First time visit to this location. Was never sure where it was since it's located in an office…read morebuilding. Visiting on a Saturday after the lunch hour made for easy parking and the entry is separate from the office building since it is located on the ground floor to one side. The ambiance was nice with a Cheers bar feel to it. Cozy quiet atmosphere that felt cool on a hot afternoon. We split the "Famous #8" with potato salad and ordered a side salad. They split the sandwich on put on separate plates for us. Quality of food was excellent. Beer was cold.

I can summarize my review with "I'll never go back." We (2 adults) went to Artichoke Sandwichbar…read moreEast the week of June 8, 2026. We were there about 11 a.m. and for at least 10 minutes, we were the only customers. We ordered two sandwiches for carry out. Our order was straightforward; we did not ask for anything different from what the menu said. Nothing about our experience was satisfactory. (1) It took over 20 minutes to get our order; I didn't know one could make sandwiches so slowly. (2) We did not open our order until we got home. That's when we discovered the 6+-dollar side salad (that we of course paid for) was left out. (3) The potato chips for both sandwiches also were left out. (4) The roast beef sandwich was dry and unremarkable; the bread was stale. (5) The vegetarian sandwich had no flavor, perhaps because the two ingredients that would have infused flavor (avocado and cream cheese) were in very short supply; truly there was so little avocado and cream cheese on the sandwich, I wonder why the cook bothered adding them. (6) The vegetarian lacked any imagination. There was only ONE slice of cheese on the sandwich and the only cheese option was American. I knew the cook would use American cheese when I ordered the sandwich, so I don't want to be hypocritical. Surely, however, the cook could think of more flavorful cheese options to offer that would be within the price range of cheap American. (7) The food was very overpriced, especially considering (a) cheap ingredients were used and (b) the amount of the relatively more expensive ingredients on the sandwiches ranged from stingy to nearly nonexistent. Maybe our order was exceedingly slow because of the time it took the cook to ensure he did not add even the slightest extra molecule of quasi-expensive ingredients to the sandwiches.

Love a dive bar with some ambiance, history, and bar fare, so I was very excited when a colleague…read moresuggested the Artichoke for a quick sandwich and a beer for lunch while in Wichita for a conference. When we walked in, immediately we got seated (it was lunch on a Saturday)--got us a nice little booth with some green lit ambiance. The server checked on us to get our drinks quickly and then returned to take our order--definitely did an awesome job and thanks to the staff for all their work. Other reviews mentioned that the food wasn't necessarily the best or made in house--I can't speak to that, but I will say that the sandwich and potato salad hit the spot for me. This was exactly what I was looking for as a quick bite! I got the Famous #8 with potato salad as a side, and I ate that all up. They also had some domestic and local beers on draft, so I got an El Dorado company brew, and it hit the spot. The general Irish vibe was great, and if I get back to Wichita, I'll definitely be planning to hit up the Artichoke!

Nothing great and in a sea of bars…read morewhere the kitchens make their own dressing, this place does not, at least not the blue cheese. The soup is also not homemade, but it was good and was clearly from elsewhere. My sandwich was not enjoyable. As BLTs go, it was difficult to eat; the shredded lettuce was a fail, fallout everywhere, and not sure what kind of mayo they used but the flavor was not what I was expecting at all. The salad was sad for the up charge and similarly difficult to eat. My husband's sandwich was better, their signature number 8, but nothing to TikTok about. Service: 4/5 Good but not that friendly compared to the vibes the bar was giving. There was a disconnect somewhere. Ambiance: 3/5 The music started out too loud for how dead the bar was. Literally, it was us and about 6 other people but the live music was extremely loud. The singers were clearly professionals but they set themselves up for a fuller bar and were a little louder than the space required with that few people. I get that live music is loud and they eventually adjusted but initially it was jarring. They were good, but the lead singer was louder than her accompanying singer/ guitarist. I felt sad that they didn't get the chance to mix themselves better at the outset. Overall, this place should cut down their menu to items that are their best and probably have their live singers mix taking into account the number of patrons. I would probably come back but not as my first choice.
