This place is a hidden gem if you're looking for real, authentic Korean food. You can tell the food is made with care--the owner is actually from Korea, and it really shows in the flavor. What I really liked is that they also offer the Korean BBQ experience where you can cook your own food at the table, which makes it fun whether you're going with friends or family. This place is under new ownership and reopened about 6 months go. To be honest, the food wasn't bad as I did enjoy it. Bibimbap has always been on the pricer side, but I feel they are even more pricer now. The chicken wings are 15$ and you only get 5/6 and a larger 27 for 10. I think that's very expensive. However, I did like the sweet hot flavor of the chicken wings. The bulgogi hot stone bowl was 24$ and the bowl was so small and you didn't even get rice cakes with them. I didn't like no did I hate the flavor. It was definitely more savory than the normal sweetness of bulgogi. The side dishes were lacking sadly. Maybe because it was closer to night, but I did not like the side dishes at all. The barely tea was still good. That was my favorite thing about this place and glad it did not change. The decorations are still kind of the same and it didn't look different. The service was also nice. The person helping us was nice e and we did get checked on. Came for lunch with a friend and ordered pork bone soup. I was so excited to see this on the menu and lunch specials. The soup was delicious! I wish it included cabbage and potatoes but nonetheless it was tasty. The banchans, including the kimchi, was fresh and delicious! Service was friendly and the restaurant was clean. We came back again and have never seen my kids eat as much food as they do here. Our favorites: Galbi tang (beef short rib soup), bugulgi fried rice (not on the menu, but they were able to make it upon request), and the seafood pancake. Service is so warm and friendly, and the food is delicious. My son says the ambiance is amazing. Prices are a bit higher (what isn't these days), but everything has been so fresh and consistent, it's absolutely worth it for us. One of my favorite restaurants... is not surviving the covid aftermath. I've been here before on countless occasions. It was the first place I ever had Korean food. I took my mom here for her 50th birthday years ago and treated her to wagyu beef bbq. This is a place I've trusted enough to still try something new during a pandemic. I ordered yukhoe (beef tartare). The menu picture (predominately whited out with tape and with the Japanese portion completely removed) gave me an impression I would get exactly what was marketed regardless of portion size. I asked for the smaller portion because it was my first time trying something so adventurous. Raw beef. Prior to my visit, I browsed through some photos of how it's prepared and was excited to try it. Unfortunately, the restaurant's match stick cuts of beef were still frozen. I had to let it sit for a while so that I could eat it at room temperature so it didn't feel like I was eating a beef popsicle. Yuck I know. Plus I was also waiting for an egg yolk which was told to me was extra (no cost disclosed) after I already ordered it. My recdeipt told me it was $1.50 for that egg yolk. I might as well ordered the full damn portion. Despite the frozen beef... it was still pretty flavorful but just not at the right temperature. The service was annoying and awkward. They kept sending this girl over to my table who barely spoke a drop of english. It was very frustrating because her managers would be a few steps by our table but would watch this girl struggle and then here I am telling them about how I'm missing an egg, clarifications for portions, refills and each time she had to get someone to come to our table to translate. It's not a big deal but when its multiple complaints and you have to express yourself twice...? I don't know. You start perseverating on the issues that piss you off from the whole experience. Plus they don't offer the potato salad as a banchan anymore. Are there new owners? Because I miss how this used to be. Maybe it's time to redo your menu so it looks less cheap. With your decor, it's not a place I would say would be a hole in the wall like your menu suggests.. shorten the menu and keep things fresh. If beef tartare isn't all that popular, stop serving it. And also update your google hours so that it reflects the time when your staff wants to leave. The bussing and the rushing was highly unnecessary when you didn't mention a thing until you starting collecting our dishes. (There were other patrons in the restaurant). RUDE. So so good. I came here for lunch with friends and family and had such a great experience. Staff was friendly and prompt and the pictures in the menu were very helpful. We had the shrimp dumplings to start which were so tasty! Then all of us got the beef bibimbap and it was amazing. We gone here for years for lunch during work and it's always a treat. My favorite is the go to BiBimBop seafood or vegetarian, bento box sometimes or assorted sushi. Always a hit. This time my family went for dinner so we had the time to finally do the bbq. We started with two appetizers that are homemade from start to finish: dumplings and egg roll. DELICIOUS!! Order this every time no matter what! For BBQ we ordered a few different proteins: Ribeye, scallops and spicy pork. We cooked them at our own pace but the waitress helped show us how to do it first (which was very helpful). With the meat slices thin it's just moments on either side to give it color and not over cook it. The sauces on the side were both different and always complimenting to the meat or seafood. The sides are some of my favorites. The kimchi is one of our favorites again but you get an array of picketed veggies that are all tasting so different, so fresh and crispy and then rice to help balance it out. Some of the best KBBQ in this region, and