Kimpbap, which is a bulgogi sushi roll, and we ordered fried chicken with soy garlic sauce because .. why not? There was a slight snafu because we ordered the Kimpbap without egg (allergy) but it came with egg anyway. They corrected the mistake right away. However, the Ttoekbokki had two boiled eggs in it, which was not listed in the description. Because they were already hard boiled, my husband fished the eggs out and there was no harm/no foul. I realize now that the Ttoekbokki Set will not have a description of the stew on the menu, but if you look at Ttoekbokki à la carte, it does list the egg. Regardless, like the Kimpbap there should be the option to remove egg - or put it on the side. The food was excellent! The Ttoekbokki was cooked at our table (after we took out the egg). It consisted of a spicy broth with fish cake, rice cakes, cabbage, green onions, and glass noodles. The fried dumplings and seaweed rolls were filled with glass noodle japchae, and were an awesome treat. The Kimpbap was delicious, and the chicken was perfectly crispy, sweet, and spicy. Just when we thought the meal couldn't get any better, the chef (?) / manager (?) came out and offered to upgrade our remaining broth with cream. Holy moly, it was good! Just when we thought our meal couldn't have gotten better! The chef then gave us tips on how to best enjoy our meal, such as using the Ttoekbokki broth as a dipping sauce for our dumplings. I also dipped one of my Kimpbap in it.... Yum yum! For drink choices I picked Coke but then, I accidentally chose "Milkis" as our other option. It is described on the can as a cream soda, but then says "milk & yogurt" on the can. My husband decided to be the adventurous one and take it, but he offered me a swig. I braced myself for what I imagined would be a fizzy curdled nightmare. Let's just say I ordered my own Milkis and the Coke I ordered came home with us unopened (LOL). Milkis literally tastes like cream soda - like Faygo, A & W, or the like - only better. There were no dessert offerings that we saw but frankly, our bellies probably would have burst had we tried to eat any. The price was very reasonable and we had a lot of leftovers to bring home. I can't say enough about how good K Bunsik's food is. The decor is simple and the seating is comfortable. There were no time limits on our enjoyment. Came here one day looking for some lunch and ordered here. You use a kiosk that is at the table to order your food. The food was ok. They didn't have many selections and it didn't seem like Korean street food to me. Just a very very small menu. The flavor of the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything to make me come back for. Not sure why the lady gave me a hot cup of light flavored barley tea and then a pitcher of ice cold water without an extra cup. I was very confused. I was happy that K-Bunsik finally reopened! My friend and I got the cupbaps and the garlic chicken. Overall it all tasted really good. My friend missed the deep fried sweet potatoes. They definitely changed their menu up and included more large shareable dishes. I think it's a little pricey for casual Korean food that's mostly carbs. The layout of the place is bright and redecorated from the last time I was there. They now have modern style tablets at the table so you can order from there. Similar to kpot where you can continue adding to your tab during your time there. The guy that works at the Korean grocery store in the same plaza must owner of the restaurant. I don't know if he was nervous to see how new people reacted to his food or just wanted to be helpful, but it was a bit odd that he kept hovering and making comments to me and my friend about how to eat our food or how well she holds the chopsticks (since she's not Asian). But he seemed nice. Overall, I definitely will go back again to try other dishes, but I do hope they bring back some of the more street style foods they had before because that's what made them unique to the other Korean restaurants in MI that I've been to. read more

I'm so happy they re-opened! There have been some changes since the first opening. Now, there is a tablet at each table that you order from. The ordering system is similar to Kpot- you place the order of any dishes you'd like, wait for the food to come out, and pay once you're done. Once you're ready to pay, the waitress will give you the bill. So far, they offer cupbap (different meats), fried dumplings/veggies, tteokbokki that comes with ramen, veggies, and an egg, ramen, cold noodles, and more. I hope they bring the sundae back. We ordered the soy garlic cupbap- soy garlic chicken, rice, japchae, veggies with a side of kimchi and spicy or sweet mayo. Also got an order of beef kimbap. With our dishes, came a fish cake broth, which was perfect for a cold day. Service was quick, friendly, and inviting. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes. They also had a few tvs- one playing K Pop Demon Hunters, k- drama and Netflix. The space is nice and open with some of the tables having the option for a grill- like they have in Korea. read more

