Stopped by yesterday to get a banh mi, crispy egg rolls and some spring rolls. They were empty which is sad because this place has THE best banh mi and spring rolls in town. The girls working were so sweet and answered our questions about the different banh mi as well as questions about the desserts they have. They have pho too and it's the perfect weather for it. Next time I stop by I think I'll try the fried rice. The menu says it's about $10 & from the size of the portion I saw someone eating I'd say that it's a deal! Kimlan deserves some love from the city so please give them a try! read more

I've been wanting to try this place. I've read many really good reviews! So, on my day off today, after waking up from a nap, I was hungry! I first thought about getting a burger from one of our local burger places. Then I remembered Kimlan! I looked them up to find their hours and had only 30 minutes to get there! I'm about 20 minutes away. So I flew out the door! Fortunately I made it on time! I was torn between the Banh Mi Thit Nuong: thinly sliced pork marinated in lemongrass-soy dressing, no mayo. Or the Banh Mi Xa Xiu: sliced Chinese bbq pork. Both come with picked carrots, jalapeno, cilantro, cucumber and mayo (on the Banh Mi Xa Xiu). They were out of the Banh Mi Thit Nuong so that settled my decision! It was really, really delicious!!! Absolutely loved it. I bought 2 so I'd have one for work lunch tomorrow. Glad I did. The bread is light, airy and crunchy. My one issue, which was the reason for just 4 stars, was that IMO, it could have used more meat. I thought it was kind of sparse. Although at just $3.50 for a very decently sized sandwich, it was alright. I ate it at home and added some chicken breast I had. I also ordered some Crispy Egg Rolls ($2.00 for 3) which I would refer to as Spring Rolls (the smaller, thin wrapped rolls), with the fish sauce dipping sauce. They were also good. Typical Spring Rolls. So, all in all, I was very pleased with my meal! I will definitely go back! I want to try the one that they were out of tonight. Also have to try their Bun Thit Nuong Cha Goo: grilled pork & egg roll vermicelli ($6.75). That is one of my favorites! Their prices are incredibly reasonable! read more

I do enjoy their wonton soup. Broth is kinda sweet for my taste but the wonton itself is good. For the price it is pricey for $10 for only like 5-6 small bite sized. I would still come back here for this dish. As for the bánh mì itself, I think it's okay but not something to rave about. read more

The only complaint from my crew was the small quantity of meat on our sandwiches. When we return I will request double meat... that said the prices are so reasonable. Where else can you get a sandwich for less than 6 dollars?! Our food came out quickly and the spring roll's really stood out. It's a hot day and the fresh vegetables on the sandwiches was so refreshing. The bread is crisp on the outside and soft inside with delicious flavor. The woman at the counter brought our food out to us and was very nice. The fish tank was strangely loud be we enjoyed watching red bull Clif diving while we ate. It was pretty empty on a Sunday around 3. We got the #6, 9, &10. I think 6 was the best. read more

Everyone in my party ordered a #3 bahn mi sandwich. They were very likely the best we've ever had. They were large with fresh, crusty bread and full of wonderful ingredients. Bahn mi sandwiches were delicious with awesome fresh baked bread (in house) and lots of fresh veggies. Could have done with more meat on the grilled pork sandwich (very good). Also had a shredded chicken sandwich. The meat was plentiful but fairly dry. I wouldn't order this one again. Skip the fried egg rolls. Very chewy and Luke-warm. Prices are very reasonable. I ordered 2 samdwiches, the egg rolls and had a soda. Total was under $13. I'd recommend for sure. read more

Really great sandwiches at great prices. I would recommend the #3 marinated pork sandwich for your first time in. The bread can be hit or miss depending on the freshness of the batch, but you can't beat their prices. Will continue to be one of my regular lunch spots. read more

Wanted to try a place with Bahn Mi and Pho. Didn't disappoint. Had the combo pho, the combo bahn mi. Spring rolls. Thai tea. Saw an avacado smoothie! Looked good! Very reasonable. All was good and would visit again. The pho and spring rolls filled me up and I took the Bahn Mi to go. read more