quite honestly, better than many I have had in other states. I have been to a bunch of places in SoCal and this beats them all. One of the reasons that BI BIM Bab is so good, is the excellent service. Each visit is such a joy and much of it is the friendly, warm and welcoming service. My family and I have been going to Bi Bim Bab for 18 years and many of the staff has been there that long too. Kim, one of the nicest people, she remembers us from years ago and she is also so wonderful. The entire staff are all engaging and makes each experience special. The food is delicious. The array of banchan is such a treat! Housemade goodies with a variety of taste and crunch. The kimchee has just the right spice level and the salad is topped with the tastiest dressing. We typically order angus beef, kal bi and marinated chicken. All, so tender and flavorful. Little details, like the mushrooms, sweet potato and onions enhance flavors even further. You get what you pay for, quality, tender meats, veggies and sides. Well worth the pricing structure. I also love the ebi shumai and the veggie spring rolls. The BF and I shared the following: Hae mul pa jeon (seafood pancake) - 3/5 Solid pajeon served with a soy sauce. I think there could have been more seafood though. Banchan - 2/5 Some really sad looking ban chan (side dishes) unfortunately. We got bean sprouts, potato, kimchi, to name a few and nothing stood out. Jap chae - 4/5 I liked the freshness of the dish! It came out steaming hot. I wish it were a tad bit sweeter as I've had with jap chae from other places. Sun du bu chige (spicy tofu and seafood soup) - 4/5 Really good dish for a cold day. The seafood they included were about 3 small clams and several pieces of squid, so again I wished there were more seafood. But the tofu was tender and delicious and the flavor was nice. Under new ownership beware no one is inside the restaurant, ghost Town. we got there the new owner popped out and asked us table for two. We say I guess she said us at one of the barbecue tables. Left for five minutes came back handed us menus never asked us what we wanted to drink. Came back to take our order, she halfway took our order literally everything that came out was half of everything we said. Meat finally came out last and waiter/owner started cooking a meat on the barbecue grill burning the meat. We had to ask for salt and pepper three times. She was burning the meat with no salt and pepper. she turned to burn rope to is super high burnt all of our meat and wouldn't let us use the burner at all. Food was extremely bland. All their sauces are no good no salt or seasoning in any of the food I was really counting on the meat to be the starter show after I ordered multiple dishes and everything was nasty, but she went ahead and ruined that as well by burning the meat, then she walks past and ask us how was the food? Of course we reply. Everything's fine then we ask for something to drink, and the guy brought out a Diet Coke with ice and lemonade. He had his hands all over the rim of the glass. We literally had to tell ourselves to stop eating and drinking and get up and ask for the bill to leave. It was a terrible experience before we leave waiter comes back and ask is everything OK and we tell her the food was nasty and you burnt all the meat. She tries to give us a discount, but we pay in full and leave. I don't want discount on fast food. I just want really good food for full price. This place was a huge disappointment because I came here multiple times under the old ownership and the food was so delicious. This place is a true hidden gem! Literally. It's located inside an office mall next to Novi Town Center, so it was kind of difficult the find. The sign on the outside of the mall building was very big so my friend and I drove around a few times until we noticed it. Once inside, go downstairs and "into" the area of the mall, and you'll see the place. It's a very quiet mall - almost eerie. I think it's more an office mall, like I said above, so it's probably more bustling during the work week. We ordered the vegetarian dolsot bibimbap, which was so so good. We also ordered some spring rolls, (also vegetarian). Their menu is HUGE. But they have pictures for everything, which for me, is so helpful since I'm not 100% familiar with all the things. Our server was really nice, kept the water filled, and explained all the dishes to us too! The banchan options were all vegetarian, too, which was such a huge plus! Very overpriced for the quality of food they offer. As a Korean myself, this is probably the worst Korean restaurant I've been to so far. Every single dish we ordered was bad but especially the kimchi jaeyook bokkeum (spicy marinated pork with kimchi) and bibimbap, which is very ironic since that's the name of this restaurant. All we could taste from the kimchi jaeyook bokkeum was sesame oil. No flavor at all it was honestly quite hard to eat. I never thought one could ever go wrong with bibimbap but this was awful. All you need is some good sesame oil and gochujang (pepper paste) to make bibimbap but this was so dry with, again, no flavor. The only "good" item we ordered was their house salad. Loved the dressing. But other than that, pretty disappointing food. My family has very different food preferences, but this was one of the few times all five of us had the same exact reaction to each dish. Had dinner here with a group of 10 people. We had made reservations so we were seated in the back room by ourselves which was a good fit for the size of party. The apps were not the freshest as the spring rolls had kind of an odd taste - not old or bad but odd. We also had the beef broth with dumplings and it was a surprise to find glass noodles in the bottom- broth was good. We all got various dishes. I suggest the ones with marinated meats as the non marinated ones were tougher and less flavorful. I was not a fan of the dipping