It brought back memories of when I lived in Korea, getting Eomuk Kkochi and Kimbap at the 터미널 (bus terminal) to bring snacks with me on a long express bus ride. They are easy to find all over Korea but rare in metro Detroit. Everything I ordered tasted delicious and authentic. I would like to see the menu expand to offer more types of kimbap. My favorites in Korea were tuna with cheese kimbap and egg omelet kimbap. Getting entrees like Jeyuk Deopbap in a casual setting is also convenient. There is complimentary organic cornsilk tea, which is common at restaurants in Korea. It was nice to see it offered here. In addition to food, the store sells items from Korea, including masks, tote bags, keychains, and cell phone accessories. It's a nice touch. read more

The burdock and beef bulgogi Kimbaps were good. Decent filling. The Tteokbokki had a good spice level to it, rice cakes were a bit overcooked, but still chewy. The kimchi pancake was flavorful, thin, somewhat crispy too. The small assortment of tempura was okay, a good sample of their fried items. The soy chicken stick was tender and good. This neat little Korean food mom and pop shop serves up popular Korean street foods. We had a nice spread of rice cake kkochi (pan fried rice cake with sweet, tangy, spicy sauce) Eomuk kkochi (fish cake skewer), bulgogi beef kimbap, and sundae (Korean blood sausage). There is a self-ordering kiosk/station next to the tiny store that sells cute little novelty items, such as magnets, keychains, postcards, etc. Overall the food was pretty good! The kimbap is very fresh and nothing is overly salty. Service is a little slow when it gets busy since there is only 2 people working, but it's nothing too absurd. Worth it! read more

The menu is limited in its options. They only open until seven on most days so you really have to come in early. The service is counter service where you pick up your food but you order everything through a kiosk. Everything is bright, cherry, and clean, which is a definite plus. The prices are above average for what you get. I ordered a Ramen and also the kimbap. They were both decent, but not sure worth the cost. Super excited to come here since it is really hard to find Korean street food in Michigan. The interior design is cute and modern, and they even sell merch on the side as shown in the picture below. Unfortunately, they were out of tea when we were there. For a store that specializes in street food, the food was overall pretty mediocre. I like how they have a small section to buy cute trinkets and other items like stationary. Was only a few minutes away doing some shopping and kept seeing this place pop up on my IG so why not! I don't frequent that area a lot but traffic was terrible getting there around 2:30 and even leaving too but it's Saturday? I love that it self service ordering just like how most of the place are in Korea now too! Nice display pictures to give you and idea of what your getting, which is nice especially for people trying this the first time! Good range of things to choose from 2 or 3 pages if I remember correctly. I paid with card, I don't recall a cash spot but there may be? The drink cooler was super impressive, places tend to carry imported drinks often but not at this capacity and a great value too!!! I know import can be costly but nice to get some of my favorite things and not be price gouged. Got a pocari sweat and a peach water! And for food we had the cup Dakgangjeong was yummy and not to spicy, wish there would've been a higher spice level. The kimchi jeon I think might be the first I've ordered in a long time that was sopped in grease. And the beef bulgogi kimbop hit the spot. The food was all delicious and authentic. Just tried K-Bunsik, is a great little "Korean Street Food" restaurant. We got the bulgogi kimbap and some assorted tempura. It was served with 2 cups of soup broth, and our choice of drinks from the cooler. Everything was delicious. The wait staff were very polite and super friendly. They also have a small library and some different trinkets that you can buy. Pretty cool and quaint. One thing I would suggest is to get some sort of number system like you see in a deli, that would help people know if their order is ready. We will definitely be going back. read more

Loved this little restaurant! When you go in, you order off of a kiosk. All the menu items have pictures and descriptions which is good because I don't know Korean! Haha. We ordered the small size of the Assorted Tempura. It was delicious. It had fried calamari, squid, sweet potato and rice balls. So yummy. We also ordered the Beef Bulgogi Kimbap which is sort of like a sushi roll but with beef. So delicious! There was 12 pieces in each order which was plenty to eat.