Great sandwiches as always. I would suggest if you order online, you also call to let them know you've placed an order. When they get busy, they may not routinely be watching the website; so, when you get there, you end up ordering at the window (or they look up your order at the time) and you end up waiting. Don't let the part of town or outside appearances scare you away! My boyfriend was skeptical because there wasn't anyone else there. I had to remind him we also showed up at 3pm on a Tuesday. The lady at the counter, I'm assuming one of the owners, greeted us. She was very pleasant and attentive. We ordered the #4 and #11, egg rolls, milk tea, and bottled soda and our total was 14.77. How can you beat those prices?! The inside was also very clean. The food itself was incredibly flavorful. The veggies on the bahn mis were fresh and has a nice crunch. The pate was rich and creamy. The bread was soft and buttery. My tea was a great sweet compliment to the saltiness of the sandwich. Let's just say I convinced my boyfriend that this was indeed a great place to try. He finished his food before me and ordered a sandwich to go. Try it. You won't regret it! read more

I had a sandwich and spring rolls. The bread was so soft and tender I loved it. The pate they use is full of fatty flavor and the veggies are fresh. They lack a little in the meat department but for around three dollars I'll splurge and get double meat next time. They spring rolls had both pork and shrimp which was a nice surprise, they are served with a traditional dipping sauce with some rooster sauce added which saved me from adding it, loved it. Under ten dollars for a sandwich, spring rolls and soda. Service may be a bit lacking but I a made up for in the quality of the ingredients and how wonderful the food was. read more

How long have I said that bahn mis are the best value sandwiches in the biz? SO LONG. So you can imagine my delight at the prospect of a restaurant that serves nothing but the things. Pho can go pho itself. Bún bò Hue? Not for you! It's like a Subway, except the sandwiches taste good and you can't have it your way. It's just sandwiches, is what I'm saying. $3.75 gets you a footlong bahn mi of pork roll, barbecue pork, and meatball. It's good. It's the real deal. You have to apply your own vegetables, which is annoying, but only slightly. That's it. That's all there is to Kimlan. Sure, you can get a couple of spring rolls if you want (and I won't dissuade you), but otherwise, this is a love letter to the bahn mi, and it's sealed with a kiss from Yours Truly. read more

I can't stop thinking about going back on my lunch break today. And tomorrow. And the next day. It's so simple and cheap and beautiful. There is nothing better than a near footlong bahn mi with crusty bread, fresh and crunchy vegetables, and various meat combinations of your choice. I have only tried their sandwiches so far but I'm sure I'll mess around with their noodles and rice eventually. Ambiance: Family owned shop thats pretty clean and friendly. They also serve some soup dishes but obviously don't compete with Little Saigon next door. Food: My fiance and I shared 3 sandwiches: the combination, the beef, and the pork. Among all the sandwiches they bread was fresh and tasty but I thought they could have used a little love in the toaster to add some crisp. Each sandwich is served with a little delicious packet of pickled carrots and daikon with cucumber and jalapenos. It's a pain to fish them out of the packet but throw them in your sandwich and enjoy (I deseed the jalapenos to get the flavor without the ridiculous burn). I terms of fillings, the pork was by far the best. It was perfectly seasoned, savory, tender, and moist. The beef was lackluster in comparison being a little drier and just not as tasty. The combination was a decent sandwich as well with some cured meats inside but I was ultimately underwhelmed with it as well. Don't take my criticisms out of context though, I would gladly eat any of these sandwiches again as they were all good but the pork sandwich was a clear winner. This place is definitely a good place to grab a snack, it is cheap, friendly, and tasty. I would recommend the pork for first-timers and say you'll want 1.5 sandwiches if you're a fatty like me. read more

By far, the best bahn mi in Wichita! Th he bread is ALWAYS warm and fresh. The service is AMAZING! I'm allergic to mushrooms and they will make a special batch of their incredible steamed buns for me when I give them a day or two notice. Their prices are more than reasonable - $3.50 for most of the sandwiches and steamed buns. The pork bahn mi is our favorite, but the chicken is yummy, too! Customer service is bad. We were there at 11 am on Wednesday. We were told only number 1 is available. If we want other menus we have to wait for 2-3 hours. We don't know what happened but the lady at the counter was very rude. She speak very bad. We ended up leaving the shop and will never return again. read more

Wow, great stuff. I normally go next door for noodles or pho, but today I just wanted a quick sandwich. I ordered the banh mi thit nuong, it was cheap and ready in a flash. The bread was exactly how it's supposed to be - tender and soft inside, crisp and flaky outside. Nice cold cucumbers, jalapenos and carrots served in a separate bag, and I was sure you hit it with a little sriracha before I left. $3.50 for this beauty, and it was worth double. I was disappointed to see it wasn't too busy, but this is definitely going to be on my new rotation. One request would be to get those new squeeze packets of sriracha for those of us getting takeout. read more