sauces- one too sweet and the other, miso based I think way too salty and I love salt - for me to say that it's got to be too much. The sides were just ok except the salad- they could have kept all the others and just given me more salad. There is no longer sushi either. We settled on hot stone bibimbab - i ordered mine with seafood. BEWARE. when mine came out, there was a foul smell that could not be ignored. I had my partner check it and he agreed the seafood had gone bad. It smelled very fishy and rotten - not understanding how cook could NOT have noticed. We noticed right away. I called over the waitress and she took it away. I asked for a new one with beef; even that i was reluctant to eat. There is plenty of parking, the restaurant is located inside the building rather than accessible from an outside entrance. Our waitress was quiet but seemed friendly, I think the language barrier made her a bit shy but that was fine with us. No worries there. Our food spread consisted of the dumplings, some sushi rolls, and the combination plate. We shared everything among ourselves and our friends so we could try a bunch of items. The dumplings were decent, and the sushi was pretty good (although there many options for sushi that are much better) and the combination plate was good for us to sample items. Been ages since I have been here. We decided to go since we weren't far from it and made the extra drive out of our way to go since I have always liked this place today. Started with some hot barley tea, miso soups, spicy salad with romaine and green onions, spicy Cali roll and chicken bibimbap as my hubbies main entree and I got the kimchi jjigae soup. Was craving a soup today. The miso soup was good and gentle on my stomach which is sketchy when it comes to anything with seaweed or seafood in it, had my hubby eat my seaweed from my soup. The Spicy salad was good but a bit more runny with their version of the dressing and got all over the place. Need to eat it close to the plate to keep it clean. The Spicy Cali was okay, nothing special. The waiter seemed confused when I first asked to get the tofu soondubu jjigae and add rice cake, he said they had no rice cake, but then I got the kimchi jjigae that has rice cake in it. Ok. The chicken bibimbap was decent. My kimchi jjigae had a hotdog or pork sausages and pieces of ham or bacon in the soup. The waiter asked if I wanted pork and I had told him no. Yet I ended up with a ton of pork meat in my soup and had to pick them all out, along with all of the fat pieces. Luckily I am not a strict vegetarian or they would have to make it again, which by the way wasn't offered and all I received was an apology for the waiters mess up. Their kimchi is ok, not as good as what I buy from Kagopa. The potato side is not bad as is the Evan sprouts. Some radish kimchi or cucumber kimchi would be nice instead or in addition. The bill total was $39.59, we asked if there was a price difference from the soodoobu or kimchi jjigae and the cashier laughed and suggested we tell the waiter or staff that I want it vegetarian. I told her we told him I didn't want seafood or meat and still got meat. She laughed and gave me a fake smile and said to make sure to let the waiter know I want no meat. No one here has a clue. Oh well. Not planning on coming back here again since the food is mediocre at best and staff seems and management are absolutely clueless here on what customer service. It seems the norm that most Asian restaurants don't give two squats if they mess up and certainly won't consider fixing it or giving you anything to compensate. I would absolutely not recommend this place. We got invited to this place by friends only because they couldn't get us in the restaurant they originally planned to go. This 1-star experience started right as we were seated. We were a party of 7 - that is 6 adults and 1 child, and given a table by the wall that sat 6 people. We were tight elbow to elbow. We brought up the issue to one of the staff members, she said there was no other tables and that we had to wait for an hour for the next one. There was one table - next to ours, that could fit us all and we asked if we could take it. The answer was no. After pointing out that we had a child in our party, she agreed to us moving to that table. Our server was not the politest- rushed us to order our food, rudely dropped straws as we asked for our drinks, did not even explain the menu to some who had never been to a kbbq. Now let's talk about the food. Forget gettig the world famous bibimbap. Bland, no taste, poorly prepared. The egg saved it - or it would just be a bowl of fried rice and some greens. Absolutely not world famous at this Yelp 3.5 star place. Kbbq has not even marinated, it was just plain meat and you would have to figure out the spicesand portions were questionable. At $34-36 per plate, these were small servings. We are going to Daebak Kbbq by Southfield next time. A little bit of drive for us but better sized servings and way nicer staff. read more

To sum up this restaurant in one sentence, it's a delicious Korean restaurant with modern decor and decent service. We've been coming here on and off for the good part of the past decade, and while the shopping center that it's located in has seen better days, we've continued to have pretty good meals here. Whenever we dine here, we tend to start out with some Korean BBQ (kalbi mostly) then order something else like bi bim bab, mool nengmyun, or soon tofu. My only issue with this restaurant is that the waitress is a bit too aggressive in their upsell, which really feels crass. Each were $19.95. They came with the usual Korean assortment of kimchee, salad, rice and pickled vegetables. The food quality was very good and made for a pleasant and tasty meal. The service was courteous and efficient. The restrooms were clean and odorless. We would like to eat here again. Total before tip was $42.29. read more
